JCrew Email: 20% OFF women's apparel. 3 days & online only.

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Rose (in this post), Marietta & Ketan, who shared the latest promotion from J.Crew.

*Offer valid on purchases made online at jcrew.com only through Wednesday, October 13, 2010, 11:59pm ET. Enter code SHOPFALL at checkout. Offer valid on full-price women's apparel purchases of $150 or more before shipping, handling and taxes are added. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases, alterations or the purchase of gift cards. Offer does not apply toward The Laundress New York® for J.Crew, Mackintosh®, MiH Jeans®, Saint James®, Barbour®, Thomas Mason®, Belstaff®, Baracuta® or Lemlem®. Offer not valid in J.Crew retail or Factory stores or on Factory merchandise. Offer not valid on phone orders. This offer cannot be combined with any other offer or promotion.
Love to see that there is an additional percent off for full-priced items. :)

UPDATE: Sorry, I made a mistake. I was in a rush to post this morning and thought there was free shipping. However, as many of you pointed out, there is no free shipping.

I should also add, that today is the last day to use your Mickey/ Red/ White/ 25% off card from J.Crew. I was thrilled to see this promotional discount card come back and I hope to see it again. Bravo J.Crew!

Will you take advantage of this latest promotion? If so, what items did you pick up?

  1. No free shipping is the deal-breaker for me. :(

  2. Although I am interested in seeing the Chevron cami IRL, I won't be taking advantage of this offer for two reasons: a) shipping charges usually eat up any of the savings, and b) there will probably be new markdowns on Wednesday - although, items might be going right to FS. Or will they? Will Fall Sale come back? Will JC change this promo in the next day or two to include free shipping? Aren't we due for another rollout on Thursday? There has just been too much angst associated with shopping at JC lately.

  4. I am really interested in the chevron cami too, Silver Lining, and my store didn't have it. I'm waiting it out as well. I will pick it up when it goes on sale which is likely to be fairly soon.

  5. I tried the code and it didn't work for shoes. Ah well, there are better priced shoes elsewhere.

  6. No purchase without free shipping for me, either. According to my online PS there will be new arrivals online this Thursday, which would also be why this promo ends on Wednesday.

  7. No purchases unless there is free shipping. It doesn't cost $17.50 to ship 3 lbs!

  9. the discount works but the free shipping isn't going through online or when you call to phone in an order - and the sales reps don't know why either!

  10. This code is for 20% off women's apparel orders of $150+. The legalese doesn't mention free shipping. That's what I've been reading since it posted last nite.

ITA w/silver_lining. Too much angst shopping here right now. They still have at least 24 hour on a time out with me anyway.

  11. I only see 20% off $150+. Who got the idea there was free shipping as Alexis posted???? I don't think the post is correct.

  12. I just bought the Wool Bell Skirt and it is the best thing I've ever purchased from JCrew ever! I recommend it to everyone - and buy a size up, so it's nice and roomy. It comes in a variety of colors, except camel - which I emailed JCrew about. Rave, rave review! Thanks for sharing this coupon!

  13. Not buying without free shipping; shipping costs would virtually offset discount. And, doesn't work on shoes. Will stick with Talbots (20% on everything and free shipping).

  14. Wow, awesome! I will probably take advantage of this.

Can someone comment on the fit of this year's Cashmere V-neck cardigan? Fitted? TTS? Crazy long?

  15. I'm really glad they are offering this, but I bought what I needed during the Red Card promo and there isn't anything else that I love love love.

  16. Nothing for me especially without free shipping. It really is getting tiring, JC, when will you learn?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Pretty lame considering so many people in the B&M have had 25% off for weeks, sometimes on top of 30% off and no shipping charges.

  18. Paige,

I know I placed two orders with Talbots this week and I got the free pima tank in one of those orders as well. I cannot wait to try it! Excited to get my orders from them.

  19. This is some crappy consolation prize, j.crew, especially after last week's promo. Yawn...sitting this one out, again. I'll be hard pressed to let you pry the money I made outta my hands!

  20. can someone tell me if a 26 fits closer to a 2 or a o? the hhf jeans on the sale post are enticing, but i'm not sure about the size. i have some size 4 jeans & 28s that are much too big.
    thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think it depends on the cut. I can do 26 in vintage slim fit, 27 in toothpick, and wear a 2 in cords.

    ReplyDelete
  22. did anyone find that the double serge pencil skirt kind of stretches out? i think mine did but i might be crazy. i am thinking about buying more colors, but debating on sizing down because it might be too small if it doesn't stretch.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanks Christy. I want to try the 26s. All of my pencil skirts in 4 are too big also.

  24. Couldn't you get free shipping if you place the order in-store over the red phone? That's my plan. Still trying to get the bonbon coat at a discount.

  25. For those of you wanting to hold off until new rollout, I have an update on some of the items I saw in Paramus store last week.
I mostly looked sweaters (because of the 30% + 25% off).
Most of what's coming is what is in other stores now: oversized, chunky, heather grey, charcoal black or sable, ~50% acrylic content.

    This is what i tried:

Sweatshirt cut sweater in camel shade with diagonal zipper at the neck in thick boucle.
It had a cute cut, but boy, this thing added at least 2 sizes to my look! I laughed at my stumpy reflection, as it was almost comical.

Chunky, charcoal cardi, hand knitted look, with elaborate thick cable detail down the front and one button closure.
At least they had some sense to make the sleeves plain, but it was baxy in not a good way and added a lot of bulk in front. With my 34D chest I looked like a jolly good grandma, ready to knit you some more sweaters.

Oversized, chunky, short sleeved, light grey tunic type, v-neck pullover.
This actually draped well and looked cute with skinny jeans and boots but with 50% acrylic just not worth the price.
Don't remember but it was at lease $98, maybe more.

I think all these sweaters will end up on sale as they are definitely overpriced for what they are.
There were some more that were so blah, 'already saw it everywhere', I cannot even remember them.

I did walked out with one winner from the new rollout, a plain 100% merino marled black crewneck.
It is quite thick with 3 buttons on each shoulder. Really nice basic that looks great with a pair of jeans.
They come in variety of colors (including brights) and are priced at reasonable $69.

I think J crew is trying to jump on the current chunky, slouchy knit trend but this, imo, is not something they do well. I know better yarn content is expensive but I wish they would at least have more color choices, like in cashmere, to distinguish themselves from competition.

  27. wish there was free shipping! i also wish this promo applied to shoes & accessories.. and sales stuff! lol, my cart has a little bit of everything! i guess i'll just wait to see the new stuff on thursday!

  28. I am so sorry. You are all right in that there is NO FREE SHIPPING. I was in a rush to post this morning and I thought I saw more to the offer than there was. Again, so very sorry. :(

  32. Patsystone, the red phone will indeed get you free shipping but I don't believe you'll be able to apply the 20% off discount because it says "online only". Some SA's are nice and will advocate for you, though... so it's at least worth a try.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Was going to order, but will not pay shipping, so this promo is a bummer.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Gap (in-store) today only: 40% off, 45% off with a gap/ON/BR card. Quite a good discount, I will be getting jeans and cords with this.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Tick tock, tick tock, the 25% card is about to go off the clock ... and I have used it all of once, one one skirt. Stopped by big store today to see if there was anything else I wanted, but, no. Not even that Paris tee that was marked $14,99, because what really caught my eyes were the ratty, puckered neckline. A quick glance of the rest of the sale section revealed: Row upon row of dull, disheveled tees, and a cluster of sequin skirts attached to one another by poorly sewn sequins. Sort of sad this is the same store that 2-3 years ago dominated my wardrobe.

    I consoled myself at Starbucks.

  36. I DID get a cute Petit Four cardi at the store for about $30 (25% card, on sale and sweater promo!)Wow. Got a cute headband and a fun studded belt also using in-store 25% promo card. Store clerk would not let me order with 25% promo using red phone.
Genny--I have placed 3 orders with Talbots since it began promotion and am awaitiing my layering tank as well. I would have bought a pair of J Crew heeled oxfords, a velvet jacket and a cord skirt if promo was same as Talbots. No thank you, J Crew, for now. These will go on sale, and I can wait.

  37. What are you Talbot's shoppers buying? I looked through the site and didn't see much of interest but perhaps my eye was not keen enough. Would love to hear about amazing pieces.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Captain Crew, I can't speak for anyone else, but I ordered the cord pants in the ankle fit. I really like them - they fit similarly to the matchstick fit, but they're a little slimmer through the leg. I'm 5'4", so the regular ankle fit me like a short JC cord. I got the lavender color and it's very pretty! I like that Talbots offers their ankle cords in a better variety of colors than JC's toothpick this year (which is my favorite fit at JC).

  39. Thinking of getting a Lady Day coat but I'm not sure if it's right for me. I would LOVE to hear from anybody who has one.

First of all, I have a large bust--how's the fit in the chest?

Also, how warm is it (without Thinsulate, since that's all they're offering right now)?

Then I'll have to decide what color to get... just bought 2 pairs of brown shoes when all my coats are black, so I need something to go with them.

  40. Captain Crew, I think that the Talbots website is a bit picked over at this point, but I got the charmeuse ruffled shell in two colors, a couple pencil skirts, long leather gloves, and trouser jeans. Compared to JC, I think their website photography could be better and I didn't give some of the items a second look until I saw them in store. I think that the charmeuse ruffle shell is amazing in fabric (silk and spandex blend), design (no raw edges), and color selection. I also particularly like the glen plaid wool pencil skirt - fits like a glove, fully lined, totally flattering.

  41. Paige,

I did not use my red card as store was too far away and weekend plans took up all my free time. Glad you found a couple of things.

I am glad Talbots had the great offer in stores AND online with free shipping to boot! One of the items I wanted was sold out in my size. Talbots is remiding me of JCrew in so many ways right now. Including selling out of many great pieces/sizes right now!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Genny, you can also use the "Find in Store" feature and have them do a charge-send to you if it's in stock somewhere else. I did that for a piece that was sold out online but available in a store a couple of states away. They also applied the 20%.

    ReplyDelete
  43. JCAs, what does "sweep" refer to in terms of clothing!? I was told that the "sweep" measurement of one of the cardigans is 31". Confused. Help is very much welcome and appreciated!

    ReplyDelete
  44. @Fiona, my Lady Day coat is a couple of years old now, but IMO it runs small, particularly through the shoulders. It's great over dresses, but there is not room for a suit jacket underneath. Mine has the Thinsulate so I can't comment on the difference.

    ReplyDelete
  45. has anyone heard anything about the Mohair and cashmere dapple coat? I
think it looks nice on the website but its hard to tell what its really like in person...Thanks!

  46. OMG! OK I can vouch for a FACT that there *WAS* free shipping on this, over 150.... they must have changed it. I live in China and the time zone is 12 hours different, so I'm often around when things first get updated on websites. There was definitely 20% off plus free shipping over 150. They took the free shipping away!

I really want to boycott J. Crew like some friends I have are doing... I paid $17.50 to ship to a U.S. address the other day. Almost 20 freaking dollars in shipping. Ridiculous. J. Crew is the only store that charges such an asinine amount for shipping.... AND that was on an order of 250+!! At some point can't they GIVE us anything? They seem so greedy sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I keep hoping that J Crew will change this offer to include free shipping. Pl-eeease.....
I agree that Talbots is selling out of its best (non-frumpy) stuff very quickly. My fav pieces this fall are a chocolate brown suede boyfriend blazer, a beige sequin cardi and shell, and a gray cardigan with a very cool (sort of J Crew-like) applique with a silver ruffle shell. I also got a pair of cool black haircalf platform pumps. Many of these items are (sadly) sold out now. As someone pointed out earlier, all of the seams on the blouses are finished (not raw). I returned a Calista cami that was very cute, but I worried what would happen to it once I sent it to the dry cleaner. I do like to mix some J Crew pieces with Talbots to give the outfit a little edge.

  48. Captain Crew - I did a post here on some of my recent Tal purchases.

  49. silver lining,

Thanks for the tip. I saw that what I wanted was in my local store but did not realize it could be shipped to me and I couldn't get out and about. Will remember that for next time as coupon/offer has expired now:(

  50. Thanks for sharing the Talbots picks ladies. I'll have to give them a closer look. JCrew isn't the be-all, end-all for me and I like to shop around.

Gigi, I commented on your blog too, excellent post and love the IRL photos.

  51. Captain Crew - Thanks for checking it out.

  52. Here is a question: why do they offer free shipping when you order at a b&m by phone, but not when you order from home? They still send it to your home, so what's the diff?? I'm sick of the lack of free shipping. Every other site offers free shipping on $100 orders. Why does Crew have to make it a special event and make it $150? Bugs me.
