J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Pssst....new 30% off "everything" promo with free shipping right now -- and it worked for me on the Thomas Mason shirts that never go on sale!

    1. Also, lots of popbacks! I grabbed the Pom Pom colorblock flats...

    2. There are some good ones plus new arrivals which are okay. Like some of the tees but wonder how quickly they will be holey when the catalog says they are thin. The picture of the model in the Jackie cardigan in gingham is cracking me up, her face says why am I wearing merino wool in the summer?! I would have totally bought if it were in cotton.

    3. Totally agree with the nuttiness of wool sweaters rolled out in mid-April. I want cotton options for work besides cardigans. I looked at all of the gorgeous Tippi colors and thought how many I would have bought if they had been cotton.

    4. Lauren. Tell me it wasn't size 7 in those Colorblock flats so I don't have to jump off a building. I woke up later than usual. Sad trombone.....

    5. Shopping Celle, lol ;) Their was a 7.5 but no 7. I would keep checking though as several sizes popped back.

  4. I received the black lace up flats and immediately returned them. The grommets were silver. I'm just not a fan of black and silver. They were nice soft leather though and if that doesn't bother you I think they are a great shoe!

    1. @liztriden, how are the pink lace up ballet flats holding up I recall you had said you own them. Mine are still in the box undecided. Thx!

    2. Hi Jan. I've only worn the pink ones bfirefly but have worn the patterned pair many times and the toes are wearing faster than I would like. I took them to my local shoe cobbler like was suggested last week and he told me there was nothing he could put on the toe to protect it. He could put a tap on the bottom sole but that it wouldn't protect the tip of the toe. I think I'm ok with that though. I paid less than $100 for the shoes and they will only last a few years but that seems about right for this price point. Just my 2 cents though.

    3. Thanks so much for your input! That's too bad about the shoe taps I hadn't looked into it yet so you've saved me time. :) I paid about $160 cdn which is why I'm more worried about them holding up as some reviews sound like they look worn after a day.

  5. I bought a few of the ballet cap sleeve t shirts recently and really like them. Nice fit (in my usual size, M) and heavy fabric that feels like all-cotton (it's 80% cotton 20% linen). Haven't tried to wash yet so will see how that goes.
One of my favorite JC buys recently is the cap sleeve dress in super 120s wool (e4684). I'm 5'10", 137# and bought the 6Tall. It fits perfect, has pockets (!), great feel and drape and fully lined. Have a photo of it on instagram (navybluecardigan).

I tried the drop waist pleated skit in super 120s wool in navy but it just looked like a school uniform skirt on me. I think with tucked in shirts and nice shoes it would be great but I wanted for a more casual skirt (like with t shirts and converse) and it wasn't working at all. Plus the material seemed rougher than other super 120s items I have and seemed to attract every.single.piece.of.lint.

  6. I reordered the navy stripe midi skirt from factory (purchased earlier then returned because it wasn't midi) and the black white stripe midi. I didn't realize the bw version was cotton. Most will like this skirt but it's a bit poufy on me and exaggerates my hips. I'm keeping the navy midi because I noticed there is ample seam allowance in the hem - maybe 3 inches or so. I'll drop it off at my tailor this week and she'll be able to work her magic and make this skirt a tiny bit longer and more midi style than knee length.

  7. Hello Crew Ladies, bought the gingham dress, fits TTS maybe slightly large, thought I needed a petite stuck with the regular, the paisley skirt, adorable! Fits on the bigger size, went down a size, also thought I needed a petite, stuck with the regular, the gingham skirt, fits on the bigger size, went down a size, very cute, great material, maybe short for the taller ladies, the ballet cap sleeve fits slightly large, going to try a size down, does stretch a little over time, debating on several of the new shoes.

  8. Has anyone seen or tried the Midi dress in polka dot? Curious about the material...even though it says silk. And its hard to tell close-up, online.

  9. Went to my favourite J. Crew store today and bought the White Midi Skirt in Cotton Clip Dot (f2449). The fabric, cut and quality of the skirt is amazing. I actually love the elastic on the back. Being 5 months postpartum in hides my belly. The pockets and full lining are a bonus! This will be my go to summer skirt with white sneakers or heels.

I tried on the Summerweight Sweater (e9575) in the blue. It was quite long on the length so I didn't buy it. The fabric was great though.

    1. Hi J.elle, how did you find the length on the clip dot midi? Thx

    2. Hi @jan for reference I am 5'3 and the length still works for me. Because of the waistband you can wear it high waisted if you are wearing flats or on your waist if you wear heels. I love it so much I want to buy it in black as well. Hope this helps.

    3. @j.elle, thank you that's very helpful! I don't need another white skirt but this one is so tempting. :)
