"Looking to LOVE" with J.Crew

Preface: A big "thanks!" to Ibi who suggested weekly 'Looking to LOVE' and 'Looking to HATE' posts where we could all "deposit" our best & worst current experiences. I think it is a brilliant idea and will try it out for a few weeks. Hopefully this will help out our fellow JCAs! :)

This is the weekly "Looking to LOVE with J.Crew" post, a place to share our favorite experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a positive situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including stellar experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I had a good customer service transaction at Pentagon City earlier this week. My boyfriend wanted the Belstaff coat that was no longer online and not in that particular store. To get to the point the associate had the coat shipped from another store for free since the warehouse was backordered on this item. Made my boyfriend so happy because he didn't want to miss out on this coat.

  2. I've been loving the ballet flats lately! I purchased a few on sale and love the styles and fit!

  3. Love the community here above all! I was able get the Benny blazer on a charge-send from the factory store (cannot believe it's still FP online!) - the SA was pleasant and competent. The transaction probably took less than 5 minutes!

  4. I love my fall 2008 double-serge pencil skirt in bright blue. Wore it yesterday and received many compliments on the beautiful color. This is the third year I'm wearing it and it still looks brand new. I can always count on the wonderful pencil skirts from J.Crew, total love.

  5. 25% off $150+ order is now in stores! Through Saturday. I forwarded the email to Alexis to post.

  6. I second silver_lining! Thank you Alexis for keeping up the blog and all the JCA's who contribute here!

xoxo: is your bright blue pencil skirt lighter than this year's nordic blue? I waited too long for the nordic blue and now my size is gone. I did order the nightfall blue so we'll see how that works out with the tops I have.

  7. I am packing for a vacation and realize it was just about a year ago that I was doing the same thing and "found" J. Crew. This is quite a different trip than the last but again the easy, affordable separates to stretch out a wardrobe are why I continue to love JC. AND the best customer service ever.

  8. I've changed my will so I can be buried in this dress. I bought it in gold/beige, which is sold out at Madewell's website but still available on Shopbop. It's really the perfect dress for everything. Thank you, J. Crew/Madewell for making clothes that I love.

I love that dress! Can you comment about sizing? Same size as jcrew? Tts?

    Thanks I'm so curious!

  10. @jcrewlove,

The dress fits slightly small compared to J Crew sizing. I typically wear J Crew 0 and I got a 0 here as well. It fits but was a little bit tight across the shoulders and bust. I wouldn't size up here unless you're busty or have broad shoulders.

I absolutely love this dress -- it is gorgeous and possibly my favorite piece of clothing that I've bought all year.

    Hope this helps!

  11. Thank you so much carnivoregirl! Do you have measurements (if that is not too annoying?!)

    Thanks so so much!

Nope, sorry (blog surfing at work). But Madewell has a chat function too. Perhaps you can talk to CS about measurements.

Hope you love the dress as much as I do!

  13. How long is this dress? Is it 'above the knee' or mid-tigh? Where doe it hit you and how tall you are if you don't mind me asking?

  14. @ ajc

The dress hits above the knee by a couple of inches. Then again, I'm 5'2. Hope this helps!

  15. jcrewphd, the bright blue pencil skirt is a much more vibrant shade than the nordic blue. It would be kind of like the bright dahlia is bright compared to vintage wisteria, which is more subtle, if that makes any sense. It's definitely on the lighter side of tuquoisey-blue like the nordic blue, but bright like a jewel tone. Very pretty.

You never know, the nordic blue could pop back in your size if people reorder with the promo and return the FP one they bought last month. Did you check with the Find It service to see if there was one in stores? They will give you the promo discount and ship it for free.

I also ordered the nightfall blue pencil skirt on the FALLSALE promo. Put it into my wishlist cart right after silver_lining gave it a favorable review and was just waiting for a good promo. It looks lovely and versatile. Surely you will get yours before I do so I'd love to hear what you think of it.

  16. I feel like I grumble a lot about new JCrew here, so when I had this good experience I couldn't wait to share on the "love" post :)

The size I wanted in the cotton-wool ruffle dress wasn't available when I placed my 25% off order. The next day it popped back and the online PS was nice enough to send it to me for the price I paid with 25% and free shipping.

  17. I got the alpaca long cardigan in heather umber and I love love love it! Anyone considering it I totally recommend it! The color is spectacular.

  18. I like that they have more shoes with slightly lower heels.
I got the Noelle laced up booties. They are lined in leather and made in Italy. The mix of leather and suede is very chic. The heel is wearable height (3.5" but with .5 platform). They run TTS or slightly big. I wish they had more padding in the toe area but I may get some foot petals for them. My toes are not squished and they are quite comfy for thin high heels. Overall very please with them.

  19. Went to B&M on the last day of the 25% of $150+ purchase promo and wandered around the store when I bumped into my go-to sales associate. I mentioned an on-line only bag I loved and was going to ask if there was something comparable in store when she generously offered to order it over the red phone, 25% off with complimentary shipping as well. The promo + generosity of an incredible sales associate + my rewards card = $115 in savings. When J.Crew hires the best sales staff, they REALLY do it right.
