"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  2. Went to bed with 2 items in my cart both included in promo, woke up this morning to find one of the items is now excluded. I am sick of these pricing games. JCrew just lost a sale from me.

  3. Mini skirt in bonded linen (f1587) is $88 in the catalog and was $88 online (full price, not promo) when I put it in my cart yesterday to keep an eye on it. Today it's $98. I hate when JC does this.

    1. I'd pretend to not be aware of the online price and order from the catalogue. Most stores will honor a listed price, even if it was a mistake or the price has changed.

  4. My elephant parade tee has a hole where it would rub against the button on my jeans/pants. I know this tee is from a while ago but I honestly probably wore it about ten times and it is my fav. So sick of the thin tees that get holes too quickly. One of my painter tees sprouted a hole in the same place. I guess at this point I am to assume tees are pretty much throw aways after a few wears. I miss the days when things would last for years. Sigh....

    1. I had that problem with holes in many tee shirts, not just Jcrew, and once I got rid of a particular pair of jeans the hole problem stopped.

    2. Hmm perhaps I need to do some investigative work on my jeans. I only have a handful so it should be easy to narrow down the culprit. Thanks for the tip!

    3. Agreed - I have had to throw away 3 Tippis in the last month. They sprouted holes in the oddest spots, none of which involved friction. Sigh.

    4. I've had the same issue. While the jeans might be causing an issue, t-shirts should not sprout holes so quickly. I shouldn't be throwing out shirts after only a few uses, especially for the price charged for them.

    5. The holes in the jcrew t shirts has been an ongoing problem for YEARS. I would get holes in random places like on the sleeve. Won't buy them anymore-

  5. Annoyed that the LONG-SLEEVE STRIPED MAXI DRESS (Item F1725) is excluded from all promos. Should I wait until it goes on sale?

    1. It's on sale in the stores, so I would order that way. Stores also typically waive shipping and you get 3-6 days instead of Surepost.

    4. Thanks @Mygoddy unfortunately @unknown is right. I'm in Canada and I would still have to pay for the shipping. I will check the other jcrew store in my city and hopefully they have this dress in stock.

    5. I'm in the US and often have to pay for shipping ordering from stores. Maybe I'm calling the wrong stores? :)

    6. It is up the discretion of the sales associate, Anthro Blogger, which is why you see mixed experiences. Some stores won't free ship clearance items, some do. They all have the ability to though.

  6. I ordered the standing collar leather jacket early Monday morning - as of today, still hasn't shipped (am shipping regular, not economy).

Called JCrew and they say "well, it is shipping from a retail location, so they often don't ship right away". Ugh.

I realize stores are busy, but if JCrew is going to use them to fulfill online orders, they need to commit to getting stuff out. They promise that they will upgrade shipping if necessary to get it to me in the 3-6 day window, but why have the item sit around in the store for 3-4 days before even getting it out?

I really wish it was coming from the online shipping warehouse, instead.

    End of grumble.

    1. IME stores ship quicker than online. If a store takes a long time to ship, they may not have it. Is the size you ordered still showing it's available online?

  7. I finally received my ankle strap pom pom flats today that shipped from a store which seemed to take forever. One of the ankle straps has a small tear on the inside of the leather so now I will need to take them to the shoe repair. I called and complained to CS and they took $20.00 off my order to accommodate since I wanted to try and keep them. They are really cute but this is super frustrating.

  8. Got a Jackie cardigan and the arms were different sizes. I called to have a replacement sent over, only to be told it would take 6-8 business days to get to me. Also, I would have to purchase the new one and wait 3 weeks to get my credit until they received my original cardigan. Too bad I needed it in a rush! I returned to the store and am going to look elsewhere.

    1. That's odd; they've always pre credited me for items that were defective. Sorry for your frustrating experience!
