Shop to it: EXTRA 30% OFF sale items, in stores & online

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Closet Crisis (in this post), Tiffany Rose (in this post), as well as Irina, who shared the following update from J.Crew this morning.

J.Crew is offering customers 30% off all sale items (no min) with promo code OURTREAT. This offer expires Thursday, October 27, 2011. The fine print includes:
*No exchanges, no returns on items marked as final sale. Offer valid at jcrew.com and J.Crew retail stores only. Offer is not valid at J.Crew Factory stores. Offer does not apply to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards. Additional 30% off discount applies to J.Crew sale and Factory online sale items only. Offer valid through Thursday, October 27, 2011, 11:59pm ET. Savings are applied at checkout with code OURTREAT. Offer not valid on phone orders. Limit one promotional code per order. Details of offer are subject to change.
Some of us have been waiting for this promotion in Sale (click here to shop online), since this offer was already running in J.Crew's brick & mortar stores. A quick look at the Sale section shows that quantities are selling quickly too!

Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?

  1. Weird to have this right after the 25% off, and with little to no update to the sale section. Nice, though! Waiting for the gallerista skirt to pop back... which will probably never happen, but a girl can dream!

  2. I think I've done enough damage already, so I will say no.

  3. Hm, curious about the Sightseer Dress on sale now for $59.99 - 30%? Can anyone comment on fit/style? Is it flattering? How are you wearing it? TIA!

  4. It is odd that they did this with no update, I agree J.CrewJD. I won't complain though. Except that I just ordered a few items that were sale with the 25% off yesterday. Wonder if they'll honor an adjustment, as it's all still in stock today?

  5. Truly shocking - they must really need to clear out some stuff! Of course I just bit on a sale item last night but i guess getting a price adjustment for the extra 5% is silly...

  6. Maybe FS will end when this promo does. *fingers crossed*

  7. Any suggestion on sizing for the Encore trench?

    ReplyDelete
  8. iroar, I think the consensus is you can either stick with your normal size or go one size up.

I went one size up, the same size I have in the icon trench. But I am kinda busty, and will want to wear layers underneath, and just found the one size up much more comfortable. If this helps, I have a 6 in the wool cashmere plaza coat, the stadium cloth boulevard trench, and a small in my long puffer, but I have an 8 in my lady day coat, icon trench, and encore trench. But I know of another JCA who got her normal size, and lives in a warm climate. I hope that's helpful!

  9. Jruby18,
xoxo reviewed that dress on her blog: willwork4shuz.blogspot.com

I've been considering it too, especially after seeing it on xoxo, her styling is great.

  10. Hmm...I was really hoping the rumors of a possible outerwear promo this week would turn out to be true but since they just came out with this sale promo, I am thinking an outerwear promo might not be for another week or more. I am kind of kicking myself for not ordering a coat this weekend with the 25% off.....Is anyone else holding out for an outerwear promo? I hope so, it would make me feel a tad better ;)

    ReplyDelete
  11. Nicole, I'm also holding out for an outwear promo. But now that the ship date for the majesty peacoat in fiesta purple is pushed back to November 22 in my size, I'm kind of kicking myself for not ordering over the weekend.

  12. Yeah, I'm officially not buying anything (except the gallerista if it ever comes back) with this promo... just did some damage at Talbots with their 30% off full price and free shipping promo. Got these in fuchsia, and these, even though their other pointy flats were a fail. I am willing to try for $37.

Their shoes are better quality than J.Crew at muuuuch more reasonable prices.

  13. Has anyone's order shipped from Thursday/Friday? I know there is often a lag but mine has said "released" since Saturday morning.

Also, I could swear the long sleeve cashmere tee was OOS late last night, only to be fully back in stock this morning. Did I just miss it last night?

  14. The Extra 30% on FS doesn't interest me. What sucked me in on the the 25% was I could choose full price items that I might have passed on otherwise.

After big sales from Saks, ShopBop and J. Crew, I'm hiding from these offers! Then this morning, I got an invite from Net-a-Porter for 30% off. Thankfully, the "Essentials" and "New Season" items are excluded which is probably where the items that would tempt me fall, so I think I'm safe. But what is with all these aggressive offers from the retailers?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Elizabeth, I agree, it's exhausting and there is so much that one can buy at a time.
Is it the Net-A-Porter sale one of those accessible via email only? I went on the webiste but they don't say anything. If it's a code, do you mind sharing (not that there is anything else that i want to buy at this point)! ?

  16. Cancan, I got a email that my order from 10/22 has been shipped including an item that was B/O until 10/31. According to UPS ship label has been created but no additional information. I can't wait to get my Majesty Peacoat, hoping that 6P works for me, then just have to pick from the two colors I ordered. HTH.

  17. Hi Ema, The NAP sale seems to be tied to my email. I'm not sure how they're doing it, but it says the discount will be reflected automatically when I check out from my login. And the email they sent says "this was sent to email:".

The procedure makes me paranoid because I'm not able to see the discount reflected until checkout. I do not want to play a guessing game and unfortunately, NAP makes it a little too easy to check out.

I buy from them and get their newsletters but I doubt this is something "special" for me. You might want to email or call them and ask?

  18. Can anyone report if there are any new markdowns in stores? I was there on Saturday but my store will receive the new items this week and wondered if there would be new markdowns because of it. TIA!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Cancan, the long sleeved cashmere tee was on the website during the 25% off promo, but you had to do a keyword search to pull it up. For some reason it didn't show on the sweater main page.

    ReplyDelete
  20. CanCan: I placed my 25% off order on Thursday October 20th and it still hasn't shipped! All of the items I ordered are still in stock now, so I know that's not the issue. I'm pretty frustrated by it.

  21. I guess I'll find out in a week or two but has anyone tried the Camp socks? I ordered them to wear with the Emmett boots and they look really cute in the pictures but how do they feel? Are they mostly cotton or some content I've never heard of?

    ReplyDelete
  22. thx Dani! And that dress looks so cute on xoxo.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Nothing for me. I want the lady lace popover in the ivory color, but I'm going to wait until it drops more. And I still have warehouse sale hangover anyway. :P

  24. Dear Leader has pizza (and more) with Vanessa Friedman of London's FT -- interesting article here.

  25. J.CrewJD,

Yes, I orderd from Talbots 30% off one day sale as well. I am patiently waiting for final sale to go away. It will have to at some point for Christmas shopping.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Elizabeth - I totally agree! The recent discounts at the other retailers, coupled with the 25% at J.Crew, means that I'll probably sit this one out.

It's taking a lot of will power to not purchase the Encore Trench and the Flare Perfect Coat (on sale in stores).

  27. The sightseer dress did not work for me. Whereas I was TTS in the shutterbug and chambray shirtdress, the sightseer was HUGE on me in XS, and I'm not sure if it would have been any better in XXS. I agree that it looks great on xoxo, but not on me. It was a bit too 80s on me as well, not sure why. I didn't like the 3/4 sleeves either--I'd rather have a warm and cozy dress be warm and cozy all the way to the wrists. HTH someone!

  28. Is it just me - or can any of you shop factory? It just lets me look at the store list.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Dani, thanks for the shout-out.

JRuby18, I really love the sightseer dress and bought it in the black colorway as well. It's one of those "throw on and go" dresses that I live in when not at work.

Amy, I wonder if you received a mis-marked sightseer dress. I found it to fit TTS but if you did not it could also be due to a difference in shape. I'm busty on top and raglan sleeves usually provide extra ease that may have been too much for you if you don't need extra room up top.

  30. I reviewed Three J.Crew Dresses on my blog, they are all on sale, although some out of stock currently but might pop back during the extra 30 promo. Hope this helps someone.

  31. chicago girl - I have been having this problem all weekend. If you hit refresh (maybe once or twice) the links should show up on the left side of the page.

    ReplyDelete
  32. chicago girl - yep, me too. Have to refresh a couple of times to see the categories. Don't know why it is happening because Factory has always worked fine before.

    ReplyDelete
  33. xoxo, I agree all three dresses look great on you and I'm not sure exactly how my body is different from yours, except I think you have a very nice figure, and I am pretty much straight up and down ;) The hips were huge on me, so much so that I really felt like I was wearing a medium. It is a nice dress at a great price; I really wish it had fit me. I had a similar problem with the moonlighter dress, although there I think it was less me than the shaping/tailoring being off--I read here that it is on deep discount in stores, so maybe others are having trouble with that one, too.

  34. Just received my J.Crew Holiday rewards in the mail and it expires on December 15th. I hope there's an outerwear promo soon. I am eyeing the black duffle coat that is available for preorder. I placed an order last night with the 25% off promo, so this doesn't tempt me at all.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Agree that this is not the best promo as nothing new was added to the sales. However I decided to order the factory silk floral dress - the pattern looks pretty to me. It's also 30% off, free shipping, and not final sale - so that made it easier. I didn't get anything during the 25% off promo, and since I've only bought one dress so far this season (not from JC) I thought maybe it was justified!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Amy, I found the dress a bit roomy on the bottom too. You can see in the blog photo from the front, I actually cut off part of the photo where the dress hung wide at the hem but it wasn't too billowy for me since I was loving the comfort factor and I need to size up to fit my top so I'm used to a bit more room on the bottom. I could see where it wouldn't work if you wanted a more streamlined fit.

The sightseer is online only and my PS said it wasn't a really popular item, although she loved it and I do too. I realize it won't work for everyone though. I thought it would be good to provide a review with some details since people couldn't try it in stores.

I'm always grateful for all the JCAs chiming in with their opinions and reviews because final sale is so awful and if anyone is in doubt I would just say to avoid it rather than getting stuck with a dud.

  37. Do you have to have a JCrew Credit Card in order to accumulate "rewards points"???

    ReplyDelete
  38. Sorry as this is a bit OT, but does anyone have a review of the plaza coat? Thanks in advance.

    ReplyDelete
  39. C-Dub, yes the rewards are only obtained through the J Crew store credit card. You get $25 for every $500 you spend on the card. The rewards cards are mailed once a quarter.

  40. I had my b&m ps place my 25% order for me Thursday evening and it arrived today. I was shocked - I've never received anything that quickly from JC. The maraschino cherry and paradise jackies are so pretty. A true red and royal blue, which I've been hoping they'd make. Now, I want/need a chocolate and ivory jackie. :)

  41. The South Street Seaport store has a 25% off Men's Outerwear promotion (it doesn't extend to the womens section unfortunately).

    ReplyDelete
  42. J.CrewJD - Thank you for the thoughts on the Encore! I was going to stick to my size because I am not busty at all. Unfortunately, I was indecisive for far too long and my size is no longer available! Funny how this is such a relief sometimes. Thanks again :)

  43. Just wanted to note that the Lady Lace Popover dropped to $119 before the extra 30% off for anyone who is watching this one.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I was watching the silk polka dot tee, but today it went back up to full price!!! Now it doesn't qualify for the extra 30% off promo. So shady, J.Crew! You just lost a big purchase.

    ReplyDelete
  45. For those interested in the lady lace popover, my store placed an order for me over the red phone today, so they matched the $49.99 and honored the 30% off--with tax and shipping, it still came out under $50. YMMV, but worth a shot :)

Thanks to Rose for her help and encouragement on tracking down this awesome deal--I appreciate it!

  46. Hi there,

Jaymie, you mention a duffle coat in black available for preorder...is this the Toggle Coat with Thinsulate that is one of the "Looks" on the site? Or is it a different duffle style coat? I have a Duffle coat in navy (no toggles) from 2009 that came with thinsulate and it was a great coat! Would love to know more about either coat!
