J.Crew of Seasons Past: {a look in the closet}

It's that time again, to take a look at an image of J.Crew pieces from seasons past! As caribbelle (in this post) so beautifully termed, "ye olde j crew of yore".

This post features the Favorite Fit Checked University Pant from 2007 with a trouser leg that is sure to make anyone look longer and leaner. The buttons on the side are a nice touch!

What are your thoughts on the look(s)/item(s) from the past? Do you find the look(s)/item(s) classic or do you think they are dated?

  1. I'm just falling in love with wider leg, palazzo style pants. Was the University pant anything like the Hutton?

  2. I absolutely love the University pant and am always on the lookout for them in my size on Ebay. So far have picked up 3 pair! They drape beautifully and the button detailing at the waist is nice when tucking in shirts.

  3. I loved these pants and I wore them, it seems like, about once a week. Wide legs don't usually look good on 5'4" me, but these worked. Then last year, I tried them on during a giant closet purge and something about them seemed sort of dated--couldn't put my finger on it. I put them in the Goodwill bag and have regretted it ever since.

  4. Love these. I missed them in 2007. Were they wool? Lined?

  5. Hi Catherine K - yeah, these are wool AND lined.

    I have a pair of these and the Academy pant from 2008 and they are really nice. Unfortunately, the Favorite Fit doesn't really work for me so I don't wear them often but just like to look at them from time to time as a reminder of those "JC days of yore"!

  6. Yes. I have these and wear them still. LOVE that the wool is high quality and the lining is wonderful too. To me they are a classic esp. being 5'10". Love the favorite fit pants as well. High waisted may be in but I will NEVER wear them again. Cannot stand anything right at my waist.

  8. Yes, have several of these and love them. Even the crazy yellow ones :)

  9. I have several pairs of these pants but I think they look dated. Personally, I probably wouldn't wear them as is. The fabric is very nice, though, so I don't want to throw them out. I already removed the cuffs to update them a couple years ago; now I'm thinking about taking in the legs.

  10. I have a couple pairs of these in wool (houndstooth and solid blue) and one in navy linen/cotton. They make my legs look a mile long and always garner many compliments. The style is a bit dated since skinnies became the thing but I like that it's a departure from the expected. I wear them with a slim-fitting top and platform shoes that give them a nice break just above the cuff. I feel like I'm Katherine Hepburn or Diane Keaton wearing these pants.

  11. Anyone notice that this model has a "healthy" figure and does not have stick thin legs?

  12. Not my auction, but these pants are currently on eBay (size 2) with a BIN of $28! Item #270956283539
