J.Crew of Season's Past: {a look in the closet}

It's that time again, to take a look at an image of J.Crew pieces from seasons past! As caribbelle (in this post) so beautifully termed, "ye olde j crew of yore".

This time it is a page from one of J.Crew's summer catalogs featuring the Martine School of Fish Print Dress (Item 75772; $178.00) and the Ariel Printed Poplin Halter Dress (item 75785; $198.00). Now some may find the print "too cutesy" for everyday, but I think it fantastic for those hot Summer days by the shore!

P.S. Did you catch that J.Crew used the orange School of Fish Print Skirt as a flag on the boat?! Adorbs!

What are your thoughts on the look(s)/item(s) from the past? Do you find the look(s)/item(s) classic or do you think they are dated?

  1. Ahhhhh.....school of fish is my "the one that got away", that and the samba. I'm holding out hope that someone will tire of theirs soon!

  2. I actually bought the school of fish dress and returned it within 20 minutes. I was just too poor to justify a $200 cotton sundress at time time. If it came out now, I would snap it up!

  4. I totally remember that page from the catalog - thanks for posting it!! The school of fish print is my #1 all-time favourite print from J. Crew. I got the skirt at the time, and then after years of hunting on Ebay, I finally scored the dress last year.

  5. Yep, School of Fish got away for me too! I view EBAY constantly and no bites yet. I love the prints of that year (2007???).

  6. What a fun breath of fresh air! So cute! I have the School of Fish bikini and love it to death. I don't think I could pull off any of the dresses or shirts, though.

    1. Hi, I plan on listing mine on Ebay. It's a 14, but it's simple so I think resizing wouldn't be too hard....

  8. I think there was a very limited amout of items in the print;more so than many others. I think they are very hard to come by....

  9. I love to look at prints but I'm a bit challenged to make them work IRL, especially near my face. These are beautiful and I will always admire - from afar.

  10. Can I use this photo for my ebay listing? I am selling my Ariel dress (wore for my honeymoon in the Cayman Islands) and this is the only photo I can find online.

    1. Hi Tessa, you can definitely copy/download the image. :) However be aware that J.Crew scans eBay listings and takes down any that use their images (including scans of their catalogs). It is really annoying too. I don't know why they do it. Anthropologie does not have a problem with it.
