J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Candece (in this post), Gigiofca (in this post), as well as Irina, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here).

As of time posting, the latest August catalog (click here to view all catalogs) is not yet available to view. I am sure it will be up later in the morning. :)

Honestly, it is hard to think about Fall when it is so hot outside. (I think most of the country is experiencing a heat wave.) However with so many pretty things, I might just manage fine. ;) I am off to check out the new arrivals myself now...

More exciting news! J.Crew is offering free shipping with no minimum with promo code FREESHIP. This amazing offer expires today Thursday, July 21, 2011

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. I like a lot of things! Leopard print! I am buying that leopard skirt now, before it is gone! Love the new satchel (aka proenza), nothing exciting on the shoes side. Like jewelry too!

  2. I've had a good look at everything and I am curious to know what others are crushing on!
I like the navy wool capelet coat, the pencil skirt colors and the hacking jacket (which I am sure is going to be a favorite).
Would love to see the construction and lining colors IRL!!

  3. I don't see August catalog, it is only June and July, may be they are still uploading it

    ReplyDelete
  4. I am dying over the brilliant colours of the pencil skirt!! Just looking at this is enough to keep me away from the sale section!

    ReplyDelete
  5. LOVE the new tartan shirt. That blue against the black is gorgeous!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Oh I love the Ruthie shirtdress, the pencil skirts, I really hoped UK shipping would kick in for this roll out.

    Uch!

    ReplyDelete
  7. lord help me... i'm actually considering ordering corduroy pants and skirts in july.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Its normal to want a wool hacking jacket when there is a weather Heat Advisory, right? I LOVE the blue! And the flame. Wait, and the charcoal...

    My wallet is in trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Not a whole lot for me other than a few basics - new colors of pencil skirts (but not the leopard print), hacking jacket, purple perfect-fit and Jackie cardigans. I like the look of the new short perfect-fit cardi for casual wear. The Emmaleigh dress in super 120's comes in a couple of nice new colors too.

  10. Right now I'm picking out some items I want, and clipping my favorites to Polyvore. :)

    ReplyDelete
  11. Is the link to view old catalogs gone from J.Crew's site footer? Maybe they're no longer putting them online? (If so, boo!) I am eager to see how these pieces get styled before committing. I like the Elodie Blouse and the Puff-Sleeve Popover, but not much else is catching my eye yet.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I just bought 3 of the beautiful wool pencil skirts. I figured get them now before they're gone! Yow-za!!

They did a great job this Fall. When the Look Book came out they weren't showing anything that struck my fancy, but that's all changed!

So much for the no shopping restriction I put myself on...

    ReplyDelete
  13. My #1 want is the capelet coat.

I like the colors: pretty blues, poppy and bright persimmon. Some of the dresses are really cute, it's just too bad they are dry clean only. :(

I would like to see more 'pretty' casual items. Feminine tops that are machine washable and well, just pretty. I'm kind of tired of the lowest tier thin 't' shirt type tops, but I also don't have a need for the silk, dry clean only tops.

They're definitely not finished w/the web update. Most items were not 'searchable' this a.m., along w/the new catalog. Also, for a few products, they added the individual item to the screen along w/the modelled shots, so the user doesn't have to search on the item to save to polyvore.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Roxy: I believe they hid the link. I went through a polyvore catalog pic to get access and they hadn't added the new catalog yet.

  15. My favorites are the Hacking Jacket in all colors, Schoolboy in Caramel and Red, No.2 Pencil Skirt in Acorn, Viridian Green, and Gold, as well as the Perfect Shirt in Wide Stripe, and Maisie Dress in waterfloral (too bad it's priced so high). Now I just hope the quality has improved and the items don't disappoint IRL.

  16. Just so you know, the leopard print skirt is not lined. I saw it in store few weeks ago and it looked flimsy. I just chatted with CS and the 47314 (no 2 pencil) is not lined either. This is a pass for me. Too bad because the colors are beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm still really excited about all the color, mostly with the pencil skirts and blazers. Pretty cashmere colors as well. I'm looking forward to seeing in person!

    ReplyDelete
  18. ajc: Thank you for the information about the No.2 pencil skirts being unlined. That is a deal breaker for me, especially when they cost $120.

    ReplyDelete
  19. mustard. velvet. blazer. LOVE.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm pretty sure those wool pencil skirts have always been lined in the past...what a bummer. Won't that mean the wool will stick to your tights like crazy, making a slip necessary? Boo.

That will make me think about them--beautiful colors and I have always "collected" a few colors each year but if the quality has decreased I will have to think a while...

    ReplyDelete
  21. Boo-hoo! I can't find two items I really wanted. A denim pencil skirt, and the Sherpa Zip Hoodie. They usually have these items every Fall. Maybe in the coming months?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wow, unlined wool pencil skirts for fall? TOTAL dealbreaker for me. Nothing annoys me more than constantly yanking on my skirt when they stick to my tights. That was a terrible move on their part!

    ReplyDelete
  23. unlined wool pencil? ugh, no! maybe they forgot to put it in the item description? for the price it should have a lining.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Thank you ajc for the info on the pencil! I just went in and cancelled my order for the fabulous green color.
    Unlined wool?!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Okay, I've had time to really look around. Very pleased with this rollout although the thought I had in my mind as I was looking was "awww craaap" because I just kept clicking and adding things to my cart :)

    Here's what I'm loving:

*Cavalry Skirt: looks like the longer version of the Dorrie without the slightly poofy fit. Love the color.

*Dearie dress: in getaway green especially. This reminds me of the Flowy Jersey Bateau dress from a few years back, which is one of my FAVORITE dresses.

*Clipper cardigan: Looks like a nice heavyweight cardi, but wouldn't need this AT ALL since I have just about every color of the Arrow cardi from last fall.

*No. 2 Wool pencil skirts: Really loving the flame and green colors, but would have to get these on super sale without a lining in them!

*Of course, like everyone else, loving the new Schoolboy and Hacking blazers. The camel and flame colors are calling to me.

*The Ruthie shirtdress is really cute.

*Really wish that they'd made some chinos in the flame color! Been looking for some like that.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I ditto all comments! Wool without lining in South Florida EVEN during the winter = NO WAY! I preordered the wool capri's because of the colors, I will call to cancel! Glad I bought my pencil skirts over the years..... so sad :(

    ReplyDelete
  27. The leopard Pia pumps are on the way to me now. I only saw them in the preview and preordered and now that I see better pics I'm so excited to receive them.

I've been looking for a camel colored pencil skirt and there are several new ones in the suiting section but they're all 22", that dreadful "falls above knee" that J. Crew does. I can't wear those to work so I'll be looking elsewhere. There is one much longer pencil skirt that I would buy if it were in some nice colors.

Loving the leopard Tippi sweater which I would wear with my nonexistent camel pencil skirt.

Can't believe they're making skirts without linigs.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I am glad if I saved you some returns. I was suspicious after seeing leopard skirt but still could not believe when I chatted with CS. She took long time to answer and then said 'they are not lined. I'm sorry'. I am sorry too... it is different in summer cotton skirt and even then I don't like it but with wool it is a must. Sure, you can wear a slip but they just don't work the same as regular lining.

    ReplyDelete
  29. ajc, thanks for the info on the wool pencil skirts. I am sensitive to wool and no way would be able to wear these skirts without a lining. What a huge disappointment. That is just crazy that any retailer would make a wool skirt without a lining.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The price of the cashmere tee is now $128 - didn't it used to be $98? That's a big jump!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Kristin, the Cashmere Zip-Front Hoodie used to be $188, now it's $218!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Ditto w/most- I'm eying the Tippi sweater, the cabled fisherman, the wool capris, the martinee trench looks cute in navy, a velvet school blazer in chartreuse, and the hacking jacket. Nothing in the tee-shirt section looked appealing at all. I also like the Ryder suede boots if the suede is good quality, it says leather sole, so I hope they are IRL.

    ReplyDelete
  33. new double-serge wool pencil skirts! 'nuff said.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Nothing really caught my eye except for a belt. 1 1/2 inches wide, square buckle in a faded black/dark brown #50491 for $68. Tossed it in the basket as I thought about the freeship code. Checked out the sale items.

Then I found a pair of charcoal sharkskin pants #11708 that days ago were $225, and now they are $49.20. "Hello" into the cart and off to checkout.

Another pair of gray wool pants, yes it seems to be a theme, do I have 6 or 7 pairs now in varying shades of gray? But $50, come on it was a no brainer.

    ReplyDelete
  35. loving the capelet coat and the fisherman henley.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Aww, they did a really nice job with the crewcuts kids pages.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I love that Crew is bringing back some rich jewel tones for fall but I agree with you comments re: no lining for wool pieces? Big thumbs down!

I'm not huge over the animal prints typically but I want to order the perfect shirt in leopard immediately - and that ruthie shirtdress is divine (and probably unlined too!)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Noooo, can't believe they're not lining!!! Ugh. So disappointed. What an insane way to cheap out.

    ReplyDelete
  39. The velvet blazer in Poppy will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine. Quite a few lovelies that I will be after...massive bummer if the wool pencil skirts are not lined. How ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Looks like there is a new Flare jean cut...it says "higher rise"...here's hoping it is the High Heel Flare next generation!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I got the August catalog a few days ago from a nice SA, but it was fun seeing all the new things that weren't in the catalog. I love the Perfect Shirt in Indigo Floral,Boy Shirt in Quincy Tartan,Fisherman's Henley Sweater, and one quirky little item...the Ladies' calf hair watch strap! I'm hoping to see these IRL this afternoon! :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Confirmed again the double serge skirts and the ruthis shirt dress are both unlined!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm so disappointed that the wool skirts aren't lined! I love the bright purple, but now I'll just wait until they're deeply discounted - if I can stand the itchiness. Like everyone else, I love the hacking jacket, but can't decide on a color. And I'm intrigued by the ruthie dress.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Loving the schoolboy jacket in herringbone and the hacking jackets. Still in disbelief about the pencil skirts!! Can anyone tell me what sweater the model is wearing in the collection photo above? I love that green :) TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I am also traumatized by the lack of lining on EVERY single wool bottom-- did any one else notice that none of the wool suiting pants are lined either? It used to only be the Super120s pants that were unlined, but unless they opted not to list it (which is insane and highly unlikely based on my experience), the stretch wool, wool crepe, and wool gabardine pants are now all unlined as well. No more J.Crew suiting for me. Also no more J.Crew wool pencil skirts, wool capris, etc. . . . so disappointing!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I cannot imagine the discussion that went on at J Crew: 'Let's skip the lining and save $1 on each skirt. Woman don't really care about the lining. We have been making unlined wool pants after all' Is that what they were thinking??? Surprise! We care. We were tights with those pencil skirts in the winter and the unlined skirts ride up and twist.

I am just thinking that when those skirts make it to final sale there will be a lot of dissapointed unaware folks who will receive them and won't believe their eyes after opening the package.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Also, re. the Tippi sweater- I ordered it in ivory because I was so thrilled at the prospect of an ivory merino item, but it was so see-through that it was a joke. We are talking entire nude bra and belly-button visible even though it was loose-fitting. Not okay.

    ReplyDelete
  48. They also decided to jack up the cashmere prices at the last minute, it seems. I was quoted $198 for the cashmere cable sweater on pre-order; it is $228 now. The cashmere turtleneck in the Collection pages (the "looks" pages) is listed as $158, but it is $178 on the product page.

I'm so happy to see the old JCrew back, but because my closet is bursting, there's nothing I "have" to have, but I might pick up a basic or two.

I love the cavalry skirt, too, but does anyone else think it might not be so flattering from behind?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Thanks FMM! I'll have to wait for that one to go on sale :) that's ok - it's July after all!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Quick little update on my score of the Ludlow pant that is normally $225 and I grabbed a pair for $49.20. The item number I ordered about two hours ago is now MIA. When I ordered there was a complete size run, now there are none. Guessing someone at J.Crew made a slip up and there was no way the pants were supposed to be $49.20.

Should I feel guilty? Funny bit it my word verification for this post began with the letters 'grab'

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oops! I meant schoolboy in houndstooth - not herringbone. And I called FFM by FMM! Sorry! No coffee yet this morning! :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oh I am so excited. I pretty much want every color of the Hacking jacket in herringbone (48263), New café capri in wool (49398),
No. 2 pencil skirt in double-serge wool (47314) in every color except black, No. 2 pencil skirt in gilded tweed (47737), Valentina pumps (49073) in every color! Well that is just to name a few. I am so excited about the lower pumps...and that nude color is just so amazing. I am so curious about the quality of all of these items...can't wait to hear reviews. Also, I am in love with pretty much all of the cashmere, but the last few pieces I received from J Crew were scratchy so I am nervous that they will continue this way.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I was just about to come on here and rave about the new pencil skirts etc but now I am seriously disturbed as well about the lack of lining. Also wool cafe capris don't say they're lined; I'm pretty sure that means they're not. So sad; colors are so pretty. :(

    ReplyDelete
  54. I would only consider getting a No. 2 wool pencil skirt if they were discounted say, under $50, making feel better about taking them to my tailor to have her add a lining. Seriously. I hope they read all these comments and come out with a new, lined batch.

I must say though, I'm almost relieved because now I don't feel the pressure to buy them at full price before they sell out...

    ReplyDelete
  55. Does anyone know if this year's cashmere is better or worse than prior year's?

    ReplyDelete
  56. OK I just went to online chat to confirm. The CS rep said she was going to pull a skirt to check. She said they *are* lined:
    ****
Thank you so much for waiting. The wool No 2 Pencil Skirt is fully lined with gorgeous a silk lining. The Wool Cafe Capri's are not lined. However, they are super soft and do not need a lining.
    ****

Still bummed about the cafe capris but I won't be able to wear the cropped pants to work anyway, so I shouldn't be spending the money on those...

    ReplyDelete
  57. Cass: Thanks for double-checking! Good to know.

However...GOOD LORD J.Crew! Get your act together! We shouldn't have to be super-sleuths to find out the most basic information for your items!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I am ordering the Dearie dress in the green color...that is my only "must have" for right now. I'm ordering a few other knits/tees to accent other items already in my wardrobe. Like several other posters, I would like to see more "nice" machine washable tops - not tees, and not dry-clean-only silks (although they are beautiful and well-priced - I have and love the Blythe blouse). I like all of the colors of the pencil skirts and the hacking jacket, but I personally think those colors will look dated in a year or two, so I am glad classic colors are still being offered as well. I am crushing on the capelet coat but I think it might look maternity on me since I'm tall with broad shoulders. I did notice the increased price in some of the cashmere sweaters. I can't say I'm surprised.

    ReplyDelete
  59. The prices on the shoes are so high :(

But I love the blue hacking jacket and all the animal prints!

    ReplyDelete
  60. ok, sorry for the false alarm. i chatted again and cass is right:

Barbara: Our New Cafe Capri in Wool is lined at the waistband only.

You: how about the no 2 wool pencil skirt?

Barbara: Our No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Double-serge Wool is fully lined.

You: have you seen the skirt? i was told before that it is not. can you please tell me what is the lining fabric?

Barbara: The lining is 100% polyester with a satin look and feel.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Oh, and PS: J.Crew, please stop using so much acrylic in your sweaters. I won't buy the ones with acrylic in them, especially when they're so expensive!

    ReplyDelete
  62. So strange how we can get different responses from cs. The only way we know for sure is see it in person.

    ReplyDelete
  63. For those of you who are interested in Memo suiting dress but concern about low cut here is what I got:

Barbara: The neck drop is 4.5 inches from your center thorax (that little dip at the base of the front of your neck) to top edge of the dress.

I measured it and it looks like a perfect drop, not too deep.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I really wish they would start lining their corduroy pencil skirts too. Those are the ones that ride up the most, and it is rare that I'm NOT wearing tights when it's cool enough to wear corduroy. The Autumn Bluegrass color is gorgeous!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I am wearing my bright pink wool double surge pencil skirt right now and I love it. I sure hope the new ones fit just like the ones from last year. I have to have that green color! Thank you so much JCA's for looking into the lining :) That would have been a major deal breaker for me!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Annoying, I just did the customer service chat, and my CS said the skirt was not lined...??!!

Omg, whatever, I ordered it anyways, we'll see what happens. Jcrew, as a retailer in the biz for what, 20+ years, shouldn't lining your skirts be like, second nature?

    ReplyDelete
  67. I just spoke with the online chat re:lining on the No.2 double serge wool skirt, and after a long wait, here's what I was told:

"I just found out that the skirt is fully lined and the Mock Store associate said that the lining is really pretty."

"The lining is 100% Polyester and the lining is a solid color - tan for the Vibrant Flame color and a tanish/gold for the Spicy Gold color - so different hues of color."

    ReplyDelete
  68. Love:

Telegraph pencil skirt. 27" long = appropriate for court, etc, and won't ride up when I set. If I ever go into law practice I will be needing several of these :)

Silk Lucinda Blouse in TALL!!! Yay. I will be getting the red and light blue, if not the gold also.

I, like everyone else, love the new double serge pencils, but the only color I need is the green. I already have some variation of all the other colors...

And my closet is bursting, like someone else said. I love alot of the items but I don't really need anything more. I have similar items from seasons past.

Oh, and I MUST have the trench with the tulle. I will be buying that. It is unusual for me to spend that much on one piece but it looks like a worthy piece.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I see a lot of leopard print. Love the cashmere tee and the cashmere ribbed sweater.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Ladies who love the viridian green, what color would you pair that with? The purple/green combo they are pushing on the website is just too much for me IRL.

    ReplyDelete
  71. This is ridiculous. I just did the online chat and was told by CS the no. 2 skirt is unlined.

If that is true, I won't be ordering, either, until a deep, deep discount. How bloody cheap can you go, j.crew?

Would be ordering one today if they were lined, and I say this as we're about to get hit with triple-digit temperatures & expected to set a record high.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Lambskin lumini jacket (but way too much for my budget) and technicolor tweed jacket look very nice.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Let's stop and think for a minute. It would be completely ludicrous for a thick wool skirt to be unlined.

It is not ludicrous, however, for J.Crew to 1) be inconsistent and 2)leave pertinent info out of product descriptions.

So I am going with it being lined because why on earth would it be UNLINED? No one would buy it! Even they know that... I hope.

    ReplyDelete
  74. So, curious re: lining on the pencil skirts, I just chatted:

Erin: Hello! How may I help you today?

    You: Hi Erin.

You: I am wondering if the No 2 pencil skirt in double serge wool is lined?

    You: Item 47314

You: The website does not state.

Erin: I am sorry, but this item is not lined. Only items that are lined will list they are lined in the product details online.

Okay, so now I am more confused than ever! So much conflicting info.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I just chatted with Erin too and she said it was unlined....

    The saga continues.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Cass: I think it would look beautiful with grays and silver accessories. Also muted yellows or golds would look nice. That is the one color I will probably have to have in the pencil skirt (provided it is lined).

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'm not 100% won back, but I like this collection more than I've liked anything in the last couple of years. Love all the brilliant purples! And suiting dresses that are actually work-appropriate.

I'm holding off on placing an order until I get my law school ID--I am really looking forward to that educator discount!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Just got through the comments--WTH on the pencil skirt lining issue? I've been cranky for a long time about the matte cotton-blend linings, because for those of us who must wear hosiery to the office it just sticks to the nylons/tights and makes the skirt twist.

And personally I don't mind the lack of lining in the 120s pants because the wool is so soft and light, though I know that's an issue for a lot of women. But if they did not line those heavy double-serge pencil skirts they are @$*&ing nuts.

    ReplyDelete
  79. OK, one more comment: Cashmere SS tee shirts were $98!!! yesterday. WTH?

    ReplyDelete
  80. Hopefully I can score a catalog from the store at lunch. I'll try to remember to check for the skirts to see if they're lined. Fingers crossed!

Love the Ruthie dress but with it was a bit longer. Overwhelmed by all the color and jackets!

  82. I am soooooo happy to have Jcrew back. Does anyone feel the same way? It is like a sigh of relief for me. I was worried... We have color, blazers, longer skirts, great pants, button up shirts galore, pretty shoes. Here are the items on my, I wish it wasn't in the 100* list:

    Silk Lucinda blouse
    Puff-sleeve popover in end-on-end
    Perfect shirt with french cuffs
Stretch perfect shirt in brilliant stripe
    Finespun puff-sleeve tee
    Fisherman's henley sweater
    Pouch-pocket cardigan
    Schoolboy blazer in wool flannel
    Schoolboy blazer in velvet
    Bonnie dress in toile jacquard
    Dearie dress
    New café capri in wool
    Aviator chino
No. 2 pencil skirt in double-serge wool
    Cavalry skirt
Telegraph pencil skirt in Super 120s

Yes, you can see I'm in trouble. I honestly can't order any of them until the temps go down so I hope they make it that long.

I'm sad that there are some skirts and a dress missing that were in the preview but over all I am happy and really happy with longer skirt lengths (we need some longer dresses now).

    ReplyDelete
  83. There is Size 18 and 20 in the Special Sizes. I repeat, there is sizes 18 and 20 in the special sizes.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Does anyone know when the satin strappy pointed toe pumps will be available? That was probably my top item and they are no where to be found.

    ReplyDelete
  85. somebody please check the new pencil skirts in store and report back please! I will go this evening as I have some returns but if anybody goes earlier please let us know. This is nuts.

On the positive note I have to say that I do love the colors and I am considering the capri pants in citron but will have to check how they feel, lack of lining does not bother me that much in pants although I prefer lined.

Another item I like is the Rigby saddle bag. I was it in store and it is really cute. I just cannot justify as I own equally cute little red couch bag but if you don't it is very nice especially with some kind of 20% off.

I may order the Memo dress in peacock. I like the banquette but I returned due to low cut and sleeves that were not long enough to wear alone in the winter and bunched up under cardis. This one seems not so low cut (see my note before) and has longer sleeves, yay!

I may get the flame no 2 pencil if it is lined.

I like the viridian, but I think the green skirt that I saw in store was not this one but nicer, tweed one. Of course it will be more $$$ but i want to wait to see.

    Also, I already bought the
Skinny leather belt in cobalt blue, it is wonderful color to wear with black and the leather is really nice and soft. Not so skinny either which is plus to me.

Another thing I bought (don't judge me please) is the Printed scarf in wool but in bright flame (like the tank) and it is very flattering shade, love it.

Vapids is my veryfication word, strangely appropriate lol

    ReplyDelete
  86. sorry to hog but Cass, I would try the viridian green with camel or sienna top and brown shoes to tone it down a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I put Petite No. 2 pencil skirt in double-serge wool in Heather Acorn in my shopping cart like 2 seconds ago, now it's saying it's sold-out. :(

    ReplyDelete
  88. I thought the stores were saying they aren't getting the new arrivals until next Tuesday, so it may not be possible to check the skirts today. I did ask my online PS about them and she said they are lined, but that the Leopard version is not. It appears they are selling quickly but if you miss out today it is highly likely there will be a waitlist for them.

  90. I think the new items are a perfect entry into fall. The colors are great.

I bought the Dream cardigan in heather dusk. I have Cambridge and cashmere cardigans in heather dusk and I love them. Very versatile color, works for 3 seasons.

I love the new clove color for the Coddington suede pumps. Not sure yet if I want to pay FP, I'll think about it. I'm not crazy about the other new shoes which is a good thing since I'm very shoe rich right now. :)

    ReplyDelete
  91. Cass: I would also try it with navy blue or pink. The new saddle color of the Jackie would work, too.

    ReplyDelete
  92. OK JCAs, how many times have you gone to the J Crew web site already today?? Me, 5 times. :) Just when I think I'm done looking, I go back. I should just leave it up all day. :)

    ReplyDelete
  93. Di, I saw that, and noticed that all of the items are wedding or event dresses. I think it's great.

I also noticed that the new double serge skirts come in size 16. I appreciate this as I have wider hips and often buy a 16 in pencil skirts and have the waist taken in---unless the skirt has a lot of stretch the 14 is often too tight across my hips.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Of course, after going through the catalog over and over last night and finally seeing the selections online, what do I pull the trigger on? The Darlington Satchel in Bright Indigo...I can't wait until it gets here.

OT: I saw some of the new Fall items for Talbots and may get my animal-print fix from there. Loving the Cheetah Tie-Neck Top.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I've been studying the new releases (which by the way AN IN-STORE SA TOLD ME YESTERDAY AT THE 15TH ST FLAGSHIP WOULD NOT BE ONLINE TIL NEXT WEEK - PERSONALLY INTERVIEWED BY DEAR LEADER MY FOOT!). I too am puzzled by the Pencil Skirt Conundrum, but am also concerned by what's said and not said about the schoolboy blazers.

    ReplyDelete
  96. @jacquelyn I am ridiculously excited about it all. I'm anywhere from a 14-20 depending on the fit, the fabric, and the phase of the moon. And, scrolling down to tick over to Size 16 to see what was new, my jaw dropped seeing A. Size 18/20 and B. Extended Calf Boots.

I think it's great that they are starting with weddings / events as they are ridiculously profitable. I'm really crossing my fingers for a more complete line sometime soon.

Took the edge off the Encore Trench coming up to only size 14. Meaning, I'd have to hunt for it to try it on. Or Email a PS for exact measurements.

  97. I loooooooove all these bright colors!! The No. 2 pencil skirt has all the colors I've missed on getting in past seasons, but I'm surprised no one's noted the $10 price increase! They used to be $110, now they're $120. Bummer. I am also definitely getting at least one pair of the wool cafe capri, I am obsessed with the pink, and I love the blue too! And the citron...

Re: the wool skirt lining. I am guessing that the CS's that are saying it is unlined are going off the item description, which leaves out mention of it being lined. The ones saying it is lined have actually checked it out. That is what would make sense.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Chatting with a personal shopper...new arrivals are in stores today! Such a hard spot to be in...order online...wait to go to my B&M tomorrow. Ahhh...what to do!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Stene, thanks for the info! Looks like I will be speeding to my store after work today... muahahaha. So glad the mall is on the way home!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Just called the Mall at Millenia J.Crew to double-check and they aren't getting the new arrivals until next week. It's probably a good idea to call your local B&M to see if they did get them in today.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Does anyone know if the purple wide-leg pants from the preview (I think they were paired with a grey cropped sweater and light blue button-up with yellow bracelets) will be a part of this roll-out? I've been looking forward to those but I haven't seen them yet.

    ReplyDelete
  102. FYI: The next batch of No.2 pencil skirts go out on 8.15.11. My size sold out in the green and is now waitlisted for that date.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Chiming in on the lining conundrum re:pencil skirts. Asked about Viridian green one in particular, mentioned the confusion, and presence of lining has been confirmed. So am pulling the trigger on the size 8. Also asked the chest size of the medium Tippi sweater-- this is 36", if anyone is interested. The green Hacking jacket is beckoning as I wear jackets everyday for work.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Annie,

According to my PS, "The pants will be offered in the color Dark Eggplant for around $250 in sizes 00-14—this item will actually also be debuted for holiday."

  105. I just visited the Polaris store- new arrivals on Monday. They didn't even have the catalog yet to put out! I'm so used to it being available when new arrivals are available online.

They had some of the sweaters with acrylic, long sleeved tees, and shoes that are new. For anyone in the Columbus area, they've been bumped up a tier, so they'll be getting more stuff, like shoes. Unfortunately none of the much-discussed pencil skirts.

Did notice that sale is 40% off now, final sale of course. Left with a plaid boy shirt for $12.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Thanks for the info ElleBelle! Guess I still have a ways to go (and time to save those pennies) until they come out :D

Still eying the double serge in spicy gold though.

    ReplyDelete
  107. My my...the green double surge is sold out of the size 4 already...wait listed until august 15th! Also, good idea to check with the B&M about the new items arrivals...I think the lady I was chatting with was off her rocker.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Anyone know when the catalog will up on the website?

    ReplyDelete
  109. Hmm, really hoping they'll put the "Browse Catalog" link up again. Like others have noted it looks like they don't have the August catalog up in the catalogs section yet. I chatted with a sales person last night who said they'd request to have the link back up.

Part of me is terrified that this is part of a new strategy to not put up catalogs online anymore (!!!) and that I may be the reason for it, though I'm very much hoping that's not the case. But then I tell myself that doesn't make much sense in terms of marketing as far more people see the JC site than my blog...

    ReplyDelete
  110. The 2008 serge pencils were $128. I don't remember how much they were the past two years, but the price point has always been somewhere around there. I will be passing this year on these as I was very disappointed on last year's iteration and I still have 3 from 2008 or 2009.

I do want that pretty tweedy skirt and one of the cable cashmere sweater. I am also holding out on the double cloth trench from the fall lookbook in the caramel which my PS says will be $325.

I was hoping the Alice skirt from Net-a-Porter would be online today :( .

    ReplyDelete
  111. Can I just say that J Crew SO OWES THIS BLOG A HUGE FAVOR because I am sure that double-serge skirt is selling out because of all the excitement that's been generated BY THIS BLOG! Because how can an item that has not been SEEN by MOST be sold out within a day of its debut ON THE INTERNET? Alexis, JC owes you--and everyone else here--BIG TIME.

As for me, I'm going to wait until the leaves start falling to shop for fall. Even if I do miss out on some items, as pretty as they are. Aren't I a party-pooper? ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  112. Thanks for the color suggestions ladies. I decided to go ahead and order, and think online is better than in-store purchase because remember you have 60 days to return versus 30 in-store. If there is a promo or markdown in that time period, I can rebuy. I'm sure I won't be wearing the wool before that time period anyway. I think the skirts are lined b/c the CS that told me that supposedly went to pull the item from the mock store. If it turns out not to be lined, it will be a prompt return.

Btw, life as a cat, i LOVE your blogger pic. :)

    ReplyDelete
  113. I talked with a SA at the Collection store yesterday and she confirmed that the new arrivals are due in store next Monday, so I don't think that any NYC store has the new collection out today as they always receive the new merchandise early.
However they had the cashmere cable sweaters for quite some time now and they are gorgeous (same price than online). The cashmere is of the softest quality (even if not super-thick) and the shades are one more beautiful than the other one.

I really like the capelet coat and I hope that they will receive it on Monday so I can check it IRL. I will probably pull the trigger on the wool flannel schoolboy blazer in heather caramel since I miss on it every year.

    ReplyDelete
  114. On the skirt "selling out," I wouldn't panic. I'm betting the first batch they are putting out now in July is quite small and they will have plenty coming in their future shipments, i.e. Aug. 15 and on. Unless you live in Alaska, I doubt you will want to wear the skirt before then anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Wow, lots of confusion on the skirt lining.

Just to clear one thing up, the No. 2 pencil skirt in leopard is NOT made of wool. . .it is cotton. Therefore, I would not expect a lining. It is also machine washable, which I prefer.

I went ahead and ordered the leopard pencil skirt today with the free ship promo because I get much more use out of a cotton skirt where I live. I do think it is a bit pricey at $118, but since it is a great print, I'm willing to pay the full price as I can wear right away.

Hope that clears up some confusion! On my wish list are the wool cafe capris in one of the fun bright colors!

    ReplyDelete
  116. Cass: Today was definitely a small batch of the skirts. I think there were only 9 of each color and size went they were put online this morning.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I love the following items:
    Calvary skirt
    Ruthie shirt dress
    Fine spun puff sleeve top
    Bonnie blouse

As I am overseas I want to order items (I want all! but likely will have to make some cuts) when I visit family in the States at end of the month.

While I can return them via post I won't have time to get replacement sizes (no Jcrew store in the town we are visiting).

Does anyone know if any of these run large or small or what???

    Help!

    ReplyDelete
  118. Annie -- I'm totally excited for those eggplant wool trousers too! I'm insane to be wishing for Holiday already :)

    ReplyDelete
  119. With regards to the No.2 Pencil Skirt, did anyone else find that they were able to size down in this one? I found that last year's iteration stretched so much that I could take a size smaller in this year's spring version. So I wonder if being in wool will mean I should go back to my regular size?

Reviews, please, as soon as anyone has one in their hot little hands!

    ReplyDelete
  120. Sorry for being a post hog! I just ordered the Velvet Schoolboy Blazer in Poppy, ONLY because it's online only and I know it won't be in the new Toronto store next month. Everything else, I'm waiting to see in person :)

Will post a review as soon as I get it!

  121. Loving the new schoolboy satchel in indigo and the Marlow satchel.

    the indigo color is gorgeous!

    ReplyDelete
  122. I love the valentina pumps but that is a high price for a man made sole and inset. Love the calf hair belt. I will be buying that today!

    ReplyDelete
  123. The browse catalog link from a Google cache copy of the main web page works, it does lead you to the catalogs. But no August catalog yet.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Sara, I like the Valentina pumps too. At least they have a leather lining. Personally I don't care that much for the leather soles as I usually get them soled in rubber to prevent slipage. But the leather lining is a must for me.

Price is way too high. Talbots have very similar pumps for $139 and I find quality and comfort of their shoes better than J Crew. They have them in leopard and slingback version with 2" heel in yellow and red for $129 and pointy flats with 1 1/4" heel for $109. They will probably have some kind of 20% off as well, putting them in much more reasonable price range for the quality/style.

    ReplyDelete
  125. ajc: amen! Talbots shoes are SOOOO much more comfortable than J.Crew. They almost always have a leather lining, too. I love the J.Crew ones but the price is way above what I would ever pay for shoes.

    ReplyDelete
  126. I asked J.Crew customer service about the missing catalogs on their website.
Answer:I'm sorry to tell you that the Browse Catalog feature will no longer be available online. However, we appreciate your feedback and I will certainly pass your comments along to the appropriate team.

  128. I am sorry to see the Browse feature gone I used it since I no longer receive the catalog.

Love the color options for Fall even though it is so hard to think of Fall with temperatures around 96degrees + humidity here in Ontario Canada.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Re the online catalog:
I'd love to know why!! It's one of the best features on the site. The ability to click on the catalog and go directly to the merchandise was really helpful. Plus, I don't always get the catalog as quickly as I would like (now, please!). Who am I kidding, I loved spending part of my life "click" saving "click" catalog pages to pv "click".

  132. where is the red dress from the fall lookbook???

    ReplyDelete
  133. Okay library dress is gone, hope a fellow jca got it! :)

Hard to comment on phone but love a lot from the rollout but have a lot that is similar so may only get a piece or two from this rollout...

    ReplyDelete
  134. Red dress is coming on next roll out.

    ReplyDelete
  135. laughter through tears: I asked CS about the Red Dress last week and was told that it will debut in September for $198 (price subject to change). She said that red is the only color it will come in, but did not have any further information.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Whoa, I missed the drama over the No. 2 wool pencil skirts. I am going to bet they are lined - it would utterly ridiculous to expect customers to pay $120 for an unlined wool skirt. And the Bonnie dress in the jewel tone jacquard looks amazing. But I will hold out until the Toronto store opens next month, because I would like to see the pieces in person. I am armed with a Yorkdale gift certificate already. If either item is as good as it looks online, I am on it!

The Pierce oxfords look nice but the 4 1/4 heel looks dangerously high. I desperately wish J. Crew would come out with some shoes that have a heel of 3" or less.

    ReplyDelete
  137. The summer's playa skirt was NOT lined and I didn't think that cotton number worked....I cannot imagine a wool pencil skirt unlined being functional or comfortable. Agree about the heel heights....hello? Where do you wear these.?

    ReplyDelete
  138. Thank you for the freeship code!! You saved me $23. :) I owe you!!!

    ReplyDelete
  139. I’m back in forth on Perfect shirt in Leopard. I really need to try it on to see if I can handle that much leopard print. I also want to see how thin it is. I’m hit or miss with these perfect shirts lately. I’m so afraid it will sell out though…hmm..

I like the Silk Lucinda blouse too. Simple, clean. I’ve seen a lot of these type shirt pop up and love them….but I want a good quality one, so I hope this one is it. Hope my B&M gets it in next week.

And I hope this changes…but I’m sad no black toothpick cords. :( I didn’t like the fade look of last year’s black, so was hoping J.Crew would go back to a straight black this year. Such a great basic and I used to live in mine. Maybe it will pop up in the fall along with the flame color in the toothpick cords.

    ReplyDelete
  140. ooh...a lot to love in this next rollout! i'm especially interested in the capelet coat and ethel trench and curious about that leopard jacket! i'm not one for animal prints but intrigued!

off topic, but did anyone go to the 'secret' sale at the collection/wedding store in nyc? i got there at opening yesterday and tho the selection was limited i somehow managed to walk of the store with a few new things. like ema mentioned, the SA said they were offering this sale to move out the summer stuff and bring in the fall...should be hitting the racks early next week.

    ReplyDelete
  141. OK, am I the only one who screamed CRAP when I saw FOUR new MINI skirts with this roll-out? The sale section is full of them. And, why oh why must they put the most lovely fabric, the blue jacquard, on a MINI skirt? On a positive note: I also love the No. 2 pencil skirts (if lined), wool capris, wool blazers, and the Ruthie dress and Jacquard print dress. My favorite is the Masaie print dress but why must the price be SOOOO high????? I was Meh on the shoes this time except the new colors in the Coddingtons. I think the patent looks like plastic and last time I tried pointy-toes I ruined the tip on them. I think I mentioned before that I tried the Mona pumps and they run really small and were very uncomfortable. Oh and I called my local store (VEGAS) and was told the new items would be in on Tuesday.

    ReplyDelete
  142. NO ONLINE CATALOG? WHAT THE HE** ARE THEY THINKING? OH RIGHT, THEY'RE NOT!

Boy am I cranky. I got up at 2:30 am local time because I was like a little kid on Christmas! I just could not wait!

    ReplyDelete
  143. laughter through tears--to add to FFM: I was told the dress was wool crepe.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Shekster- we are on the same page.

I too was totally scratching my head. It isn't a secret around here that I don't like them and it is obvious that others don't either because even a store in Vegas can't sell them. I agree that if they would add some inches to them they would be adorable!

I did like the roll out though...

So when I was in last they said something about a preview at our store on saturday night or morning (can't remember). If they email me like they should I'll let you know!

    ReplyDelete
  145. I'm suffering from Christmas morning syndrome too and when I refer to them and scratching my head in the first paragraph I'm referring to minis. The day is almost over!

    ReplyDelete
  146. Crewcuts merch is now being sold in Walnut Creek.

    ReplyDelete
  147. CCS, I will be interested on your take on the leopard skirt when you get it. I own a number of J. Crew's cotton pencil skirts from past seasons and all of them are lined. I'm not sure about an unlined skirt, but I like the print enough that I may try it.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Oh, and I stopped into the men's section and saw the new Timex Andros dive watch. I love it!!! I am seriously thinking of selling off my Timex military watch to get this one.

    ReplyDelete
  149. I started it, so I thought I will put an end to it. NO 2 SKIRT ARE LINED! I saw them myself (in Paramus NJ concept store)
Fits TTS with maybe a little bit smaller waist. They only had black anad grey so I cannot report on colors.

I tried on the purple wool capri pants and I really liked the fit (TTS and not too narrow in calf). They are unlined and I think that if you are very sensitive they will be slighthly scratchy. The purple and blue are beautiful, they did not have citron that I want.

They also had light pink tweed no 2 pencil skirt, I think it was in the lookbook, for $128. Very nice similar to the one they had last year (or was it too years ago?) The waist on this one was a little looser and it had a little flap pocket in front.

I also tried the Memo dress which saved me a return. It is too low cut for me. Other than that it fitted tts with a bit more waist definition than some other suiting dresses.

    ReplyDelete
  150. I also tried on the schoolboy and hacking jacket (in charcoal).

The striped schoolboy is kind of interesting, but in general I don't like the fit of schoolboy and it did not change. When it fits me in the chest, it is boxy and too wide in the shoulders.

The hacking jacket had a better fit and I liked that it is longer and (I think) narrower in shoulders. But the charcoal version was very unremarkable, I would never look at it, if it was hanging let's say at Macy's. The wool seemed scratchy, but maybe it was the fact that it was 100 degrees outside :)

    ReplyDelete
  151. Lots to love at first look, but sounds like many items may turn out to be a disappointment. I just don't like unlined pencil skirts. I loved the look of the Aurora tweed skirt last year, but w/o lining, it showed bumps I didn't even think I had! I really wanted the leopard skirt, but I don't know if I can do unlined....

Also sad to hear if the hacking jacket is narrower in the shoulders than the schoolboy - I have the opposite problem as ajc - if it fits in the shoulders it's too boxy in the chest/waist. Sad face. Oh well, I couldn't afford to buy everything I loved anyway!
