J.Crew Factory Takes The Weekend Off {right...}

"Thanks!" to many of you, who shared the latest news from J.Crew about J.Crew Factory (click here to view online).

In yesterday's "J.Crew Email: EXTRA 30% OFF final sale (plus, FREE..." post, many JCAs wondered where the tab to shop the Factory Store online went. This morning J.Crew has provided an answer on their home page:
Looking for Factory Online?

We took the weekend off, but here's something to tide you over: take 30% off our final sale at jcrew.com* (Factory online will reopen next weekend.)

As some of you have suggested, I believe J.Crew purposely omitted the Factory Store online tab because they did not want the "30% off sale" promotion to apply to Factory items. That's too bad.

Did you notice the Factory Store link was not available this Friday? What are your thoughts on this move by J.Crew?

  1. How do they expect us to shop from a website that only opens 2 days a week and sometimes not on a whim?

  2. What I don't understand is that once you go to the factory page via the link that you all very nicely provided, it says "for the first time only, 30% off" or something like that. WTF?

  3. What a cop out! The factory just opened and they already need a break?!

  5. I was able to get to it this morning via a link I posted on my blog when they introduced the factory online.

  6. Thanks Preppy Sue! I was able to get to it as well: J.Crew Factory Store

  7. I was hoping to not draw attention to this (that we could get to factory and apply the promo), figured it was a limited perk /JCA tip and if we had a full post big brother will fix it...I actually posted on my blog though about an order I placed right away yesterday mostly factory with the musthave code. Wouldn't have ordered otherwise and didn't think it was unintended as the main page of factory has the "for the first time only- 30% with code musthave" . The jcrew.com page didn't have anything about "taking the weekend off" at that point. Maybe they're testing how many JCAs or random traffic they get without having the tab! I'll prob retitle my post and "my2cents" would be if we want to keep the ability to use this to delete this one soon b4 they come back from their "weekend off"?

  8. That's weird because I ordered factory items with the MUSTHAVE promo! I had the items already in my bag and I had the page saved in my browser and was able to add in more. That's too bad others weren't able to do this because I got a great deal.

  9. Hahaha sometimes J.Crew's games crack me up, especially when we beat them at it ;) I ordered yesterday with the extra 3o, all factory items.
I'm sorry but JC has the densest IT team eveh LOL

  10. I wish factory would take the century off! I don't see a reason to offer a crummy version of the regular designs with only a $10 price reduction or so. . .

They used to have remainder regular merchandise at the outlet stores, but now it's all this second tier stuff.
I used to look forward to a trip to the outlet, but after the last two times, I'll never fall for that again.

  11. Although I think a certain amount of skepticism is in order with Factory items given that their FP is not that much cheaper than the originals, I've been quite happy with my two purchases (fringed scarf and printed Kelsey cami). No quality objections at all.

Before ordering online, it's worth calling up a Factory store to compare prices, though, even with the 30% off. The Kelsey was much cheaper at the store and the SA was incredibly gracious about doing a charge-send--including a nice little handwritten thank you note--all for a $13.99 purchase.

  12. Lazy asses. You've been open for 4 weeks now? That's like working 6 days and calling it quits because you need to take a "personal day". Jcrew Factory workers have the same work ethic as the Factory Worker that sew their clothes. None. Hmph.

  13. 'FACTORY WORKER work ethic"?

While I agree the FACTORY online site on again, off again debacle is laughable, I think it might be going a bit far to allude that factory workers who sew the clothes are 'lazy asses'too. Not sure if that's what an earlier post means (if not, sorry for misunderstanding ).

Lets all remember it is JC that sources the inferior materials that the cheapest labor has to work with — so we in the USA can buy cheap! If all their stuff was made here none of us would be shopping JC or Factory b/c no one would be able to afford it!

    Just my 2¢

  14. Totally misinterpreted. Factory, meaning the poor quality jcrew churns out. Perhaps it's the quality of the fabrics and not that of the workers.....the workers should be commended for their ability to do this day in and day out of course, they truly aren't the lazy asses. I mean the lazy asses who run the jcrew factory division who, ahem, needed another 15 minute break.

  15. I placed a sale order today with a few factory items mixed in and was able to apply the MUSTHAVE 30% off promo to the entire order.

  16. I know you already clarified but I just wanted to say that the factory workers in China are not lazy! They are some of the hardest working people I have ever seen, they do mind-numbing work, work more hours than the average American, in less than optimal working conditions, AND they work for pennies. If people want better quality from China then these companies need to start paying them more!! (and really not everything made in China is crappy quality, there is a wide range of quality).

  17. oh, and back on topic, what I think of them removing it for the weekend is TYPICAL J. CREW! haha.

  18. I placed a factory order on Saturday morning using the MUSTHAVE code. Since the site was still up even though they said factory was closed it got me thinking, maybe they leave it open all the time. Turns out they do. You can access factory using a link anytime... even during the week!

  19. This is an odd update by JCrew because you can totally get to the Factory pages and order things from it with the 30% off. I know I did on Friday! Bizarre.

  20. So, thanks to the links that were posted here, I snuck into the factory store and ordered quite a few things for my husband...and a few things for myself, just to round out the order!
I feel like I'm going to be blacklisted by JCrew now....but it's their own fault. The 30% off the factory items made them reasonable enough to order. I saved $88 plus shipping - not bad!
