J.Crew Final Sale {nice update again!}

J.Crew had another decent update to their Final Sale section online (click here) this morning. Lots of merchandise for everyone (1200+ for Women and 280+ for Men).

I guess all the merchandise from brick & mortar stores' sale sections have finally made it back to the warehouse and are ready for re-sale. It is a great time to pick up an item or two that you missed out on in your store. However, remember to inspect your items carefully! (Just in case J.Crew missed something in their own quality control inspections.)

Did you check out the Final Sale section today? Were you able to snag any amazing deals? If so, please share! :)

  2. This is OT but I received a card in the mail today from J Crew. This is what it says:
    "Dear Cardmember,
Because your J. Crew Card is not yet available for use in our Canadian stores, we want to make it up to you...please enjoy FREE SHIPPING and 20% OFF YOUR PURCHASE..."

It expires on September 30th. Very nice!
I wonder if all Canadian J Crew Cardholders will get this treat?

As far as final sale goes, I'm not looking because I don't want to be tempted, the will is weak! ;)

    1. That's a nice treat, dani. Any goodies you will be using it for? Nothing here so far, but snail mail takes about 5 days to come to this end of the country.

    2. It's really nice that it has an extended expiration date, too.

    3. I received the same card in the mail yesterday! I'm going to save it for the Silk Crepe Tee in ivory and maybe the No. 2 Pencil in Festival Blue.

    4. Interesting, these cards with various dates....

Has anyone seen the heavy silk blouse with the bow Irl? Am thinking of ordering it

    5. Just a quick question are you referring to the J Crew credit card? Are Canadians eligible to apply for this? If so how?

    6. Yes, it's the J. Crew credit card and Canadians are eligible for it, but it can only be used for online orders right now. In theory you are supposed to be able to apply over the phone, but I tried that numerous times and never received the application in the mail. I ended up signing up for it in a J. Crew Factory store when I was in the US.

    7. I also applied for my J Crew card in store a few years ago while visiting the US. The only pain is that I can't seem to pay it online, I have to mail a cheque from my American bank account to the office in Texas.
Still, it is cheaper by far, a typical credit card does not give us a good exchange rate while I pay with straight American funds on my JC card.

  3. OT for Boston area JCA's:

There was a piece in the Globe yesterday saying that J Crew will be opening in the next couple of months at the Chestnut Hill Mall. See here: http://www.boston.com/yourtown/news/newton/2012/08/new_stores_at_the_mall_at_ches.html

Does that mean the Atrium store is closing? Is there a Crewcuts component to all this? If anyone knows the scoop, please pass along.

    1. Most stores were pulling out of the Atrium mall. Anthropologie closed a few weeks ago, I wouldn't be surprised if they were moving across the street.

    2. I asked about this at the Copley Place store, and they confirmed that Atrium is closing. The Chestnut Hill mall location with have Crewcuts, but wedding is moving to Copley.

    3. Right. The atrium is turning into a medical building. I wonder if the Cheesecake will also move to the Chestnut Hill mall.

    4. Thanks for the scoop - I see store opening events in our future- actually several! Wedding at Copley and Jc and Crewcuts at Chestnut Hill. Yay..,

  8. Hi Kids....If you are looking for the Edie Attache' in Oasis Green I just returned mine to the Bridgeport Village store in Portland, Oregon (phone # 503-598-7414). Nothing wrong with it, just changed my mind.

Also just an interesting note....about a month ago I saw a jeweled peacock bangle on Ebay from a China seller saying it was JC. Well...guess what. I just saw it in my store. I wonder if JC is thinking how they are going to deal with these online China sellers selling copies before JC even introduces them? Just a thought.

    1. I got the plaid boucle jacket a few weeks ago on super sale (around $60). Pink and orange are my favorite colors, so it was a no-brainer for me! It's a really bold piece, so I'm planning to wear it with dark skinny jeans an a white tank.

    2. Thanks, Emily! Wish I had been able to purchase it for $60.00. :) I have dark skinny jeans and a white tank, so I'll give it a try. Thanks again for your reply! :)

  13. OT ...congrats to everyone who has the raj paisely print items. On the Young and the Restless this week "Nicki" had on the raj print shirt...it looked very nice on her. She also has worn the Terrazzo jacket previously. She is a little(not much compared to me) older but I love seeing her in Crew stuff. Carolyn from Vancouver

  15. A little off-topic, but for any of you who own the no. 2 pencil skirt in double-serge cotton, I just received an email response to a livechat inquiry I made about the care instructions and they confirmed that this skirt is incorrectly marked as dry clean online and on the label. It is machine washable since it is unlined like the classic mini in double-serge cotton. The long no. 2 pencil skirt is still dry clean only due to its lining. They said they will be updating the care info online. Sorry this is not more related to sale, but I wasn't sure where else to post about it.

    1. This is good to know-- I HATE dry cleaning! Thanks!

    2. Betsy, can you post what the precise wash directions were for the double-serge cotton pencil skirt? I'm very happy to hear that it is actually machine washable and appreciate you positing the info.

    3. Unfortunately, the rep that emailed me back just said it's "safe to machine-wash," but didn't give any specifics about the best way to do so. I wrote her back and asked about specific instructions, and will post here when she gets back to me. I would bet it's the same as the classic miniskirt in double-serge cotton, so if anyone has one of those, feel free to post what yours says.

    4. I have washed my double serge pencil skirts all four of them multiple times. I washed them in the machine, hand wash cycle, cold water, then line dried them. I had to iron them a little but did that inside out and they were fine. I actually washed my porcelain paisley pencil skirt, that one I did in the sink inside out and hung to dry, that one is lined. I rarely dry clean sweaters, skirts etc. There was a great thread a week or so again about hand washing with some great tips. HTH

    5. The rep got back to me and said that the care instructions for the no. 2 pencil skirt in double-serge cotton should be machine wash cold on gentle cycle with like colors, tumble dry low.

JRSConifer, thanks for the info! Do you recall what thread this discussion was in? I don't see it in the blog archive, but would love to read up. Maybe one of the review posts?

    6. Betsy, search on vinegar :) I remember that being something I have not done but there were some great specific information on washing, I can't remember if it was wool or silk but lots of people chimed in. I believe that silk, wool and cotton have been around a lot longer than dry cleaners.

    7. Haha good point! Thanks again for the tip, I will definitely look into it. Would love to save on some of these dry cleaning fees!

  16. OT but a reminder to Maryland JCAs that this is tax-free week (12-18), so if you have your eye on something you can save yourself 6%. It applies to all clothing/shoes currently priced under $100 (mens, womens, and childrens). It also applies online (just ordered from J Crew and Gymboree with no tax added).

In addition to the retail stores we also have the Crewlets in Hagerstown, Arundel Mills, and Queenstown.
