Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SPRING sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. This is the first weekend in a long time when I won't be making at least one trip to the B & M. I still have a bit of a hangover from my extra 30 binge, the only new arrival I have to have is backordered, and I'm more excited about fall prospects anyway. Hello Hacking Jacket!

  2. Indeed I will, we're headed up north to visit MIL, so no trip is complete without a stop at the Willow Grove J Crew! :) Hoping I will be allowed another foray into the KoP mall, but it's unlikely. I'd like to poke around in their Madewell, and IIRC they had a freestanding CrewCuts store too. We shall see!

  3. Nope - I did plenty of damage this past week, thankfully before Final Sale kicked in. I ordered the accordion dress which popped back in my size, as well as a perfect fit tee during the 20% off & free ship promo. Happy Canada Day to the Canadian JCAs, and Happy July 4th to the Americans!

  4. Nope, I'll be skipping la Crew this weekend. Am shopped out, and glad I got what I did before final sale arrived. I'll likely go in next week to do some returns, but that's about it.

  5. Probably not, since I got plenty during the 30% off promo (which is still happening in my b&m as of this last Wednesday). But Banana is offering 40% off sale (and it's not final!) through this weekend, so I'll probably check it out.

  6. Louise, congrats on getting the Accordian Dress on popback, you will love it.

  7. No visit to J.Crew for me this weekend, either.

  8. Went yesterday and it was blah. They 'colorized' the sale. Who shops that way?

  9. I have a pile of returns to make, so I'll likely be visiting at some point in the next few days. I'm due to (finally) receive my last min. 30% off order today, so hopefully that won't have to be included in the return pile. But at least I'll have that option! ;)

Elaine, yes, you recall correctly, KoP does have a Crewcuts store. I didn't go in since I don't have anyone to buy for from there. My sister just had a baby though, so soon enough! :) Their Madewell is nice too. I got to visit that mall when I was in town about two months ago. At the time, the sale section in Madewell was packed, and with better stuff than the Crew. Nice Crew store though - none of the ones near me are that big, with a dedicated section for shoes even!

  10. MaryMoo - I've actually only seen Crew sale sections organized by color - I kind of like it! Interesting that that's new for your store, as I visit different stores all the time! I've been traveling a lot lately, so I've been to more JCs than I care to admit lately. Though I shouldn't be worried about that around here, I suppose. ;)

  11. Sorry to be such a thread hog today, but there's a short little blurb about a new JC collaboration on Refinery 29.

  12. I went to Bellevue Square for a return--the front of the store was very empty, with some tables entirely bare. Sale section crowded with a lot of junk (IMO). They are offering 30% off the sale price, which makes the sale final.

  13. jar, the collaboration - iPad2 cases - is on the jc website, under Men's - new arrivals - accessories. Imwaitinf for an iPad that can cook, so these cases have no appeal for me.

  14. I wasn't planning on it, but somehow I found myself in there today. I got the Silk Blythe Blouse in Fresh Apricot and a No. 2 Pencil Skirt that I had been eyeing for a while. And my 3rd shortcut sweater...

  15. happy 4th of July weekend! Has anyone purchased or tried on the Isla platforms? If so, how do they fit? TIA!

  16. Laurak, how much was the silk Blythe in stores? I was eying that blouse online and won't be near a Jcrew this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  17. MegCrew - The silk Blythe is also $49.99 in-stores.

  20. I stopped in while waiting for a restaurant reservation and got lucky -- my store had one silverdale purse (item 43725), which was a return and which I had never heard of and is still full price online at $325, on sale for $180 less 30%, so I got it for less than $130. It's a nicely made bag with very secure metal sequin/discs. LOVE it. Also lucky to find the Cecilia dress (42561) in white for $39.99 less 30% (orange and blue still at $99.99). For some reason, the white size 2 fit (I am nearly always a size 2 in J.Crew dresses) but the orange and blue were both large, fitting like the Schuyler dresses of last summer. Also got the faded foil dress (44359), already on sale from $158 to $99.99 (same as online), but less 30% extra in-store. This dress runs true to size, unlike the similar liberty bouquet shirtdress, which I felt ran a little on the small side through the shoulders (I sized up). Yet another find, the schoolboy eyelet blazer (37960) on sale from $148 to $89.99 in-store less 30% (still $118 online). Fit is TTS, I got my usual 2, whereas I feel like I usually size up in the schoolboys.

I have not been very excited about J.Crew's offering this spring and early summer (the only other significant purchases I made were the eyelet skirts), but I think I did well with these.

  21. Charleston, SC B&M is an additional 30% off final sale and they are giving students and educators their standard 15% off on top of that! Even the red phone honored the store's pricing on a dress they didn't have in stock in my size!! Interestingly though, the Rumi dress was 50% of the online price in store but the Caroline dress was $10 more. Can anyone explain the discrepancy in prices?

  22. So excited...just got an email that my Jardin skirt in deep purple has shipped! Can't wait to get it and will of course do a review as soon as I get it. Not getting my hopes up too high because I don't want another disappointment, but I am pretty excited to see it!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Appgal, looking forward to your review of the Jardin skirt! That colour looks so nice.

Off topic, but I have just started a giveaway event on my blog. I'm giving away a J. Crew cotton canvas tote bag PLUS a J. Crew $20 gift card. Click here for the details on how to enter.

  25. Well poo. I haven't gotten my shipment email on my purple Jardin skirt yet. Hm, I wonder why? I hope to be receiving that email very soon!

  26. @MegCrew: It was $49.99 at my B&M. They only had the fresh apricot. I'm really wanting the navy, too. It's such a lovely blouse. I've been waiting forever for it to go on sale.

    ReplyDelete
  27. LauraK- thanks for the info!
Have you tried on the fresh apricot? Is it sheer?

  28. Hey anyone. Is extra 30% still on?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Extra 30% off sale is still on at the Soho store in NYC. Found a Sparkle Flower Necklace on sale for $60 with 30% off...whoohoo!

  31. went to the South Coast Plaza, CA location and snagged the teaberry soiree skirt for $20. I think it was the last one in the store. The SA said once it was marked down during final sale with the additional 30% off, it sold like crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  32. @MegCrew It's sheer enough that you'll need a camisole underneath but not so sheer that a nude or cream cami would be really obvious...if that makes sense.

  33. hi -- I stopped by the Reston store quickly yesterday -- I returned 1 item and also bought 1 shirt from the men's sale section. It was a flannel shirt I plan on wearing around the house in the winter -- it was marked down to 19.99 and then a further 30%. But -- after I paid and was turning to leave, the sales associate who rang up my sale said "$14.69" to the sales associate next to him as he rolled his eyes. I thought he was so rude -- I felt like telling him if I was so inclined I could purchase any item in the store -- but figured he was not worth the effort. Why do people have to act that way?
    Well -- I hope everyone has a Happy 4th!

  35. Conster, the odds are much stronger that the eyerolls are for the admins who made the decisions thatt resulted in these markdowns than for a customer who fortuitously benefited.

We all know that July 4 sales, and Canada Day sales, are traditional, as are great sales and markdowns at other long weekends of national significance - that's just retailing, and if this doof read or listened to business news, he might connect Stepped-Up Pace of Sales Events with Turgid Economy. Then again, maybe that store just has a pool going on when it will close.

  36. Hexicon, I was in the Bellevue Square JC a couple of weeks ago and it looked like a wrecked outlet store. I'm not sure if it's the layout or what but when that store goes down, it goes down hard. Plus for a relatively upscale mall, they never seem to get the nicer JC items.

Conster, you were kinder than I would have been. If someone rolled their eyes at my minimal purchase, I would have said directly, "And whose fault is my small purchase? Mine or your inventory?" I would not take kindly to their attitude, especially the way their stores are looking right now.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Got an email early this morning saying the ship date for the jardin Skirt was "unfortunately" pushed back to 7/25. BIG :( guess I was not one of the lucky ones whose ordered shipped.

  38. Conster--

It is so sad that I have to say this, but outside of a *few* employees, almost ALL of the NOVA J. Crews have attitude issues. Kill them with kindness is usually my way of dealing with it, but when my kids are with me and I just don't have any energy left, I immediately ask for the manager and explain to the manager that J. Crew would probably do well to nip such behavior in the bud. When I discover that it is the manager having the "attitude" (which has happened, agh!), I just leave and hope for the best the next time I visit.

Now--and this has been the case for almost a whole year now (!!!), I don't even bother with the retail stores, even though I know they often have the best sales. I just am done with being worried about how I will be treated when in the store...it's all a bit bipolar, and I taught middle school for years and had enough of that when dealing with adolescents.

There is one exception to my no NOVA "retail" stores...I will happily go and spend money at the outlet in Potomac Mills...without fail, and every single time I have gone, I am treated well, my kids are treated well, and no one ever sniffs at any of my purchases. It is heavenly, to say the least! :)

I also love the Friendship Heights store, I have rarely experienced any attitude there...sadly it is in DC, so it requires a metro ride across the rive to go...

This probably should go in the "vent" post, but that is four days away and I feel for Conster. Ugh!

    ReplyDelete
  39. CRAP! I got an email saying my Jardin skirt in purple is pushed back to 7.25.11. Where is the darn VENT post???

  40. Conster and all, I encounter major attitude among the SAs at my stores most of the time, unfortunately, especially when shopping the sale section. I kind of make a game of it ... I go in knowing the current online prices of practically EVERY item in my snooty Collection store (often thanks to Gigi's updates), and drive them bonkers with my knowledge of their merchandise and my price match requests.

One time, one of them asked me if I was a corporate mystery shopper ... I said "You never know!"

    ReplyDelete
  41. Picked up the Leslie lace shell for $38. It's $68 online. The price differential is so annoying for those of us without a well-stocked local B&M (or muliple B&Ms). Only found this because I was in another city.

That aside, it's a beautiful piece, much prettier than it photographs. Size down 1-2 sizes for best fit if your bust is average or smaller.
