J.Crew's Jenna Lyons Makes It On Bobbi Brown's "Beauty Rules"

A big "thanks!" to Slastena (who runs the amazing "About All and Nothing at All" blog) who let us know about an interview with Jenna Lyon's in Bobbi Brown's new book "Beauty Rules".

Interview: Jenna Lyons
Top Stylist Tells All

Jenna Lyons is one of the most amazing people working in fashion today. As creative director of J.Crew, she's in charge of everything from what clothes are sold to how the stores look to the models you see in the catalogs. That's a huge job, and she does it well. But the coolest thing about Jenna is her style: she's super-eclectic. She can take the basics or something that might have come out of grandma's closet and make it look new again. She's further proof that classic doesn't have to be boring.
Moreover, in Slastena's "Discover Bobbi Brown's New Book "Beauty Rules" ......" post, she tells (& shows!) us that J.Crew's influence can be found everywhere: from the clothes, jewelry, to models!

I have to say, I love the styling found inside the book! It's the kind of layering that I would definitely wear.

What are your thoughts on Bobbi Brown's "Beauty Rules"? Do you like the interview with Jenna Lyons?

  1. What is Jenna's genetic disorder, does anyone know? How difficult to have scars all over your legs as a teen or at any age.

  2. Jenna's makeup looks great, but that shirt is a bit mannish (is that a word?).

  3. jcrew1985 - It's incontinentia pigmenti, according to an interview shared this post.

A kilt and a graphic tee in the 80s. Sounds exactly like the things that are being sold right now. Interesting.

  4. She's wearing the Selvedge Chambray shirt, I think. I just got it a month ago and wear it all the time -- it's my new go-to shirt tucked into pencil skirts, worn open over a T and belted over skirts or pants, under v-necks...very versatile.

I can't help liking Jenna. Someone mentioned in another post about how she walks the walk with JC clothing -- she wears the brand all the time and I respect that. I also like how honest and humble she sounds most of the time.

  5. Thanks for the link Gigi. I love the pink with red trim cardi Jenna is wearing in the photo (scroll to the bottom).

  6. I'm sick of Jenna (She is danger of becoming the Speidi of the retail world.), but this is the kind of press she should be doing. I actually like the Jenna they are presenting here.

  7. I think she is the balm of the industry; smart, talented, stylish as opposed to trendy, and NICE. A life boat in a sea of narcissists. The fashion industry always felt smarmy to me but with people like Jenna around and nice bloggers (thanks Alexis!) it is more interesting and hospitable.
