Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. No, I won't... I visited the Beachwood OH b&m Wednesday night. They had lots of the veridian green pencil skirts and no sale section. One of the mannequins was wearing the Encore trench in a 6, which is my normal size. I tried it on and found that I'd need to size up, unless I planned on wearing nothing underneath, lol! It is really to die for though. The sleeves are a little longer than on the icon trench which makes them workable for us taller JCAs. The material is very nice and seems that it would resist wrinkles. I cannot wait to get my hands on one!

Also, I received two popbacks I ordered last week. They managed to send the right items and they are both in new condition. Wow, I have no idea how I missed the tall weatherby boots before but glad I snagged them now in both black and cobblestone! The leather is just wonderful. Reminds me of the borge leather used on the Uptown tote and Oslo bags. They are extremely high quality; I am in love!

  3. Teeny84 -- me too! Isn't it awesome that we're able to say that now, and join in on the "Will you visit JCrew this weekend?" thread? :)

I know this sounds ridiculous, but the past two nights I've had dreams about the JC Toronto store opening.

    Counting the days...

  4. Clicquot: haha, that's hilarious! I haven't actually dreamed about J. Crew, but I have been making short lists of what I want to get next Thursday.

...But I was very bad, I broke down and ordered a couple items that popped back yesterday morning, I had been waiting months for them to come back in my size and the colours that I wanted. Oh well! Definitely staying away from the website this weekend.

  5. I posted about a couple of factory items (Imperial Tee, Hipslung Cord) as well as the Solong Sweatshirt Tunic on my blog.

    Happy weekend shopping!

  6. I will be at the Toronto store opening next Thursday - can't wait!!! I have a nice long list of the items I will be looking for, and with the 20% off am expecting to purchase quite a bit. I'm very interested to see what their Canadian prices are like, though.

  10. I won't because I went last night to make a return.

There weren't many new items out except for some sweaters, but I'll probably wait to go back because the personal shopper there said new stuff should be arriving on the 17th or 18th.

  11. Louise -- there's no shame in ordering pop-backs :) I was just thinking this morning that several of my most beloved JC pieces were scored through pop-backs! You won't find them in the new TO store, so might as well scoop them up when you can!

And the best part...now we can make returns in Toronto. I've been waiting to return my new velvet schoolboy blazer...not on opening day, but still, nice not to have to pay shipping charges anymore.

  14. We'll be spending Saturday in Grand Rapids to celebrate my birthday so I will definitely go to the B&M there. My birthday wish... that they will have a sale section!

  15. I agree with Clicquot, some of my most favorite items have been popbacks! You must strike while the iron is hot, or they disappear and may not show up again for weeks or months, if ever. It's like those twist-a-plot books I read when I was a kid, lol.

  17. Posting in this thread too:
Dear JCAs, if you hit a Factory store this weekend, could you post info on the % off being offered? I'm interested in the begonia-print pencil skirt but a mere $10 off online isn't good enough given Factory quality. TIA!

  18. I am officially done with fall until some markdowns come along. I placed a final order for 5 finespun tank tops yesterday since they went on sale and I really needed some new layering pieces.

Sorry this is late, but I received the Heirloom bolero vest, which I got on sale, this week. It is beautiful! Definitely not worth the original $295 price tag, but very pretty for the now $69. The color is a great green jewel tone, perfect for early fall. It is definitely cut boxy, but not so much that it is unflattering. I think it will be adorable with a tissue turtleneck underneath and some flare jeans. They show the model with it open, but I prefer it with only the top snap open and the rest closed. It made it sit better on me and looked more polished. I know it isn't one of those things that you wear all the time, but if you are looking for a fun statement piece, this is a great option!

My 20% cardholder order is out for delivery today, which includes the Vintage Tweed Jacket in mustard. I'll post a review on it either over the weekend or next week.

    Have a great weekend!

  22. Clicquot - really? We can return our online purchases in the TO store? I am about to ship a package back but will wait if I can just return it for a full refund (duty? shipping?) to the TO store when it opens.

  23. Hexicon,
Just returned from factory...lots of familiar retail re-dos in their new arrivals. Skirts are 20% off the full price, Gallery tees were 40% off, making the Imperial tee $20.70. Perfect shirts were 25% off and most new arrivals were 20% off. I found a retail (no stars on tag) Strata cardigan in the clearance section (add'l 40% off) for a steal at $23.98. It's the Tax Free holiday weekend in FL today thru Sunday so I'm sure stores will be busy. Glad I went in this morning.

  24. J.CrewJD: Can you tell me how the tall Weatherby boots fit? Are they TTS? I'm intrigued by them too. Thanks in advance!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Greta,

I have large feet... a size 10 at J.Crew is sometimes a little snug but the 11 is usually too big. In the Weatherbys I ordered an 11 even though I have many J.Crew boots in size 10 that fit me, though I can only wear thin socks with them.

The 11 Weatherbys are very comfortable and do not feel "too big", so if you're between sizes or a half size bigger than your "real" size pops back, you will be ok with the bigger size. The good thing about the flat boots is that there is way more wiggle room with sizing up since you can wear thick socks! So, anyway, I think they fit TTS. If there was a 10.5, that'd be ideal for me, since I think that is my "real" size, but the 11 works well too.

    ReplyDelete
  26. J.CrewJD: Thanks so much for the sizing information on the Weatherby! They have one size left that I wear sometimes (I'm between sizes too). These boots look beautiful and comfortable. I'm so tempted!

  27. Tippy, I sent you a code to your email. If you don't see it check your spam email. Josanne

  28. I got some of my 20% off items and will post reviews in the reviews post later this week. Several things going back either for size changes or just not working. Keeping several items too, though. But if new items are arriving on the 17th or 18th, I may wait til then. I have a crazy busy weekend so probably can't get there til then anyway.

  29. @Clicquot - do you know for sure if you can return mail ordered items at the Toronto store? I was wondering about that too (I recently returned a box of stuff) but decided not to risk it since I wanted to make sure I get the duty charge & UPS brokerage fee back. I think the Canadian Anthropologie stores do not accept U.S. mail order returns.

  30. IRL & Alexis, Thanks so much for your kind birthday wishes! And BTB or BYOB, I'm there! :)

  31. Louise-was wondering if you ever go the Shelby dress, and if you reviewed it. Keep me posted!!:>

  32. I won't be visiting a store this weekend but I was able to visit three J.Crew stores AND a Madewell during my short U.S. vacation this past week. What fun!

I posted an interesting article on my blog from yesterday's Financial Post about J.Crew finding a niche in the Canadian market.

  33. Went to the B&M at the MOA in MN. They had N-O-T-H-I-N-G! This was my first time in a B&M in over a year, and I was highly dissapointed. Only 5 Leopard pencil skirts (not in my size), 3 leopard perfect shirts (also not in my size), and a few of the veridian green pencil skirts (again not in my size. No sale section whatsoever.

Tried on the Tippi sweaters-- found them to be very boxy thru the body and very tight thru the arms, and not very good quality wool. Many of them already seemed to be pilling, but they were beautiful colors. Left them in the store. Also tried on the wool cafe capris-- TTS, didn't find them horribly itchy, but didn't think they were worth it either. Agin, very cheap looking fabric that looks like it would easily pill. Maybe at under $50 I would consider. Sad that I was so excited to go, I should have known better!

  34. @Pathos - Yes, I ordered the Shelby dress! My dad just mailed it to me last week, so it's on its way to me now. I'll post a review once I get it.

B&M in Bellevue: new stock on the floor next Wednesday.

CCS, I am awaiting your review of the tweed jacket!

Four more days to the Toronto J. Crew opening!! So excited!!

  40. Egyptomaniac - I was at MOA last weekend and had the same experience. My trip in the store lasted five minutes since I couldn't find my size in anything worthy of a FP purchase.

I popped into the Roosevelt Field location this past week and found a tan gingham shirt that I love. Tried on the schoolboy blazer and really like that as well. The soft spun sweater was on promo for $49.50. That's all I remember as far as promos.

I'm hoping to pop by my factory location today.

  41. The Grand Rapids store had a very tiny sale section and none of it very exciting. I did like being able to see and try on a few of the new arrivals however. I didn't expect to like the Leopard print Perfect shirt but it was nice, as was the new Medium Gingham shirt in the fatigue color...very substantial fabric! My favorite hands down was the Boy Shirt in Quincy Tartan- gorgeous colors! Unfortunately they hadn't gotten the Indigo Floral Perfect Shirt in yet as I really wanted to see it IRL. The SA said next week they should be getting a shipment of brand new items. I was sad to leave empty handed, but I'm hoping for a good online sale soon! :)

  42. Went to the Durham, NC store. They had a small sale section. Looked around but did not try anything on.

  43. I did make it into my b&m today and they did have the new catalog! I just took a quick look through it and there are a few really nice looking things in there!

  44. Another jcrew-er here excited about the new toronto store! I agree it will be interesting to see what they do with pricing. Hopefully they will be fairly reasonable. I will probably see some of you fellow aficianados out this weekend!
