Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER & FALL sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I might have to go in to order a coat from the red phone. I'm kicking myself for not getting the Colletta in Rainforest Green before it's gone from the website in my size.

If anyone sees a Colletta coat in size 2, rainforest green, please put it on hold for me June @ jcrewphd at gmail. TIA!!

  2. Huge number of popbacks, but don't get excited, almost all of the "older" ones are final sale.

  3. I may go to visit the stadium cloth boulevard trenches at my B&M to check for pilling.

  4. Does anyone have experience or wisdom regarding the cut or size or quality of this, I love it:

    Factory Item:
    Factory shearling peacoat
    $218.00 item 32708
    COLOR: fatigue

Hate that they don't show the items on models.

  5. Anyone have insight as to why the Merino Cielo Ruffle Cardigans are hanging around? Do they fit strangely? Item 25648

FYI, the 25% is working for factory items. I have resisted the sale this far, and am still going to wait. I really, really, don't like paying shipping. Also, I want to hear if anyone has feedback on that factory coat.

    Thanks!

  6. so some things are back now to final sale?

  7. My PS was nice enough to email me about the 25% in-store so I'll go and try to give her a sale :)

  8. I might go to try to find the linley chinos that I ordered online but are backordered until the end of the month. I will let you know if I see anything new in the sale section.

  9. Last year I really wanted the Kelsey in the ivory/black dotted pattern, but the fit was not good on me. Monday, I ordered the Annalise from the outlet in the same print in spite of not being thrilled with most of the outlet things I have seen or purchased and it is lovely. The silk is a nice quality and the shirt is well made. I am very pleased with my purchase.

I also ordered the black ribbon cami (the one with the beads) and it is pretty, but just so heavy that I will probably send it back, but I had no quality issues with either item.

  10. FYI Tampa Bay area JCA's: I was in the International Plaza B&M yesterday and they have a huge selection of super-old sale items, including a rack of Coralie Camis (which I was surprised to see, since they're only available now rarely on popback) for $30. I scored one in the orchid color :-)

  11. I forgot to share my review of the factory items I ordered by calling my closest outlet last week. First, I got the beaded ribbon silk top that I'd been wanting for some time. I ordered a sz. down b/c they didn't have my size. No go. Just a little too snug across the chest. It's really pretty but as someone else mentioned, it is a little top heavy b/c of the beading. And I also ordered one of the factory flannel button down shirts. Also a no go. Shapeless and tight across the bust again. So, both will be going back. I'm going to visit the outlet this weekend, so I'll report back afterward.

  12. jcrewphd, I don't know if you take the same skirt size as the coat size you mentioned but the nordic blue double-serge pencil is online in size 2.

silver_lining, love your new photo. That old one was a little bit freaky. Appropriate given J.Crew's Edie Beale reference, but kinda freaky nonetheless. ;^)

  13. I recently purchased two pairs of the matchstick vintage cords, one in charcoal, and the other in almond, love, love them!!! These definitley run big, I wear a size 6 tall (28) and tried on and ordered a size (27) 4 tall. Ordered this size because I really don't like the baggy look. These are soft and comfortable. I did use the 25% off, but wish it included free shipping, esp. for us tall girls who have to order online!!

  14. @xoxo: I think I got there a bit too late. It's gone but that's okay since I have the nightfall blue coming its way. I'll do a review once I get the nightfall blue.
The 2008 shade of blue you described sounds so pretty. Frankly I didn't like the blue perfect pencil skirt from last year. It was a bit too bright for me. ;-)

  15. Hi JCAs. Review of the gilded sweater-jacket in this post.

    ReplyDelete
  16. If anyone sees the Houndstooth bomber jacket in size 0 could you please let me know in what store you found it? TIA

    ReplyDelete
  17. jcrewphd, it's too bad you missed it. I still think it might pop back. I had to laugh, I think the bright blue skirt from last year is the same color as the one from 2008. Sure looked like it online anyway. Here I am blathering on about how pretty it is and you already decided you didn't like it. Now you don't have to feel that you missed out!

Will watch for your review of the nightfall blue.

  20. I take back everything good I said about J.Crew tights in a previous post. I wore the Solid Opaque Tights today and during the walk from my parking to the office the darn things were falling down so badly I thought the crotch would appear below my skirt before I made it to work. I was wearing S/M so it isn't that they are too large. Took off my Glenbrae boots to change into shoes and there was a huge hole in the heel of my brand new tights, worn less than an hour. I wear tights almost every day and have worn the Glenbraes a lot with tights plus my feet have a regular pedi, there was nothing that should have caused the hole. Maybe I got a defective pair but I doubt I'll ever buy another. Now I have to keep my boots on all day. :(

    ReplyDelete
  21. @xoxo: I'm sorry your JC tights got a hole already. I usually stock up on JC tights during super sale but I've found the recent ones are a bit thinner and I also worry about getting a hole when I'm out wearing them.
Haha, that's too funny about the skirt. I know the blue one sold out pretty fast last year, but I'm a bit chicken to wear bright colors. ;-) I love it on others but find it hard to actually walk out the door with them. I did buy the plum color skirt from Desert flower and hope to wear it with grays, navy, and cream? I need to check out polyvore...

    ReplyDelete
  22. @yay.email: Great choices. I'd say go for the one you'll get most wear out of. However, if the color and size of the Colletta is selling out fast I'd say grab it now. The Donegal schoolboy blazer is really cute though. You can easily dress up or down depending how you pair your bottoms. Also, it depends on what climate you live in. I bought the Carlin last year but never got to wear it. It doesn't get cold enough here in So Cal where we've been hitting over 90 degrees all week. (But the Rainforest green is calling my name.) Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  23. On jcrew tights- I just recommend getting the thicker tights the thin ones I have ripped through two pairs in two days! Sad!

  24. I placed a large order yesterday with my PS, so I will not be venturing into the b&m's this weekend. She was able to place my order with 25% off and FS, so I am very happy! Ordered:

    Jayne platform heels in Bottle
    Lace tee in cobblestone
    Sweet nettle perfect shirt
    Northern lights necklace in crystal

    Happy almost weekend, all!

    ReplyDelete
  25. This is totally random, but I thought the Aficionadas might appreciate it. I was just reviewing my credit card statement, and JCrew showed up under the following category:

    MISC/SPECIALTY RETAIL (FIREWRKS, TROPHIES, GRAVESTONES)

    Ha!

    ReplyDelete
  26. jcrewphd, I was supremely ticked off with the tights. You are right though, they do seem thinner this year. I sas so happy to get the faded rust color that complemented my silk indigo skirt beautifully. :P

I like to wear the plum pencil with a light purple (hyacinth?) Jackie twinset, lilac tights and these retro-looking purple Fluevogs. Several of the perfect shirts look nice with it too, Jaipur paisley, rose vines, contrast stitch, the one with the tiny purple flowers. The gingham shirts are pretty with it as well.

  27. Hi xoxo! Glad you like - Little Edie was starting to bum me out! ;)

So, I went to my B&M and they were still doing the 20% off outerwear, along with the 25% off $150, bringing the stadium cloth trench down to $195. I had a pretty substantial gift card as well, so I had to pull the trigger. Love that coat!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Whoa, 20% off outerwear is still happening? I really want the Double Cloth Dollop Coat...this might have convinced me to pull the trigger now. Thanks silver_lining!

  30. Hi everyone
I am a longtime lurked but this is my first post.
    This community is great!

    CharlotteSometimes :

I have the merino cielo ruffle in a couple of colours.
I find it is short in the torso and I am only 5'4".
Maybe that's why it's still around?
I love it though. I've worn it with everything from jeans to dresses. Even paid FP for the first one.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I am going to my B&M to pick up the boulevard trench with an extra discount. I will ask if they would just do the price adjustment on the one I bought 3 days ago with just the 25% off but if not I will buy and return. This is almost $50 difference, so worth the hassle to me. The coat is great, I cannot wait when it is cold enough to wear.

    ReplyDelete
  32. canuckdrmom, does it fit true to size otherwise? If it doesn't, my sister is getting a cardigan from me this Christmas! :)

OT: got my second package sent through Canada Post and it also took only 5 business days, just like the previous one. The duty was also cheaper by about $9 or so than getting the loot by UPS.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hey, if anyone sees the Jewel Fairy Crewcuts dress in a size 14 on the sale rack, could you let me know? It sold out on the website before I could buy it.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Just popped into JC this afternoon to make some returns. Ended up falling in love with the Blazecoat in the heather cloud. They applied the 20% discount, plus the 25% disount, which brought it down to $92. Plus I had some rewards $ left. Er, I paid $33 out of pocket. !!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I tried on a holiday dress with sequins today. Super cute! Waiting for a sale.

    ReplyDelete
  36. shoppingwithm: was the blazecoat on promo to begin with? $92 is a great price. I may bite...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Michelle -- All outerwear was 20% off of regular price. But then the PS also applied the 25% off of $150 promo to that!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I went to a B&M yesterday after learning about the promotion being in stores. I ended up buying the color-blend Montreaux cardigan in heather moss among other things. It just came down in price (from $89 to $69). I had already bought a number of JC sweaters this season, but I just couldn't resist this one. Such a simple sweater, but so interesting because of the zip that goes all around the neck. I love it! (BTW if you look for this one on line it's not in the sales section, look in the regular sweater section.)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Love your new look, silver lining! Agree, Edie was certainly au courant, but a little scary

So I managed to give my PS a sale indeed. The B&M has some really pretty thick stretchy crystal and pearl bracelets for like $40. I like these better than the clasp bracelets which slide around on my scrawny wrists too much. The tulle and stone tanks were $9.99, alhtough they run really big. My PS -who I LOVE- worked a miracle and found me a pearl-colored knotted pearl necklace after I had 2 online final sale screw-ups YAY!! and they had 1 cobblestone Cody left in my size and a few other little goodies. Store was VERY busy. Left happy.

Went to Loft where they are having spend $150 get $50 off and that combined with my Loft cares card made for great shopping. (There are lower price points for the promo, too - something like $15 off $75 and $20 off $125?) And the staff at this location is SO friendly! Out of the blue, the mgr offered to show me some new arrivals they just received that day. She said they wouldn't be on the floor for another 2 weeks, but since the promo was going on, why not buy them then? I didn't like anything she brought out, but it was awfully nice of her to offer. :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. oooh I hope the 20% off outerwear is still going on in stores tomorrow. I would love to pick up the stadium cloth Boulevard trench for $195, but the store near me is closed for the night. If anyone stops by a B&M in the morning, could you please let us know if outwear is still 20% off? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oooh Lizzy, thanks for the heads up! I just put in a HUGE order online this morning, but was thinking of cruising out to International Plaza tomorrow afternoon. What other goodies did you see?

    ReplyDelete
  42. I will be going tomorrow to return the black cashmere tee dresses that I received today. I ordered a small and medium, and the small was a lot bigger than I thought, so I didn't even bother trying on the medium. I am 5'5, 125, but a D-cup, and I would consider getting an XS (unheard of for me!). I was practically swimming in the wide 3/4 sleeves, and I would definitely have to cinch it in w. a belt... nothing like in the photo! I am disappointed, but at least I didn't pay for shipping - and I will get my money back, so I can spend it on something I truly like. :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hmph. I finally get home from work and went to slip into some comfy clothes for an evening in. My painter henley that I have worn and washed only twice has a huge hole in the armpit and it runs half way down the inside of the sleeve.

Checked on my J.Crew order that I placed at the beginning of the promo and it is still sitting in Released status, which seems to be J.Crew's new thing with every promo lately, the orders take forever to ship out.

Very frustrating after the J.Crew tights that lasted only 1 hour this morning and went straight to the trash. I now see why sometimes people go on a major rant against J.Crew. Shee-ite! I am thoroughly unimpressed!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. The B&M I visited Friday night still had the outerwear promo going on and applied the 25% off discount as well. I got the lodge puffer jacket in cobblestone and love it. I think it looks longer on the website because it hits me right at my hip and I normally wear a petite.

Other than that I got the dream henley in the pinkish color $52.49 and bi stretch wool minnie pant $58.50 (both after additional 25% off)

    ReplyDelete
  45. A couple of people have mentioned the rainforest green color for the Colletta. I ordered that color early on and found it to be much less vibrant than the color shown online (which looks like dark teal to me). IRL, it almost looks like a hunter green, imo. I ended up re-ordering in the nightfall blue color when it came out and am much happier. It has a little more green in it than it shows online...so closer to what I thought the rainforest green would look like. There is a jackie in the same color that you may have seen in stores (also online, but still looks more blue than it is).

    ReplyDelete
  46. I was in the stores today. the merino zip cardigans were on promo for $69.50. This was marked, but it rang up as $69.50 even though still marked $88.

Also, necklaces are still $10 off. And outwear was still 20 % off.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I went to the B&M at Eastview Mall in Victor, NY to make a return. I purchased a pair of glen plaid minnies for $29.99 (how could I resist) and the Wooly Ribbed Henley for $19.99 in a gray color I do not see on the website. The sale section was huge.

    ReplyDelete
  48. xoxo,

So sorry about your tights and henley. It was so nice to be able to count on JCrew quality over the years. I ordered such large quantities of items I think I was aware of the quality going downhill before many others. So sad:(

I rarely make it to a store but am going today b/c hubby needs new work clohtes. I will probably pop into JCrew but I am actually more excited about going to Talbots! I keep thinking what is wrong with me???? Oh yeah! JCrew's stuff keeps getting holes in it after one wash and wear! Thanks for the reminder that no matter what prices I see today to be careful with any JCrew purchase!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Can anyone vouch for the fit of the Colletta coat?

I am really loving a few colours but I have never owned a j crew coat and want to be sure on fit before I pull the trigger since it's a PITA to send things back and we still have no store to speak of.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I went to my local Crewlet and tried on several things, a few of them retail finds! You can see pics here.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I tried on the leggy denim today and was surprised at how much I liked them. I did have to size up in the denim. I'm hoping these get marked down (more than they already are online - still full price in my b&m). They will be perfect tucked into boots. The black were just a hair softer than the denim.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thanks, AppGal! I am shocked that something that is $39.99 on the website (bayberry flouncette blouse) is $79.99? at the crewlet (and the Arrow sweater similarly). Are crewlet and JCrew shoppers such a different base that crewlet shoppers wouldn't notice this? It just seems unfair and as if JCrew is trying to pull a fast one on unsuspecting customers.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I picked up the foxy art tee ($9.99) ... it looks super cute with the vintage wisteria pencil skirt. OKC-Penn Square had lots of t-shirts in the sale section. A lot of items are on promo.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Got the brown Britten Platform booties and loved them so much I ordered the black too since they are on promo. They are a good midheel and they slip on which is brilliant. I wear them with thick organic cotton socks and they are really good. Photos on UK Netaporter helped.

Also liked the Langford Platform heels and got them in all three colors over the past couple of months via promos. They are also really comfortable with thick cotton socks and really cute on. These are a really good winter shoe and look great with everything. All the colors are good, the beige is also on Netaporter, and the black has a slight grey to it. I could post this in the reviews but since the promo ends tonight I thought I would mention.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Went to the Millenia Orlando B&M today. Craziness! I bought the Merino Shirred Cardi in Charcoal for $16.99 and I love it! But there were ridiculous FS leftovers: $4.99 white denim matchstick jeans, $9.99 Chambrey skirts, and $9.99 off-white side zippered non-sweatpants! None of it fit well or I would have snatched them up.

    ReplyDelete
  56. OT but has anyone tried the Banana Republic Classic Trench? I have the JC Icon Trench but I really need a tall which JC annoyingly does not make in this style. The BR one is $100 less than the JC one but we all know JC's prices are inflated... so I am just wondering if it is comparable quality. I do not own anything from Banana Republic so I have no idea what kind of quality to expect.

  57. urban chaos --

My usual J Crew coat size worked for the Colletta. I wear a size 0 in coats, usually a size 2 in the shirts and tops, and XS/S in the knits and tees. Hope that helps!

    ReplyDelete
  58. We are in NY this weekend and went to the Prince St. store yesterday, which has a lot of Collection items. I must say that the dresses and coats were beautiful. But I can't imagine buying a $600 dress or a $1200 coat at J Crew when Prada and the like are in the same neighborhood. And the store was packed! Shoppers buying full-price. I guess if you're Mickey or Jenna and this is the kind of shopping hysteria you see in NY, you would probably think that J Crew's formula doesn't need any changing.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Em, I am not a trench person, but I have tried the BR Trench and thought it was beautiful. I have a lot of clothing from BR and have usually been very happy with them as a source of well made basics.

I purchased a steel grey leather jacket there yesterday with a great percentage off discount and it is too die for. Beautiful leather, great tailoring, perfect stitching... I am very impressed with most of what I buy there and everything usually holds up splendidly.

    HTHs!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Em - I purchased a black BR trench last year and have been completely pleased with it. It's held it's shape, hasn't had any tears, pilling, worn areas, etc. The quality, in my opinion, is worth more than its cost. Highly recommended. Hope that helps. :)

  61. Em, I have the BR trench in a tall.
I am 5'11'.... the quality and the fit are great.

  63. Went to my local mall and it was like Christmas! Insane amount of shoppers at the mall. However, JCrew was dead. Macy's was a complete madhouse as well as several other stores like BR had very long check out lines. Hubby and I both made out well but just a quick trip in and out of JCrew with nothing. It is really disappointing. I did not see any of the cute pencil skirts that others have posted trying on. Just lots of drab colors:( and a few picked over items in the sale section. Did not even see any SA's on the floor!

I did buy a leather coat and cute wool blazer and several other pieces at other stores like Talbots:) Hubby bought a suit and dress clothes for work elsewhere too. It was a fun trip with a Build a Bear stop off for my daughter on the way out:)

    ReplyDelete
  64. Em, I have BR trench coat as well and I love it. I tried on Icon trench and while I loved it in blck I like the camel/khaki BR better. I did not like the stitching on th e light color Icon for some reason. And you can probably get BR trench with at least 30% off. Imo it's a steal! I am also chiming in because I think I bought a dress from you on JCA exchange and I think we are the same size (in tops, at least). I have size M and it fits me very well.

    ReplyDelete
  65. OT: I was in Target last night and noticed that the Merona line has a reindeer tee and snowflake tee that are both pretty similar to the ones from J.Crew last year, but in different colors (if anyone is interested). :)

    Reindeer and Snowflake

  66. Wow, thanks ladies!!!!

Right now there is 25% off at BR... but I might wait and see if I can get a better deal. Or not. I am definitely going to go for the Tall medium and hope it fits. Thank you again, what would I do with my fellow JCAs? :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. Jumping in ... did a quickie mall visit this weekend and ran into JC to look at the Twisted Pearl necklaces in person -- I had all 3 of them in my cart online and then decided to go see if I liked them for sure. So glad I did! I love them; they're an everyday/basic-type necklace for me, as I wear a necklace to work pretty much every day. I had no clue about the $10 off necklaces, so I was stoked when they rang up at $32.50 each, and almost fainted when I realized that wasn't the 25% comiing off! Also finally broke down and got the navy dot flouncette blouse, still at $59.99, but the extra 25% off made it worth it. I think if I can keep it from getting stained or snagged, it will be a longtime keeper.

Also picked up the feather tee in a colorway I hadn't seen, ivory tee with dark orange feather. It might look nice with my Ryder jacket in the red/orange Tomato color. Love it alone too; really like the neckline on that tee!

Same deal with price, normally I'd have passed at $24.99 for a tee but the extra % off made it OK.

Finally, I grabbed these 2 darling little pins I also had not seen before -- just found them online, they're called 'feather flower pins' [32560] ... I'd add something like this to a basic top, like to the strap of a favorite or perfect tank in the summer, just for that little extra something. They were down to $4.99 in my store (before discount, woot) so I bought both colors. of course they're still FP online -- $22.50, gak! Cute but not THAT cute, eeeps. But they are very delicate, maybe that's when they're being dumped?

Last but not least, I was elated to unearth a sequined pencil skirt in the sale section for $29.99 as someone here had noted last week (it's still $118 online, wtf?) ... unfortunately it was at least one size too big for me, if not 2 sizes. I can sometimes get away with a 12, but this one bagged in the ass so incredibly badly that I knew I couldn't buy it. And I didn't see seams running up the sides to where it could be taken in easily. If anyone sees it in an 8 or a 10 at their B&M for $29.99 and it's not totally destroyed, can you let me know? [elaine dot hamill at gmail dot com] Hoping to wear it with a simple tee for my husband's xmas party next month. :)

I also picked up 2 new perfumes, and I love them both. Balenciaga Paris and Kate Spade Twirl. Both very different but both lovely! And it was double points at Nordstrom too, yay!

I'd been very good for a very long time, so I feel pretty good about my haul. :)

  72. The waxed utility jacket is now about $45, according to Ms. Mer in this post on her blog. Not sure if that's after the 25% or before.

  73. @xoxo: Thanks for the suggestions on the perfect plum skirt. I have some of those shirts so I'll definitely try them together. :-D

@Katie: Thanks for the feedback on the colors between rainforest green and nightfall blue. I want more teal color so if the rainforest green is a bit too hunter green I'm going to have to exchange it. It's so hard to tell the true color on the computer screen. I was a bit disappointed with the real life dark plum because it was definitely more brown than purple.
