  1. I need to profess some serious love for an apparently old-but-goodie -- the merino Marzipan cardis! Somehow these escaped my attention when they were in stores, but thanks to the lovely Tamara, I'm now the proud owner of 4 of them, and all i can say is WOW....!

I'm in love with these little sweaters. I've worn my poor Melanies to shreds; I just love their little cabochon buttons. For some reason I've always preferred the merino cardis to the cotton ones; I have a few Jackies and just never reach for them.

Anyhoo, as many of you know, these Marzipans are super lightweight, so they will be ideal for spring and summer in the South, for wearing at the office, etc. They are just precious. The buttons are gorgeous. I would lay them on my bed and roll in them if it would not smoosh them.

    Looooooooove. *makes googly eyes; sighs*

Also, I got the toothpick ankle jeans in bliss wash from final sale and while I do adore them and they fit perfectly, they are truly more of a jegging than regular toothpicks. As a member of the pear family (ie, I'm a bit hippy) it would be a little obscene of me to wear them to work. If I can just get my saddlebags whittled down, though, they'll be a win. esp at $35!

  2. Elaine, Your post made me laugh. Those cardis were so underrated and I agree with you completely. I have the pink champagne and berry and love them dearly. I actually just put a listing of things together on Polyvore to sell that includes an aubergine one. I love it, but it just doesn't work on me and it needs to go to someone who will love it, but letting her go is tough! I wish they would start doing more colors in the Jenna as I love it too.

Ann Taylor put out some merino ones for the 09 holiday season with slightly bell shaped sleeves and blingy buttons. I think I bought every color. You can run across them on eBay once in a while and some of them were in brighter colors. I love them too when I want a longer sleeved sweater.

By the way, I live in Florida and agree with you on merino v. cotton.

  3. Elaine, I'm so happy that you're pleased with the Marzipans. They really are beautiful, perfect weight for spring, I wish J Crew would bring them back! I too prefer merino to cotton, merino holds its shape better, takes (and holds) dyes better, and lasts longer. Kitsmommy, I remember that aubergine color, it was beautiful.

J CREW: PLEASE BRING BACK THE MARZIPAN CARDIGAN. Thank you. :)

  4. I have some customer service love to spread today. I noticed that the Heidi dress in black popped up in my size in the sale section today (I already have it and love it in the color-blocked grey).

I ordered it, and it wasn't over $100, so afterward I called and asked about the shipping, since I placed an order over $100 yesterday. The customer service rep said they would waive the shipping on today's order.

That made me happy - JCrew, it is these little things that really make for loyal customers!

  5. carmencatalina, pls let me know if you find that your 2 heidi dresses fit differently. my prince of wales one has a weird area just south of the chest where the fabric poofs out and makes me look like i have one big saggy boob, lol! (when in reality i simply have none to speak of.) but my sold black heidi does not have this issue. LMK what you think...

  6. Elaine, I'll let you know!

I have the Prince of Wales Heidi dress, and I don't have the weird shape issue that you are describing when I wear it, I'll let you know about the black one.

  7. Elaine: Re. the PoW Heidi, I think I know what you are talking about because I had the same thing happen with mine! I do love it though, and I think that part of the issue was a chose the larger of the two JC dress sizes I usually fit in (being FS, I didn't want something too small). If I adjust the back of the dress by pulling the front up, the fit is much better. I think it's one I may need to take to a tailor for a perfect fit, but I love the fabric and style!

Can I just say I love the Rainy Day Utility Jacket? :) It's been raining almost non-stop this last week and JC is not kidding when they say it is water-resistant...the jacket beads water and then it just runs off! Plus, it's incredibly warm. I sized down one size and just don't wear thick sweaters under it and the shoulders are fine - this works great as I'm often running around indoors and don't want a sweater on that often anymore.

  8. The Oleander Lace Dress is fantastic. Although I'm in-between sizes on it. A little short, but it may not seem so short in the winter. Such an amazing dress though. I will probably bite the bullet and order it online if I can get a 20% off somwhere.

  9. Elaine, I have the POW Heidi dress and it doesn't have that odd pouf. I am rather busty though, so there isn't any extra fabric available as I have taken up any slack.

I am really loving Madewell and can't wait to go back to the U.S. next month to visit both J.Crew and Madewell B&Ms. I received the pencil-stripe tunic dress and the shadows & light shirtdress from the recent 20% off and free shipping promo and I love them both. Really cute, comfortable, airy and lightweight. Now if only spring would arrive so I can wear them. :^)

  10. I LOVE the Tulip ruffle cami in dragonfly blue. I finally hit the bullet and bought it fp (my size is sold out on the website). I tried it yesterday night and it looks gorgeous with my denim pencil skirt and a navy blazer. I didn't want to take it off and since it will be months before I can actually wear it, I poured myself a glass of wine and had a lonely dinner in it (my husband is travelling).

  11. So I got my sequin obsession order. It turned out that sequin boy tee in natural cotton and drapey sequin tank in white ash are YELLOWISH (somebody else said on the blog after I already ordered).I was a bit upset since both items were final sale and both add up to about $100. I contacted J Crew and explained that the picture does not reflect the true color. In the end the associate waived for me the final sale policy. Yay!

  12. Pumpkin, good for you! I totally agree, both looked off-white in the web site images but the Boy Tee is definitely cream and the Drapey Tee is a deep ivory, almost butter.

But the worst image for color is still, IMO, the Khloe cami in blush stone. OK, the word "blush" is a clue that the cami has a peach tone, but the real color (as we all know) is very dark peach! It looks ivory in the image.
