  1. Apropos the turn to September: Anybody want to raise a cappuccino with me and toast to the most splendrous September catalog J.Crew has ever done? I’m sitting here paging through 2007 -- so many of my favorite pieces stem from this collection. And the images are just a sumptuous feast. I never wanted a yellow peacoat until I saw pg. 8 (also desired: a blackcurrant religieuse. Mmm.). After I’m finished with my cap, I’m going to balance my cup on my head in tribute to pages 20 & 21.

  2. Amen to that, Barbabelle. I think tonight I will go back and look through that catalog!

  3. I wish I had that catalog. *heavy sigh* :)

  4. Wish my husband was home to make my cappuccino but I'm raising my coffee with you Barbabelle.

I was VERY surprised when I found a "WOMEN'S" September catalog in my mailbox 2 weeks ago. last one I received was exactly a year ago. I received couple "men's only" catalog past year (I never buy anything for my husband).
    I haven't ordered a thing for last 2 months...maybe that's why I received it this month?

Anyway, love the catalog. It reminds me of nice catalogs of Fall 2008... It's a shame that they don't let customers view it online...

  5. OT, but there are tons of new markdowns today. Items that JUST came out are now final sale (one of the Darlington bags). WTF? But also, lots of mark downs to existing sale items. The trellis dress is down to $69.99. I'd love to know if any JCAs have tried this. It reminds me of the cross back dresses of 2007, which were quite small in the bust. Wondering if I'd need to size up...

  6. I would have loved the silk mirage jacket . . .that is, if I actually received it. Yes, I am no longer a virgin when I comes to JCrew shipping the wrong item. And here I thought I was so lucky . . .

Found a very large box at home last night . . .thinking that's odd for a thin silk jacket. Opened it up and found the Double-cloth envelope coat in hthr majestic purple in a plastic bag that read "Silk mirage jacket". Now this could have actually been a good mishap. . .I mean, it is a $325 coat that is new, not on sale, that I would have gotten for a mere $97. The only problem is that I live in Arizona . . .the last place one would need a thick wool coat. So I'll be returning it this weekend. Apparently, the silk mirage jacket and I aren't meant to be!

  7. CCS that's ridiculous! It makes you wonder who the hell is packing these orders, monkeys? How can one explain the error rate lately?

I'll end on a (small) positive. I love the Vibrant Flame color. I've found it to be much more versatile than my initial too-early-for-Halloween perception.

  8. Looking into my closet today to decide what to wear, I realized that I love how the J. Crew catalog has given me great ideas for color combinations I never would have otherwise considered. One of my favorite combos right now is grey and olive green. Before being "re-Crew-ted" I never would have thought of putting those two together!

  9. Ruffles, yes Monkeys indeed! That was my first thought last night. When you pick up a large, heavy wool coat to fulfill an item listed as silk, a bell should go off that it isn't the right thing!

And I too love the vibrant flame color! Got the minnies in it and am looking forward to wearing them a lot this fall!

  11. Normally I would agree that monkeys are packing for JCrew. However, I now know that monkeys would be too smart to make the recent mistake I encountered. Some lucky son of a-gun-out-there has my Eddie purse. Yes, instead of a sizeable purse my box contained a pair of Cosabella panties! JC refunded me and resent my purse but it took over a week after the wrong order arrived to get it.

  12. I also had the incorrect size shipped to me from last weekend, the package was right, wrong size inside. Where is the quality control on returned items.

  13. I have experienced all of the weird shipping experiences that have been posted. That is why I now stay away from final sale. Feel for you guys but I finally learned my lesson and just got so fed up. Shopping should be fun; not a hassle.
