  1. There are several things I'd like to try, but the final sale is a dealbreaker for me. Ugh! I really don't understand why Madewell's sale is almost always final sale, especially since they have far fewer stores than J Crew, so fewer people are familiar with their sizing.

    1. in my experience, their size chart is pretty reliable, though i have had to use the online chat a few times for fit questions.

    2. I agree that final sale for Madewell is very unreasonable.

Overall, their tops and stuff run smaller than J.Crew, but for jeans I wear the same size. It's still so hard to gauge though... online chat helps a ton.

  2. I ordered 3 pairs of jeans at over half off, which I am thrilled about because I really need jeans. The jeans aren't final sale - that's the only reason I did it. There is a dress I wanted and I know my size but I'm not sure I love it, and I refuse to be burned by final sale :P

    1. when i noticed this sale the other day, i ordered a pair of jeans, too. with the free shipping/return it's a pretty good deal. i wish they had shorter inseams, though... i have some hemming to do when they arrive in the mail today!

    2. Agreed re: inseams! I need a 31" inseam, and most of the time I can only find a 34". It's annoying, but I really like the fit so I just deal with it for now. I wish I could hem my own!

  3. I bit on this one. The Skinny Skinny High Risers (saloon wash) have been on my wishlist for ages and with promo are down to $67. I bought the dark wash last year on promo and have worn them to death. They are super comfy, soft, stretchy, and hold in the pooch/muffin top nicely (though there is no tucking in with these). I personally wear the size 28 with 32 inseam (34 is the other option).

I also snagged the Archive Boots in the flint colorway. I adore mine from last fall, and am certain of my sizing (they fit TTS for me), so I was ok with final sale on those. Nothing else final sale for me though.

  4. I agree that final sale blows, obviously.

I know my sizing in madewell very well though, so I may still bite on items I'm sure about (i.e., I already have and love in a different colour). I'm trying to restrain myself (esp since I bit on the JC sale), but we'll see how it goes.

I agree with tasty moog that the size chart is pretty reliable, but also pay close attention to the description. If it says true to size or shrunken fit, rely on the chart. If it says oversized or boyfriend fit it will run large by one size. If you want this look, go by your size on the chart, but if you want it more fitted then order a size (or even two) down, depending on how fitted you want it. HTH!

Also, I agree with the shorter inseams! I need 30 but just cuff or hem myself.

  6. I bit, I've been watching the Snakecharmer Peep-Toes for awhile and with the extra % off it was too tempting to resist. Thanks for the post Alexis!!

  7. Already did damage in the store, which has a much better promo. Some reviews here.

  8. Does anyone know if any of the stores might have the Archive boots on sale? The colors in stock are showing full price... Thanks in advance :)

    1. I didn't see the Archive boots in store. You have to look in the sale section online; if you do a search for them it will only take you to the full price colors. The color that is on sale is flint. HTH!

  9. Stopped into the Madewell store this morning and found they were still running the 40% off sale promo. Picked up the polka dot Sidewalk skimmers for $35 and two silk scarves, one $12 and one $24. The sale section was pretty nicely stocked too. Not a lot of rail straight jeans, which is what I like, so I'm glad I ordered them online this morning. I really need to stay away now ;-)

  10. Thanks, Pretty Adicted! I should have figured that out--it's like J Crew's site :) Just not as familiar with Madewell's site. Thanks so much!~

  12. Pulled the trigger on the Duskfall Jacket and Shrunken Dropdot Shirt last night, still FP in store but they're both in the sale section online, couldn't resist with the additional % off. Got a popup at the end of my checkout to fill out an online survey. Put in my 2c about their sizing descriptions as well as how I feel about Final Sale ;)
