J.Crew News: What's Happening Today? {Friday edition}

As mentioned in an earlier post, I am on vacation! Unfortunately, I won't be able to keep up with all the latest J.Crew news, promos, and the like.

So this post is the "catch all" for J.Crew Aficionadas and Aficionados to share with one another the "current happenings" for today. Feel free to post your comments here- from current J.Crew promotions, sales, emails, and even questions on products (regarding fit & size), and the like. :)

What comments do you want to share or ask of other Aficionadas and Aficionados? What is currently happening (in terms of promos, sales, emails, products, and the like)?

  1. Check your account this morning! I've got free shipping and free gift boxes, no minimum, on top of the 25% sale.
Did the trick for me, I just bought the family pyjamas for Christmas, the last thing on my list.
    Have a great day, JCA's!

  2. I did not see free shipping on my account when I logged in and didn't see it applied during a mock checkout. I'm in the US. Not a cardholder. I'll be curious to see if this is another one of those random promos or is for cardholders, or...

  3. I didn't get it either! Congrats to those who did!

  4. in the US, silver cardholder since they invented it, nothing.

  5. Nothing for me, either. My dad wanted some vneck sweaters, and I would have ordered him some of JC's cotton cashmere vnecks, but instead I went to BR and got two sweaters with 40% off and free shipping.

  6. I have that vest and blouse (blue and brown versions) pictured in this post. I loved the vest so much I splurged and purchased the blazer version made with that same fabric. I missed out on the bag the model is holding. Now if only I had purchased the snow leopard simone jacket when I had the chance. Sigh.

    Have a great weekend, ladies!

  7. I still only have 'Free Gift Boxing', no free shipping. I'm not a cardholder & I have drastically reduced my purchases & my JCrew site analyzing time. The only money I spent recently was using gift cards from returns.

  8. I remember that Fall with all the vests. I wanted to try them but when I put them on, there was no place to put the girls. They had the good leather bags then too.

When the 25% began I thought I would be ordering many shoes. But even with 20%, they are kind of pricey. I did try the Noelle booties but they haven't arrived yet. The Winslow booties are cute but they aren't showing them with pants and I'm thinking that's because the flap in the front would not work with pants. I have the Langfords, Britton booties and the MacAlister booties. So a couple more and there's not much left I want this season. I ordered the Tweed Tatum jacket, we'll see if it ships. If they tell me they don't have it, I may cancel the whole order and rethink. I'm also waiting for the Thomas Mason Boy shirt to arrive so I can see if it is worth the price.

  9. I'm a silver card holder in US but have never received any perk from JC of any sorts besides a Mickey card two years ago. However, I was surprised to receive an email few days ago of free ship, monogram and gift wrapping in my account.

Elizabeth: do you go up half size for "hidden" platform heels? I have somewhat wide feet and go up half size for JC boots. My Langford heels are still wait listed and I also have interest on the Noelle booties but not sure of what size to order. TIA!

  10. jcrewphd, I do not size up for the hidden platform but I do size up for any shoe that covers the top of my foot because I have a high instep. For ballet flats, I stay my standard 8 1/2 but for the Langfords, boots, etc. I go up to a 9. I also like a medium weight cotton sock for booties like the Brittons and the 9 worked well. Can't say on the Noelles, they were supposed to arrive at the beginning of this week but with the weather and holiday, unbelievably they are still not here. I like the Langfords a lot, they feel really solid, the MacAlisters are very comfortable with the gum sole and the Brittons are the easiest to put on fast and perfect for airports because they slip on while standing up.

  11. I have the Noelle booties and they run rather big. I wear 8.5 in most of JC heels and sometimes 8 in flats and other brands. I ordered 8.5 in Noelles and they are borderline big. But I think the 8 might be too snug .
They are wide in the toe area and very pretty but I would not say comfortable, I am only able to wear them in the office on the carpeted area, even with foot ball cushions. I sacrifice because I LOVE they way they look but I was wearing them last week and went shopping after work and they were killing my feet.

  13. ajc, that's good to know. I can't afford the Chloe booties it appears the Noelle is duplicating so the $150. price (w/TURKEY) works for me. Hopefully they won't be too big.

I think I'm going to go ahead and order the grey Winslow booties. They are selling out in my size so they probably won't make it to sale.

  14. I'm digging those light grey Flannerys but there are none in my size--Arggh. (Maybe that's a good thing as I've already OD'd on Rugby.)

There was one beautiful teal/robin's egg plaid blazer in Collection, but it seems to be gone too.

  15. I got two e-mails from J. Crew a few days ago. The first one told me I had free monogramming and gift boxing and the second one delivered an hour later told me I just had free gift boxing. It made me chuckle because it was proof of J. Crew's horribly inconsistent promotions. The e-mail format was exactly the same, I had just gotten one fewer perk in the second one. I'm thankful for the gesture but I probably won't be taking advantage of it without free shipping. I know shipping items costs money but J. Crew overcharges for shipping (in my opinion) especially because it's done by item cost and not weight. When the clothes are already marked up, I just can't spring for the extra shipping dough; It really adds up over time. It doesn't even have to be free shipping, just reduced shipping costs.

  16. Nothing on my account . . . I don't feel like shopping today anyway; it's my contrary streak! Happy Black Friday to everyone else!

  17. Anne maybe the light grey Flannerys will popback. I tried the Flannerys in black and the looked like a witch shoe on me so I returned those but I'm liking all the light grey shoes this year, especially with white denim and a grey/heather nickel sweater.

  18. Elizabeth, I'm hoping maybe they'll appear on ebay or maybe someone will return them.

I've always liked light grey and winter white. There's just something light, bright and sparkling about it all when the weather gets cold. I blame it on an Hermes catalog I saw back in the early 90s: but I don't think it's been until the last few years that we've started seeing as much light colors for the winter. (Not least, I match my silver Persians;-)

  19. Just wanted to ask if anyone out here has ever tried Jack Wills? I just found out that they're having a 20% off and I've been lusting after some of their coats and jackets (especially heritage) but since I've never actually tried their things am afraid to order. (For the most part, I like to avoid the hassle of returning.) Is it better or worse than J crew?

  21. I got a 20% off code in my catalogue, no minimum. If you have free ship on your account, this is a great deal especially if you want to buy something that won't meet the $150 minimum. I won't be using the code. I'll give it to the first person who responds.

  22. It will be interesting to see if J Crew gets any more bids. I personally thought $43.50 was rather low per share--even if the quarterly report showed rather mediocre results. They were up around $51 last spring.

Is anyone holding on to her (or his) shares here in hopes of a better offer?

  23. The 20% off code has been claimed.

  25. I have the bracelet the model is wearing!
It was one of the earliest offerings in jewelry, and I thought it added a tough vibe to the sweet/prep.
I still have it, but it is very heavy and slips around quite a bit.
I haven't ever seen it anywhere else!
