Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER & FALL sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I will try to go tomorrow as I actually received a phone call inviting me to an event (!) I am guessing more boxed cookies but nice nonetheless. New arrivals will be on the floor and if I spend (another) $150 I can get 20% off.

  2. hi, anyone know how much is Katelyn ruffle cardigan in store? Thanks in advance.

  3. Round up of some current in-store prices in this post.

  4. On topic: I went in last night and they were putting out some of the new arrivals. Some of the items are already on the website, but I did see a couple new jackets, several new tees, and a new cami I hadn't seen before. I snapped a few pics and will try to post them on my blog later today. :)

    ReplyDelete
  5. Also, New Arrivals will be online September 16th.

    ReplyDelete
  6. OT: If anyone is still shopping the FS the Skimmer pant comes to right around 13 w/the 30% off and they are simply THE BEST pants I have ever owned. Comfortable, slimming, nice transitional colors...I just can't say enough positive things about them. I can wear the 00 or 0 in regular sizes or in the petites 0 or 2.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Why, yes, I think I will! Be back in a little while with anything noteworthy! :)

    ReplyDelete
  8. Not planning on it, as I'm expecting a shipment today (my first in almost a month! Crazy.) but if the items don't work out I may be taking a trip to do some returns. Always glad to see pics from the JCA community!

  9. Went yesterday and saw some new arrivals and new markdowns here.

Also just posted some IRL here of the ciel etoile cardigan and marled shawl cardigan, both of which went to $69.99 yesterday in store (only saddle in the marled cardi).

    ReplyDelete
  10. Also, has anyone tried the wooly ribbed turtleneck?

    ReplyDelete
  11. jcrewjunkie,

I've been eyeing those pants for awhile. Can you tell me how they fit compared to the chino shorts? I've read that they run slightly big. Also, would they look good on a shorty like me? I'm barely 5'! TIA! :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Only stopping in today to make a few returns. Placed a few online orders yesterday and today, so I'm waiting to get those. Did pick up the ciel etoile cardigan in black yesterday, marked down to $69.99 in store. Contemplated the natural, which is more of a pinkish color, but I have a similar toned cardi from last year with sequins, so I opted for the black.

  13. I'm going in today for my appt. w/my PS for the 20% off. I'll report back later.

@Jackie, the skimmers are actually ankle length, so they'll probably work great for you. I have 2 pairs and love them! Got my 2nd pr. for $19.99 last go around

  14. got an email about this lovely stellina stellar top today! will be looking for it in stores! :)

  16. Stopping in to make a return on some jean shorts I got on sale that are too big. May pick up a few perfect v-necks if they have them in my store (they usually don't unfortunately) but other than that no plans to buy until some fall merchandise goes on sale.

    ReplyDelete
  17. shopwithm, I actually have the wooly ribbed turtleneck in a couple of colors. I am either an xs or s in J Crew sweaters and I took an xs (but I wanted it fitted). It is fairly sheer, but not enough for a cami (but I have the darker colors). I like it as a layering alternative to the tissue t-neck, which I think doesn't hold its shape well.

  18. Here is a link to an article from another site that you might find interesting.

  19. I went this am to get the cargo pants and cord skirt in store- no new arrivals out yet though :(

However- maybe new- I saw a scalloped zipper cardigan (full stack of them) and I about died because I want this so bad but I can't find xs or small anywhere.... There is a new version of it $98 I believe. I saw grey and black. I tried it on but IMO the fabric is horrible compared to the last version. Very thin cropped arms and boxy!

    I took a picture but I don't have a blog!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Jackie,

I have a crewlet version of the chinos and the skimmer pants fit similarly.

    ReplyDelete
  21. kitsmomny, thanks for that.

"This week, J.Crew sent out the first ever catalogue for their Collection range — the line launched back in 2008 in an eponymous boutique on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. (Collection was a big part of J.Crew’s rebranding efforts, and considered separate from their classic line — a distinction and price point they justify by defining it as “couture-quality” and highlighting the high-end materials by repeatedly using using relatively meaningless descriptors like “finished at a famed French mill.”)

With that last sentence, the spectacularly named Ms. Verena von Pfetten made me giggle into my café au lait (made by a guy with an Italian job title originally given to someone who serves a harder beverage and finished with a partially recycled lid).

    ReplyDelete
  22. LOL at LBH and the "relatively meaningless" comment from styleite.com! JC has decided that I'm not worthy of a Collection catalog--and they're right!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hi! Just in the middle of my connectivity-challenged vacation here... went into the U. Village store yesterday (yay), but no new items yet (boo). Picked up a couple of the Bettina camis ($24.99), Beaton popover ($29.99) and a in-store-only colour of the perfect shirt, a burnt orange ($29.99). Tried on a bunch of the jackets and sweaters from the last roll out for size. The velvet jacket in purple is very pretty IRL. Nothing else struck my fancy at FP. Will post pics and reviews when I get home in a week and half.

    ReplyDelete
  24. So I ventured in, and I'm not sure what was new. Saw a plum drop-waist velvet dress, few Ts, some pretty polka dot scarves and a bedazzled sweater. I'll try to post pictures soon. The thing that really struck me was that neither the scarf nor the sweater is wool - they are acrylic blends. The scarf especially has a stiff hand - not at all the way wool drapes. The velvet dress is 80-something % rayon and only a little silk. The quality continues to decline....

Not sure whether this was mentioned anywhere yet, but the navy sailor stripe always cardi is now $24.99

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oops, forgot to mention that I'll put some item reviews in the dedicated post.

    ReplyDelete
  26. jcrewlove - If you want to email the pic to me, I'll put it up tomorrow. gigiofca at gmail

  27. Hey everyone! :) I just posted another pic of a cardigan from my trip to J.Crew last night. Click here to see it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. For anyone who's visited today, is there an extra % off sale in the stores yet?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I may have missed someone posting this yesterday.

It's the latest newsletter from GOOP. If you scroll down, there are 2 J Crew dresses; one reminds me of the lovely lace cami Dina reecntly reviewed and I've not seen the other one...yet.

    Have a good weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thank you mommydearest and jcrewlove! The SA commented to me last night that it should happen soon since they have so much sale merchandise...I was hoping today was the day.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Few pictures of a new sweater and some tees:
    http://tinyurl.com/2w8q3u9
Sorry, I'm sure there was other new stuff, but I couldn't tell what it was.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hoping to get a crewlet update. I only live 20 miles away from one, but I think this is going to be a lazy weekend. Would love to know if there's anything worth making the trip for.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Stopped at crewlet today when passing by. Nothing to report. Nothing new in addition to what Gigi posted last weekend. One thing I noticed that irked me was that the "new" spice tee and paris tee are at the outlet now. Yeah-that's right. Both appear to have been marked down $5 and then have an additional 30% off. So is this why jcrew is changing their return policy? Because they will move their inventory that doesn't sell to the outlets and then it will be on the online outlet? Grrr.... >:( Going to B&M tomorrow to make a return- I'm sure I'll get sucked in to buying something.

    ReplyDelete
  34. lbelleconner - that is very interesting about the quick move of the tees to the outlet. Yeah, I wonder if they'll just dump their stuff there - it would make more sense to have JC first quality (ha) stuff go to the Crewlet rather than manufacturing a lot of pieces for it. Isn't that what Talbots does - and what I thought outlets were supposed to be.

    ReplyDelete
  35. JCrewLove, I have a scalloped zipper cardigan, I believe the "old" version, that I paid $70 for. Tags still on, brand new. I'm debating returning it, it has a very very slight loose weave on the back (millimeters), which isn't a total deal breaker. But, I bought it as a backup to the one I own, so I'm feeling guilty about hoarding. Would you want it before I return it? I have received one other from JCrew with a snag, seems hard to get this cardi with no flaws (especially with the zipper and the silk).

    ReplyDelete
  36. Uhhhh, I probably should have added, it's a size small.

    ReplyDelete
  37. No % off in my store, but there were signs for 25% off accessories (final sale) and $10 off belts.

A few new arrivals as well, but nothing memorable.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Angry thumb- this is so generous of you!! I actually obsessively stalked the blog determined to find it before the lower quality ones flood the world and I found one in gray!!! What color is yours? If black perhaps I need two? (who's hoarding now haha!)

Btw I know we all hate fs however I got two items today i am super super happy with- the sweatshirt dress - sorry not actual name and that little camo mini. I can write reviews later about them but I'm excited to love something lurking in fs and wanted to share with you all!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hex and LBH, these are the moments…

    ReplyDelete
  40. JCrewlove, it is indeed the grey. I wasn't as fond of the black, but I could seriously wear the grey one every single day of the week. I am intrigued to see what the "new" version looks like.

    ReplyDelete
  41. FFM, thanks for sharing the new arrival photos. The jacket is really dowdy-looking IMO and those zippers are a downgrade. Not interested in the acrylic blend sweater either. Hopefully there are better offerings to come.

    ReplyDelete
  42. So, I went in to my B&M store. No % off sale and nothing too exciting on sale, except for the marled cardigan in the beige color which I bought and got the 20% off b/c I shopped w/my PS today. LOVE it. If the black color goes on sale, I'm going to get it. I also bought the grey tweed shrunken blazer. Love this too. And got the Arrow cardigan in the olive color. LOVE. I also got some perfect t-shirts b/c they were on promo and w/the 20% off it came out to be like $15 for each t-shirt. And finally, picked up a pair of matchstick cords which were on promo of $69.50 w/the 20% on top of that. So, all in all, I'm pleased w/what I got!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Forgot to mention, I saw that embellished sweater and thought it looked cheap and didn't like the way the material looked at all. Looked like it would pill in a nanosecond. I'll pass on that one.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ooops, one more thing, my SA told me about the return policy. This is going to definitely affect my shopping habits at this store. I cannot believe they will not even give you store credit after 30 days. Totally sucky. I think b/c of this, the only way I'll be shopping JC in the future is on deep markdowns.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I went to my B&M tonight (Boca Raton) and for some reason the marled shawl-collar cardigan was on sale in the black color and not the saddle/beige (although it seems everyone else's store has the opposite). I tried it on and liked it, but I want the beige color (and no way am I paying full price for it). For some reason, the pricing in my store is always off. I'm used to the differences between the B&M and online, but their prices never seem to match what other stores are doing. So annoying!

I didn't end up buying anything. The sale section was ruffled and sad, as usual. I was pleasantly surprised though to hear the SAs tell at least two people about the new return policy without being prompted. Nice, but more inconsistency!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ooh, do you think they'll take away the option to return internet orders to the b&m? That would practically kill my shopping experience!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. IRL, don't give them any ideas! :) I agree with you that it would be a very bad thing.

    ReplyDelete
  48. In today for my appointment with my PS. A few interesting new pieces, the usual suspects on the sale racks, no additional percentage off. Ended up buying the Arrow cardigan in Heather Elm, which is truly one of the best made, worth-the-price items I've seen in a while. And...got the Moss Tweed skirt. I know there have been comments about the high synthetic content, but honestly, it could have been made out of recycled plastic bags and I would still have bought it. Such beautiful colors, looks good with the aforementioned Arrow sweater, goes with a lot of the sweaters I already have. When I got home and checked my Greenwich Tweed skirt from 04 or 05 (my all time favorite), the fabric content was basically the same. So...actually really happy with the skirt, even happier with 20% off.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I can't go this weekend, but will definitely make a trip next week to return a crap load of stuff before this new return policy is in effect.

Also, the fact that they are not announcing this 30 day return policy is deceptive to the customers who are not aware of it as we JCAs do. BR made sure I knew about their policy change weeks before it started.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Has anyone noticed on some of the "ruffle" designed tank tops, this strange shiny "plastic" that is behind the stitching? I remember it on a ruffled tank over the summer, thought it was strange and that when the ruffles become less fluffy it will show through. Then I ordered the tissue ruffle rows shell, I like the gather details, and they have the same strange plastic lining behind them, very visible if they lay flat. Am I OCD, did anyone else notice this? Even new, the light really picks them up.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Catrina - I wonder if your store marked the black marled cardi in error. I have only seen the saddle color marked down. The only way to know, I guess, is to have one rung up at the register. If you haven't seen the Crewlet pics, I have 3 posts worth. Click here to get to the main page of my blog. You'll see a J Crew section to the upper right and the links are there.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oh yeah...I saw the golden brocade top (29625). Boo. It was the only thing I wanted to see in person. That and the buffalo boy check shirt (28642) in autumn sunset. Pass on both. The arms are tight on the brocade top and it looks like something I could score for much less in Chinatown. No offense at all to Chinatown. They would have a better selection of something similar. The top is a watered down rehash of something J Crew has done before and much better in a jacket. Irl pics coming in the next week.

  53. IRL,

  54. Put some new fitting room pics on my blog here!

Angry Thumb - when was the higher quality Zipper Scalloped Cardi from, this summer or last year? I got both the gray and the black from this summer. If the knit got thinner from that version . . . well I have a hard time imagining it getting any thinner!

Also, I know what you mean about the plastic piece under the ruffles. I have the Tissue Ruffle Tank, if that's the one you're referring to and noticed it also. I thought it might have been some kind of backing like the fabric-y kind you sometimes see on the insides of tees with embellishment, but I haven't seen any of their ruffled tees needing the plastic stuff before so I don't know.

  55. socialscientist, thanks for posting the pic of the Milo - I've been very curious about it. Cute as a button!

I wish that the 20% sweater promo would go to the web. My B&M doesn't get many sizes in (or what I like is usually catalog-only), plus I'm never crazy about the overly "handled" items. We'll see. There will probably be something that goes Monday to Wednesday night before new arrivals (again) on Thursday.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Good Morning Everyone! :)

socialscientist: Thanks for the pics! :)

silver_lining: I tried on the Milo as well and really liked it. If it got colder here for an extended period of time I would definitely consider getting it. The fit reminds me a lot of the Maggie jacket from a couple years ago. The size 2 was a perfect. I'll post pics sometime this weekend, as well. :)

For anyone interested I reviewed the Bayberry Flouncette blouse here.

  57. Social scientist- I tried on the scalloped zipper cardigan in store yesterday and I thought (and The sales associate agreed) that the fabric was really thin let me know what you all think when you see it though!!

  62. Visited Lake Forest, IL store yesterday, my SA was very chatty about the new return policy. There were boxes of new arrivals waiting to be unpacked, on the floor the 16th as others have mentioned.

Also, that JC has "reclassified" certain retail stores with the fall rollouts, and some (like LF) have been given a higher "ranking" and will now carry more Collection, shoes, and bags. It seems to be true, I've never seen so many bags in that store, which is nice because I CAN'T STAND the guessing game of "How big is it really?" that you have to play online!

I tried on the Milo, LOVE. No extra % on sale but it must be coming soon ... the racks were stuffed.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Catrina and others: I may be mistaken, but I think I saw the black version of the marled cardigan marked down in my store yesterday also (Old Orchard, IL). Not 100% sure, but I remember being surprised to see it marked down...

  64. Ruffles, one of the SAs at my store (Raleigh/Crabtree) told me the same thing a few weeks ago about there being different tiers of stores on the way, that ours was supposedly supposed to be one of those upper-tier ones. ... since i never buy anything for FP, I'm just hoping it doesn't kill my ability to shop at the store closest to me! LOL

  66. Sorry to keep posting, but I forgot to mention that when my SA was telling me about the new return policy, she did tell me online returns will be 60 days b/c of the mailing times, etc...

SocialScientist, I love your pics. That velvet dress is adorable! I wish I had seen that in my store yesterday, but I don't think it was there. Very cute.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Elaine, ITA. And I was thinking ... are there actually any LOW tier stores, have any really been "downgraded," or are they simply giving some locations a few more online items to give the customers the impression that their local stores are more "exclusive?"

All I know is ... I'm glad for the opportunity to determine if I am buying a satchel or a suitcase before I fork over $300 :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. socialscientist: thanks for the pics! the print/color of that green chiffon floral cami is beautiful. i would love a scarf in that print! hope they make one! :)

and click on VIEW PRINT MAGAZINE (towards the bottom).

Go to pages 18-19 for a view of Frank and his collaborators (yes, that word does have unpleasant associations and I think I'm beginning to know why). This is a very expensive print ad.

Then page on to page 60 for the editorial take on Frank and his works. It sounds an awful lot like Jenna-worship.

  73. I went this morning to try on some of the new items. I LOVE the moss tweed pencil skirt and the notte tweed pencil skirt. I may not be able to wait on a mark down for both of these. TTS I like the beaded stamp tee in aluminum, although I will wait for a markdown (or two). I really like the dot flouncette blouse, although it's a little dressy for school. I might be able to dress it down enough to make it work, but regardless this will hopefully come home with me after a markdown. I also like the sweet violet cardi (which is on sale in my b&m for 49.99 or 59.99). It's a nice weight for here in SC. The flouncette blouse also comes in a pale turquoise blue with light brown paisley. The blouse reads a little matronly in the pattern and color IMO. However, I did like it with the sweet violet cardi which surprised me, and also with the moss tweed skirt. I like the crystallized cotton tank, it was a nice weight, but I can't wear the pale pink color and already have tanks in the other colors. I tried on 2 new embellished cardis - the one that Fabulous Florida Mommy posted, but in a beautiful blue color, and another one that I haven't seen anywhere else yet. I didn't like it on the table (oatmeal color with horizontal stripes of chiffon with buttons and sequins maybe, something sparkly), but it wasn't horrid on. That said, I wouldn't pick it up even on sale b/c it's a terrible color on me.

The 25% jewelry, $10 off belts, $10 off cords promos were still going on. I did not see signs for any other promos. I asked the store manager about the 30% off in b&m's rumor, and he claimed he knew nothing about it. Said he'd be surprised, since it usually only runs at the end of season. They had a huge sale section, though, so maybe...

    ReplyDelete
  74. I forgot to mention that there's a new necklace tank out. I saw it in gray and navy and the gray was not heathered like the original.

Also coupons for Express, A/X, Origins and Bare Escentuals. How I wish there was a 20% off J Crew coupon!!

  76. Wondering ... can anyone comment on how well all the silver tone jewelry from JC is holding up? I'm thrilled to have silver metal vs. the gold as an option since I tend to wear more silver anyway, but I'm curious about the finish on this stuff. What do you think if you've purchased any of these pieces? Does it hold up? Tarnish? TIA.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Well, the Katie Holmes event I was supposed to go to today got postponed because of a "scheduling conflict." Made 2 JC visits nonetheless. Went to Columbus Circle store, which always has a big sale section. I picked up the remini cardigan in the light pink color for 59.99. I also got the paisley flouncette blouse for 49.99. Went to collection store as well, and didn't buy anything but they did have some new arrivals out. They had two new shockingly short mini skirts in different brocade patterns, and a new zippered (same zipper as remini but it goes the full length of the cardigan) merino cardigan that is crewneck with a single ruffle down the front. It was actually pretty cute but it looked too cropped on me when I tried it on. They also had a cotton tissue tank top with a bunch of rhinestone detailing in a feather-like pattern for... $198! Major pass at that price. I also saw the notte tweed pencil skirt and my suspicions based on the online pic is confirmed--the tweed is super cheap looking, more like JC outlet or LOFT quality, not up to par with the lovely tweeds JC usually does.

  78. Thanks Heidi, that's what I suspected.

  81. gem twin, thank you for posting that. What an interesting blog, even if it is a bit slanted toward menswear.

The Harris Tweed JC jacket is down to just two or three sizes now and I think that paper catalog made the difference because you could see the coloring better. If my size comes back in stock, it will be hard to resist but I wish they had made a shorter length schoolboy style jacket in the Harris Tweed.

  82. Can anyone who has the crackled copper pencil skirt tell me a color of cashmere sweater they think would look good with it, or maybe give me an idea of something they wear with it that looks good, I'm stuck.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I visited the JC in the Domain in Austin TX today to make some online returns. I suggest anyone looking for specific fall items give this store a try if you are looking for some new items as they had lots of fall new releases. The sale section is a bit picked over but they have lots of new fall pieces, ballet flats, sweaters, minis, the sequin bloomers, perfect shirts, jeans in new fits/colors, coats, a beautiful "brocade" top, bags, etc.....not sure how well everything is selling as it was over 90 degrees here in Austin today but the store was fullof people!! For that very reason, I was not inspired to try anything on...too hot for fall stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  84. There have been a couple comments raving about the moss tweed pencil skirt and I have to put in my two cents. I found the fabric to have a very cheap feel and the shorter length gave it an odd ift. I compared it to the sapphire and blushed tweed skirts that I own and it looks and feels like a cheap immitation. Returned it. Not sure I would even buy this one on sale, I don't think it will hold up for more than one season.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Captain, ITA ! I think that skirt has attracted favorable comment because it's the best of a bad lot this season.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I don't think my store got anything new.
