Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

Preface: A big "thanks!" to Amy who suggested a weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post about current experiences with other non-J.Crew retailers. I think it is a brilliant idea and will try it out for a few weeks. Hopefully this will help out our fellow JCAs! :)

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  6. Does anyone know of any in-store promotions at Banana? There are a couple of things I have my eye on, but I'm wondering if they're cheaper in store.

  7. Lauren,

I don't know of any particular promos at the moment, but I seem to remember getting something in the mail recently for one this weekend. Can't remember specifics or whether it was for cardholders or for everyone though. FWIW, I nearly always find better deals in store at BR, especially on sale items. HTH! :)

  9. Banana had an in-store 30% off sale that ended on Sunday. No worries, though, I am sure another sale is just around the corner. I will post on my blog when I get the coupon.

  13. I just rounded up a bunch of Boden reviews of spring items (and a few on sale fall items) over at my blog for those of you that are curious about this off-beat British brand:

  14. Does have anyone have a code for Gap online? I'm interested in a couple of things. Thanks!

  15. BRJAN25 is good for 25% off at BR.com. FFM, clear your cookies and see if you get the better deal. :)

  16. For Ann Taylor:

30% off any full price item: code 10000000121

20% off any purchase of $50 or more: code 10000000110

  17. Cass: Too funny! I also saw the BRJAN25 first thing this morning, then cleared my cookies before going offline. When I checked back in again I had the lower percent off code. GAP did that a couple months ago to several of us, too. How lame...looks like J.Crew isn't the only one playing these kinds of games.

  18. OK, I just got cheeky and did a mock checkout at BR using the code BRJAN30 to see if there was a 30% off code floating around and it worked! So use that code instead of the other 2 if you are buying from BR. :)

  19. I'm eyeballing LEC's Heritage Cardigan. How does it fit compared to the Jackies? I take a M in JC's cardi's, should I "size down" and get a small for LEC? Any advice is appreciated. TIA!

  20. Hi Closet Crisis - I would size down for the Heritage Cardigan. I wear a S in the Jackies and the Heritage XS fits me about the same. Enjoy! I like the Heritage a lot and have a bunch of them. They're definitely better quality than the Jackies and LE has a great return policy.

  21. @Silver_lining: thanks so much for the info! I tried on a LE cardi and found the XS fit well, I'm guessing (from reading the product reviews) that the LEC cardi in Small would work. Add in the price point and pretty colours? Now, just have to wait for a coupon/free ship offer.

  22. Went to a BR flagship store (for men) today. They have a 25% sale on all items. Got a chance to try out one of their monogram suits (top of the line) which is only available in the flagship stores. It is a slim fit suit. Very, very stylish----one button suit. Fit is even slimmer than a Ludlow equivalent but the suit is more expensive C$ 550 for the jacket and C$ 240 for pants.

I did not get it as I don't think I have the 'cojones' to get a one-button jacket.
