"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. The inventory games get really tiring - I had my eye on the electric red tassel sandals and put them in my cart yesterday to purchase the 40% off (they weren't showing low stock). I got distracted, went back maybe an hour later to purchase and almost all sizes were sold out...and today, they're back to full stock in all sizes!

    1. They are super cute sandals and they were available in stores. I would call a store and see if they still have 40% off and have them send them to you. I have had that happen too and it is really frustrating.

    2. Same thing happened to me with same shoes. Refusing to pay more now plus shipping costs. Oh well. I am concerned about the color anyway but wanted to try them.

    3. @DD thanks for the suggestion - I am going to try that!

@JessF - I hesitated because of the color as well - I saw photos of some on eBay and the photo one of the JCAs had on her blog but I definitely want to see them IRL!

    4. Anne, after I read the reviews last night I checked myself and didn't see them, but this morning they were back. I didn't realize the sale went to 30% from 40%. Sigh.

  2. I have not received my rewards. Very annoying. The customer service rep said that they were mailed out the first week of May. I asked for a replacement and now I have to call a different number. Why is this process so difficult? Why can't they just email it?

    1. Becky- I received the card in the mail and then an email with the rewards info on it a few days later. I usually always get an email and the actual card.

  3. I bought a faceted bracelet with brown stones last year and finally decided to wear it for the first time a few days ago. I put it on, and a moment later I heard a "click". I looked down, and the top of the stone that made the pointy part of the "facet" had fallen off! So it was actually just a flat-cut stone with a little pointy bit glued on top. Up until now I really trusted the quality of J.Crew costume jewelry. I don't know if it's even worth the hassle of trying to return it since I bought it so long ago.

    2. I've never had a problem returning defective items at my store.
I actually have a page link bracelet from factory that cracked in half after a few wearings and I intend to bring it back next time I go to a factory store.

    3. Thank you both for your thoughts. I really like the bracelet so I'll probably try some crazy glue. It's so long ago that I ordered it that there won't be any hope for a replacement.

    4. I actually did that with a necklace myself. One of the stones popped out before I wore it but it was sold out. I used crazy glue and reinforced all of them.

  4. I'm a LONG time JC shopper and card holder and haven't received the last 4 catalogs. That annoys the heck out of me. Also, 30% off sale one day - then 40% off - then 30% off, ugh. It's old inventory, leave it at 40 and call it a day!

  5. I was mad I missed the 30% with free shipping on Memorial Day. I ordered Saturday and paid shipping.

  6. I am laughing at all the reviews of the flamingo skirt that compare the material to a shower curtain. Does J. Crew look at some of these items before they go to production? I have not seen the skirt in person, but the reviews on the website say it is like a cheap shower curtain fabric. That does not inspire confidence as a purchaser.

    1. Sounds like a weird fabric. I like the design though, but those reviews convinced me to not even try that skirt.
