"Thanks!" to many of you, including GigiOfCa (in this post), Christy (in this post), as well as Marietta & Irina, who shared the latest promotion from J.Crew.

J.Crew is offering 30% off any purchase from their Holiday Sale {no minimum} and free shipping (over $150 *after* discounts applied) with promo code JCREW. This promotion expires this Thursday, November 18, 2010. The following is the fine print of this offer:
*Offer valid in J.Crew retail stores and at jcrew.com only. Offer is not valid at J.Crew Factory stores or on J.Crew Factory items. Offer does not apply to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards. 30% off discount applies to sale items only. Offer valid through Thursday, November 18, 2010, 11:59pm ET. Free shipping offer applies to orders shipped via ground shipping totaling $150+ after 30% discount on sale items and before shipping, handling and taxes are added. Savings are applied at checkout with code JCREW. Offer not valid on phone orders. Cannot be combined with any other promotion. Limit one promotional code per order.
Yey for this offer! Seriously, I love this promotion. Not only is it a great discount, but it includes a free shipping offer *and* it's also available in brick & mortar (B&M) stores. Loves it! :)

Will you take advantage of this latest promotion? If so, what items did you pick up?

  1. OMG, I have literally been up ALL night (I am an insomniac anyway and don't work today, and not usually this bad!) shopping this sale. With this promo I had my cart LOADED and was narrowing it down around 6:15 am. Guess what? All night the knits had still been listed at 20% off, and then POOF, they all went back to full price. I was so peeved, I chatted live with an agent knowing there was little that could be done, and she said the knits sale had been listed but should not have been. NICE.

  2. sub...now I need to look and see if they added anything...

    ReplyDelete
  3. And guess what, the Exhibitor tote that was listed in the sale section for $250 is now back to full price at $325, no 30% off. Thanks J. Crew, I can do without it!

  4. I just got on Friday the Ultra-Knit zip hoodie in the olive color (not online). It is AMAZING!! 5'3", 110 lbs, and I got a small for a perfect fit. It's incredible soft, heavier than most zip ups I own and has the softest inside. Also, as explained on the website "The silhouette is gently elongated with a slim body, so it looks amazing with everything", which I agree with. It's the perfect length and for only $39.99 (plus 30% off now) it's beyond worth it.

  5. clarification:
the olive color isn't available online. They still have gray and cream though, which are equally as great.

  6. I noticed this offer around 10pm PST when the knits were still 20% off... so I majorly scored ($45) on the Drapey Sequin tee. Ordered it in Blush Pink and Shadow (they were already sold out of the Dark Pewter in XS!) to try on and decide which color to keep.

I also snagged a bronzed twig Cecelia cami for $25, and took a leap of faith on some work pants: the dark charcoal Martie herringbone trouser in super 120s (#28894) and the black Stretch wool cropped trouser (#21890). They both came to under $70 after the promo, which is what I consider a good deal on a pair of classic trousers.

Does anyone own the Martie super 120s or Stretch wool cropped trousers? I normally buy my work trousers from BR (they always have some kind of %off promo to tempt me), but I really liked the look of these JC ones. I ordered my normal JC skirt size, but who knows if sizing will be consistent.

If anyone can comment on the fit/quality of these two pants, it would be much appreciated!

  7. Those of you who have tried outerwear, can I rely on the same size as I do for camis? I am usually a 4.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I was hoping for this promo today and ended up ordering another Arrow sweater...I ordered the black, but already have the charcoal and caramel. I have been wearing these so often and they are just perfect for a freezing cold New England winter...I couldn't resist.

    ReplyDelete
  9. This is strange because the code worked on Factory outerwear for me. I just googled jcrew factory and it directed me towards the site.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Can anyone comment on the Swish tank, fit and look?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Charlotte- I usually take the same outerwear size as perfect shirts but size down in camis. I'm usually a 4p in coats and wear 2s in perfect shirts and 2s or 0s in camis. Hth!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Ashley, wow, thanks! I am a 4 in perfect shirts (at least the one silk/cotton blend I own), and usually a 4 in camis, but maybe I have been doing camis all wrong and too big?! I think I have tried some camis in a 2, but if they are silk and don't give at all I look like a freak trying to get them over my head. Thanks for the input, I am thinking a 4 in outerwear.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Charlotte- glad to help! One more thing to consider is layering, I know some ladies size up in coats to be able to fit sweaters especially if the coat tends to have tight sleeves! I hope it works out! :)

    ReplyDelete
  14. I think it depends on the coat and if you want to layer. I take a 4 in tops but a 6 in coats. Hope it works out for you! At least its not FS!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I really want to get the shawl collar cashmere zip sweater, but all they have is black....so I'll wait for a pop-back. Hopefully they will restock with this sale, otherwise I might have to pass.

  16. I would be excited, but Land's End Canvas stole JC's thunder: they're offering 30% off everything and free shipping on orders over $50. The code is LESHARE30, pin 7785. Expires today.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Thanks! This is the coat I am dying for, but it's factory, and I don't want to pay to send it back if it doesn't fit (how cheap is that?).

I ordered a version of it from American Eagle (in green) yesterday with their promo, but I am not sure which is cuter, I have been looking/thinking so long, any opinions? It was half the price.

  18. I ordered the Arrow sweater and Alpaca tirette (30712), but will have to decide on only one based on which I like better. Both were still more than I like to pay for JCrew disposable clothing. I am wondering if the tirette sweater will go even cheaper eventually.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I noticed the discount shortly after midnight EST and was able to double dip on the 20% off tees and extra 30%...ordered some tissue tees and the always pocket cardigan which I love!

Certain items like the stadium cloth sasha peacoat are hidden from the sale section, so you have to search by keyword or product #.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I went a little crazy at the Lands Ends Canvas sale. I placed a [somewhat] small order and then realized I should order more and placed another order.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Last post, I promise. On the Tirette, I got a small. Can anyone comment on its sizing? I am usually a small in sweaters, but vary between xs/sm depending on style.

In the Arrow, I got an XS, thought it ran big (then again, the one I tried on was in store, could have just been majorly stretched). I am worried the Tirette will stretch out big time because it's such a large knit.

Over the night I ordered the Dream tipped chale cardigan (31990), also in a small, worried about that size because it's also a large knit. Imagine if their sizes were just consistent! Dreams...

  22. I'm still contemplating, but will more than likely order another Arrow Sweater Jacket.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Is the heather grey color of the Arrow Sweater jacket new? I don't remember ever seeing it before today!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Charlotte,

I am 5'4" and around 125, and a little bottom heavy. I would say that I buy size 4 in jackets, camis, shirts and coats about ninety percent of the time. Most of my 4s fit a little loosely overall, but if I size down to the 2s that would fit me better through the bust, back and shoulders, the sleeves are always too short, the armholes too high, and the overall garment length is too short. Sometimes I try sizing down in the store to see how the smaller garment looks, but most of the time there is just something skimpy looking about the 2s on me.

I would stick with the same size in outerwear that you usually buy in tops.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anyone have the Stadium-cloth peacoat from this year? It's come back in my size + the color I wanted...should I go for it or will it fall apart?

    ReplyDelete
  26. @Charlotte: I'm a size 4 on dresses and most jackets/coats but I normally take a size 2 on silk camis from JC especially if you're not busty. Maybe you can ask the online chat CS for measurements? Btw, I took a small for the Arrow since it is merino wool and it doesn't stretch out as much as other wool blends. HTH!

@Appgal: The gray Arrow has been around. I have black and elm colors already so no more multiples for me. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  27. kitsmommy, thanks!

jcrewpd, sounds like I ordered backwards, I ordered the larger knit sweaters in a small, and the merino tighter knit in an XS. ugh! i could reorder sizes, but would have massive returns for the JC employees to scowl about.

    ReplyDelete
  28. @CharlotteSometimes: I noticed that, too! There was a 3 hour period between 9pm and 12am PST that the knits were still 20% off and the jcrew code was working, so you could effectively have purchased those items for only 56%! Too bad I didn't notice anything I wanted that was a knit...

    ReplyDelete
  29. I snagged some items for my upcoming holiday and for my son & DH.
I wish that I had not gone to bed early, as I have been wanting to get the sequin cami on sale.
Can anyone comment on the sperry top siders, are they tts?
Fingers crossed that it all actually arrives :-)

    ReplyDelete
  30. There isn't even anything I want. Sigh.

  31. I am going to pass and hope for a better sale closer to Christmas; I know if JCrew is offering this up now it will come again in Dec. adn hopefully deeper discounts (I am learning to wait). I am all shopped out-I bought gifts at the Land's End Canvas sale and a whole bunch of household items at Kohl's online with an additional 30% off and free ship this weekend. Still waiting on a Talbots item to come this week as well.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Ali - I bought the Stadium Cloth Peacoat last week and LOVE it. I think the quality is just as good as the stadium cloth Shipley from last year. I love the fitted look of the peacoat and have already received many compliments.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hi Ali:

I have the stadium-cloth peacoat in dark fatigue. Absolutely love it! Probably the best coat I've had in a while. Very pretty. Clean lines. The epitome of preppy elegance. I would suggest to get a bigger size if you are in between. I'm sometimes 4 and sometimes 6 in JC coats. Tired the 4 was a bit tight. 6 fits beautifully1!

    ReplyDelete
  34. The double serge pencil skirt in vintage wisteria is suddenly full price after being on sale for like 2 months. J.Crew is so lame when they do things like that.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Nothing too exciting for me. I would buy the dream zip henley but it's gone. Anyone know whether B&M is final sale?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Just want to say for anyone interested....as others have pointed out the Arrow is definitely a great deal. I also think the Sofie Cardigan is a great deal..$29.99 with the discount. I paired my black Sofie with the Olive Sequin Drapey Tee this weekend and received loads of compliments. I ordered the Sofie in the Charcoal Heather this am.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Went to the J Crew outlet this weekend. They were having discounts on everything. Some things were definately "factory" quality, like the sequin shawl cardigan that's on the factory website...I have the one from last year, it's much thicker. But some things looked the same, at least toe me, like the minnies...they were on sale for $40 and they felt and looked the same as the "real" ones. I got my sister a cashmere cardigan for christmas...originally $128, with I think 30% off, then i got my faculty discount. The cashmere cardigan feels really nice. I tried it on in ivory and thought it was slightly sheer, though, so maybe it's not as good quality as the J crew store. Hard to tell, as most ivory or white things are somewhat sheer.

    ReplyDelete
  38. AAAAAAAAHHHH I am such a sale whore! I finally grabbed the Renatta paisley bikini, which I've been eyeing for some time. The colors are just so gorgeous, I couldn't stop looking at it.

Also picked up the sequin stripe henley tank, which I've missed out on several times now; the moss blossom Calista cami (Rosewood sold out, darn!); the vintage cotton traversa stripe tank in the camel color (I've found I wear my camel vintage bateau tee more than my other ones); and 2 outlet bib henley tees I've been eyeing for a while.

While I was at it, I got the violet madras bikini top because it popped back in my size -- I need the bottoms to go with it, though, in a L or 10/12 -- so if you bought them and can't use them, let me know! :)

I'm so ashamed. They treat me so badly and I just keep going back. ...

    ReplyDelete
  39. Emily,

I have found the ivory cashmere from Land's End to not be sheer at all--I own a pull over and a cardigan from them from 2007 and 2009-- but like you said most cashmere in ivory or off white is....just wanted to let you know.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Nothing for me. Your total has to be $150 or more AFTER the 30% is taken off to get free shipping which is silly--not enough that I even like in the sale section....if it was free ship no minimum or a lower minimum I would bite.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yes, the 30% off in-stores is FINAL SALE. You're better off buying online.

I was told that there will be an extended holiday return period for (non-final sale) items bought in store starting with purchases made on 11/17.

I went in to return my self-destructing remini cardi. Wore it 2x and it was all pilly; on the 3rd wear it developed a hole. I was about to throw it in the garbage but figured I should at least try to get a store credit--they did give me a store credit even though it was past the 30 day period (I kept my receipt).

I picked up a drapey sequin tee and tank in-store since they are all sold out in larger sizes online. Not sure what I am keeping--have to try on with different outfits at home first.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Does anyone know what the Ombre Horizon coat is like? There's a factory version and I'd like to get it since the version last year was way too expensive for my budget. Has anyone seen the factory version and can comment on the quality? Is it similar to the original version?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh, and thanks JC, 30% off plus free ship is finally the way to do a promo. :)

I picked up a few things that have already been marked down a few times, like the calista cami; other items that are only on first mark down I will wait for better discount closer to xmas.

OT, I'm not really a big LOFT fan b/c I can't stand all the polyester, but they are having an extra 30% off sale right now, which you don't need a code for, and then there is F&F starting today for AT/Loft cardholders and tomorrow for everyone, with code FRIENDS. You can stack the 30% F&F and the extra 30% off sale for some really good deals. I might pick up some (non-polyester) cargo pants and whatnot. :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Genny, thanks for the review of Lands End cashmere....it's funny you mention that because I was eyeing the ivory cashmere cardigan at the Lands End canvas website last week.

On a side note, Talbots has holiday arrivals that are super cute. I ordered some gold sequin peep toe pumps...yes, you read that right. They are amazing! The catalog is so much better than their website though..not sure why. I'm debating a black taffeta skirt, very 1950s, and some polka dot tights.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Em - They put the vintage wisteria skirt back to fp sometime last week. It wasn't last nite just before the promo. But still...I hear you. It's so bizarre and makes me not trust them.

Cass - I am curious to see if they will remove the extra 30 as of tomorrow. Many of their promos end on Sunday or Monday. If anyone needs a Loft coupon, the fabulous color mixing Debye has provided a link here.

  46. great sale, although the sale section for men was quite thin. Scored a pair of Bass weejuns for almost 65% off regular price. It was the last pair, so the odds of me actually getting them may not be on my side.

    We shall see...

    ReplyDelete
  47. Emily,

So funny you mentioned Talbots. I just got their holiday catalog in the mail a few mintues ago and LOVED looking through all the holiday items. My hubby wants a Christmas and I already picked out 3 things I want:)

I also got my JCrew holiday catalog so thrilled to get it as well.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Cass,

Good to hear you at least got store credit for your return. JCrew's quality is just so poor right now. Not wanting to buy from them right esp. with the short return policy window--even with the sale going on now...I need to wait for bigger markdowns on the one item I want.....just to even try it.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Finally! Snagged my sequin tee in moss for $41.99 and one of my bf's xmas presents: sherpa hoodie also for $41.99. Now my Jcrew card will have a bit of a rest and will not resurface again until the spring!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Oh bugger . . just placed an order when I swore I wouldn't!

I ended up finding purchasing some items on sale to put away for spring. White denim jacket, silk safari blazer (a little worried the color will wash me out, but at least I can return) and another pair of broken-in boyfriend chino shorts. I live in a warm climate and didn't need anymore sweaters, so the two light weight jackets and shorts will be perfect in a few months!

Added on the mixed tape cardigan in navy at full price . . shame on me for not getting it on sale. Oh well. Also threw in the L'Occitane hand cream to get my total to a nice $150.13 before shipping. That's right J.Crew . . you only got $0.13 extra cents out of me! :) I can give it as a Xmas gift to someone I'm sure.

After ordering the cropped plaid tuxedo trousers last week, in addition to a factory store stop . . I am DONE for 2010. Card needs a rest!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. CCS, are you able to provide a review of the cropped plaid tuxedo pants? Did they fit TTS? Are they good quality and flattering?

    TIA

    ReplyDelete
  52. I purchased the Jericho tote - finally. I got it down to around $125.00 with the 30% off promo plus a $25.00 gift card they sent me. Not bad! It's funny the camel color is the only color on sale - but it's was my favorite anyway. A good year round color I think. The perfect work tote I hope! $125.00 seems like a good price for a beautiful leather tote, no?

    ReplyDelete
  53. xoxo . .I'm still waiting to receive the cropped plaid tuxedo pants. I'll probably get them towards the end of the week . .takes forever to the west coast!

But I will definitely post a review when I do get them! I'm anxious to see them too! I hope they live up to expectations.

    ReplyDelete
  54. CCS, I look forward to your review. Those pants look so cute.

I am in the same boat waiting for deliveries, they usually take 10-14 days to get to me here in Canada.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I also used the promo on Factory items. I checked the fine print of the offer and it does explicitly say "Offer is not valid at J.Crew Factory stores or on J.Crew Factory items." However the code totally works and I got a few basics and some holiday shopping done. You can still link to the Factory site by going to jcrew.com/factory.

    ReplyDelete
  56. gigi, thanks for pointing that out. Still super lame of them! I mean, I bought it like 2 months ago on sale. I returned it but was considering reordering with the 30% off... little did I know it was no longer on sale!

    ReplyDelete
  57. xoxo and other Canucks: I am on the West coast and my last 3 shipments were by Canada Post: 2 were here in 5 business days and the 3rd one was 6. Also duty was cheaper than by UPS.

    ReplyDelete
  58. CCS & XOXO:

I purchased the flannel cropped pants last week. The pants fit just like the Cafe Capri's(city fit), I would say true to size. They are well made. I am lovin them:)
Oh, the colors are great too.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I wasn't able to check out the sale until late this morning, so I missed out on a few items I had been wanting. But I did go ahead and order some basics with the extra 30%: a black infinity cardigan, some more minnies, and a perfect tee. I threw in the tissue tonal ruffle tank and the tiered cardigan for free shipping--I'll return them if I'm not in love when they arrive.

    ReplyDelete
  60. You all should consider trying the toothpick stretch cords with the zipper at the bottom. They are super cute on and are TTS, I didn't have to size up from the fit of the bootcut cords. But I think right now only the black are on sale, and I can't wear black with the cats I own. Last sale I bought the dusty cedar, gorgeous color.
