Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER & FALL sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  2. I think the waxed utility jacket (29329) has been on promo for $99.

  3. New J.Crew Gimmick of the next 3 days...(notice how they do these little rejected spurts of so called "sales"?

Up to 35% on shorts, tees, and swim.

I think I will pass on the crap.

  5. I went to Bellevue Square today. I didn't have a lot of time (my bored mother was with me) but I didn't see anything at ALL I wanted to try on. I'd been holding off on spending my whopping $25 reward card, but since there was nothing I really liked either in the store or the online rollout I picked up the Pilar cami on sale just to use up the card.

The sale section was pretty much all embellished tees.

  6. I tried on this (http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/shirtstops/camis/PRDOVR~29212/29212.jsp) on Wednesday in the green (Seaweed) color and the fit and fabric were divine. I'll be ordering in the Wisteria though, which they didn't have in the store- at least not yet. Perfect for layering under the cardigan that is soon to be mine (http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/knitstees/perfectfittees/PRDOVR~29176/29176.jsp) in Bronzed Twig.

Two of my favorite fall finds thus far.

  7. *PRICE JACK ALERT*

The beloved Vintage Bateau tee (24484) has gone from $36 to $42.50 (this is the price that the item is marked in stores).

  8. I should be able to make it in on Sunday...looking forward to seeing some of the new arrivals in person. :)

  9. Hexicon, I got the pilar cami as well.... Keep your eyes peeled. I am betting that rimini cardi will soon go on sale.... It doesn't look like much on the table, but it will look great over your cami, in the cobblestone color. Too cute with that paisley ruffle popping out!

  10. Does anyone know of more in-store markdowns? I just saw that they added more colors of the Bettina, and the Valerian cardi.

  11. Since it seems the new arrivals are exciting just a hand full of people will be interesting to see reports back from those who go. I was planning on going but since I did not see any must haves will wait until the next go around which should be soon the way roll outs keep happening...maybe Christmas will be more exciting!

  12. Lizzy T,

I wanted to try the Valerian cardi but now that is went from full price to FINAL SALE in a few weeks it is now off my list. I refuse to buy a sweater I have not seen in person and is not returnable. JCrew is really making me MAD!!!! I am so over them. I need to take a break, seriously. What company takes a full priced item from regular to final sale in a few weeks. Crazy business practices.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Genny-
I totally agree and I'm thinking that final sale will go away soon (or hoping).

    ReplyDelete
  14. In fact, unless I find something I really love, I'm going to spend my money at Old Navy and Talbots. Cute stuff, less expensive and real (not final) sales.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Silver lining...yes, I just noticed that the price went up on the vintage bateau tee this morning. So disappoined! I got the olive green version in the store yesterday, and they matched the online price of $36. I was going to go back and get the red version from the store today, but not at $42.50. What a bummer.

  16. I know there have been some posts about how Jcrews customer service has gone downhill but I placed an order Monday during the SHOPNOW sale and for some reason it wasn't placed. When I realized this today, I contacted their customer service and they told me to replace my order (some of which I couldn't because it was sold out) and they would honor the promotion. Very happy and surprised!

  17. I have a possible return. I can't decide whether or not to keep the wool crepe trousers. If I keep them they'll need some minor alterations and I don't know if I want to bother. I'll try them on again tonight and see if I feel any affection for them.

If they had an extra % off sale, I might buy a couple things I saw on the sale rack, but the current prices aren't enticing enough right now.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hexicon: You are going to LOVE the Pilar cami and I love the idea of the Rimini in Cobblestone worn over it (THANKS Chic Chauffeur!)

Genny: I have seen the Valerian cardi IRL and it is divine. The colors are so rich and perfect for Autumn. As far as the sizing goes, it hits at hip (I am 5'4") and runs TTS.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I agree that the Pilar cami is very cute. I wish I'd bought that instead of the Pilar perfect shirt. The shirt is nice but I already have so many similar shirts.

  21. I won't be stopping in, went a few days ago and picked up:

    Sequin pencil skirt
    Ciel étoilé cardigan in black
Bayberry washed wool scarf in vintage wisteria

I did see the Marled shawl-collar cardigan, I like last years version much better (which I own and used to death last fall!).

    Happy shopping to all!

  22. Good morning! Does anyone have IRL pics and reviews of the Jericho hobo in the atlantic color or the neon pere cotton cardigan? I've been debating these 2 items for 3 weeks now. Couldn't pull the trigger last night. Scared of what I might receive in the box. Is the leather soft? Are the colors of the bag and cardigan true to life? The cardigan looks peach on my monitor, yet it does have the word neon in it so clearly what I'm seeing on screen is not going to be the same as the item IRL. Of course, my local B&M never carried either item so I've only seen these online. Thanks in advance.

    ReplyDelete
  23. The Valerian cardi was marked down in the store too.

OT: Even though I'm a native Northwesterner I hadn't been in an Eddie Bauer store for years. They're doing a brand update and have some really cute embellished tees in deeper colors than JC offers. I picked up a deep olive that is s/o online.

Ironically, EB, AT, and Talbots were almost empty and the SAs were falling all over themselves to help. At JC the SAs were chatting to each other in a corner and didn't greet or offer assistance, but the store was packed. Guess they must be doing something right.

    ReplyDelete
  24. CMG--I have seen the atlantic blue color IRL. It was shockingly brighter than I thought it would be. It is really fun though. The leather is super soft and wonderful. I think you could pair it with charcoals and black in the winter even though it is also very summery.

    ReplyDelete
  25. going to try to get to the b&m. I was there before it was all on the floor and got my favorite bateau stripe in red and olive. Even the additional 5.50 makes it much less than other stripe tees I like (and hoard). I was hoping to see that olive funnel-neck coat but it's still only at net-a-porter and not the JC site. Wish I could see the Lemlem items IRL but they won't be at my shop--I think they are beautiful but not sure about such a skinny scarf. Still no wool pants I like. Plenty of great basic sweaters but need the coat and pants for color before I fill in...

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'll be going to the San Francisco J Crew tomorrow...can't wait to see some new arrivals IRL!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I don't believe material cost went of for that Bateau top for JC to be price jacking since last season. Totally taking advantage of the popularity of the item.

I will not be going this weekend. Nothing really that I can wear now since it's almost 90 degrees here.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I just got an email from Madewell for their summer sale. They do not seem to have Final Sale.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Marietta, I love last year's marled cardi as well. It was more like a sweater jacket with its fitted shape. I bought the gray when it first came out and wore it so much I had to buy the rosewood as well when it went on sale. I look forward to wearing them again this winter, they still look like new.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Has anyone seen the black and white Buffalo Check Boy shirt? Is the white a crisp white or that dirty dingy white?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Just got back from my B&M, where I tried on the Starry Donegal tweed pencil skirt (Item 29434) in aluminum, and the Herringbone Minnie pant (Item 28471). I am in LOVE with both -- so much so that I couldn't decide which to purchase today and actually left J. Crew empty-handed! I will most likely purchase the skirt first, because I think I will be able to wear it to work more in this weather.

Another price increase (although minor): the Sequin-stripe Henley Tank (Item 26531) is now $72 in my B&M, up from $68.

    Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

  33. um, I don't think I'm going anywhere. Nothing I want :(

    ReplyDelete
  34. Elizabeth,

I ordered the black buffalo check shirt but it went back last week. From what I can remember, the white is a very crisp white. I was hoping for a more snuggly fit and material is a bit too thin. I was hoping to wear the item into fall/winter. I would say fits TTS, given that it was intended for loose fitting for summer or warmer days. HTH.

  35. Took gift card (see? I do buy things!) to local Crewlet. Just back. J.Crew has invented unspendable money! Not just me, either, really, truly; overheard lots of grumbles.

So there were lots of tees, some mismatched suit-y things, some wool/nylon blends, lots of tees, lots of ballerinas(still?), lots of hairbands, lots of tees...

Usually this Crewlet has current catalogs at checkout; not today! I was told they were still expected.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Couldn't stop yawning as I wandered around store... short skirts, long sweaters (what's up with all the pseudo sweatshirts being tunic length?), dull colors, unlined jacket, same old art tees, same old ruffles, same old everything ... I'm ready to declare this the most boring J.Crew Fall collection I've seen, but being the optimistic sort, hope springs eternal (can it autumn eternal?). Maybe better things are coming next month ...

    ReplyDelete
  37. For the few people wanting sequin pants, my b&m now has a black pair out for $198--a cheaper alternative to the $650 silver harem version. :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Saw 6 nice items from this rollout, but nothing interesting enough for a visit or at full-price. Disappointed with the coats. Glad I have my Felicia, Lucinda, Lille & Boulevard to keep me warm.

I have a new shopping rule: WAIT. Life will go on & retailers will continue to turn out new, lovely things. If it's meant to be, there are always popbacks (hello Ingenue coat at $182) & ebay at the right price.

    ReplyDelete
  39. My trip to the crewlet in June was the last one ever. I just don't like the cheapo versions of the clothes, and the prices are really high. It's a stupid concept. If they're going to have outlets, just stock the sale and overstock stuff, jeez. . .

I've got two things on my "really want" list. . .

the stripe marche jacket and the britten booties . . .

anybody seen either one in real life?

    ReplyDelete
  40. I went back to my B&M store today b/c I had a return and was close by. I tried on the fleurette shirt, the sweater that crisscrosses in the front, a beautiful pewter looking jacquard pencil skirt, a really cute purple perfect shirt blouse w/small flowers on it and I tried on the Khloe cami. So, I loved the pewter jacquard skirt, the purple perfect shirt w/flowers and the sweater w/the crisscross. But the sweater was a wool/nylon cashmere blend that I didn't like. So, I'm undecided on that one. The fleurett blouse was really pretty but a little shapeless. And the Khloe cami was very disappointing. Too shiny and also kind of boxy and just didn't lay right. I just wanted to try some things on to get an idea of fit in case some of it goes on sale in the future. Not ready to buy right now. Also, today, I got the Alecia black suede shoes and they are GORGEOUS but high. They run a smidge small, but I ordered up a half size, so the fit was good. I think I'm going to take those back b/c of the height. I also ordered them in the beige leather on FS and will obviously keep those. I'm glad I took a chance on that. So far, the only thing I think I may buy full price is that super cute bronze cardigan w/the metal studs. I didn't see it in the store, but it's in the catalog and I really like it.

    ReplyDelete
  41. oops, forgot to mention that I did buy the polka dot cami that crosses in the front and has a tie around the waist. It was on sale for $59.99. Hardly a bargain, but it is so pretty and extremely flattering. I think it would be great w/jeans, black pants, skirts, etc....

    ReplyDelete
  42. Sorry to keep rambling. CMG, I did take a leap of faith and ordered the Jericho hobo in the blue. I love bags w/color and hobos are my favorite. I haven't gotten it yet. But I will definitely let you know how it is when I get it. I thought the price was excellent w/the 30% off.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Anyone know which of the new sweaters are currently in the B&Ms? I'm especially looking for the Mirabella henley and the Merino whisper ruffle.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Nothing like a trip to the b&m to...I want to say 'to bring me to my senses' but since there isn't much to love I'll have to say to confirm my opinion based on the website. I went to the b&m today and left empty-handed. I even forgot to grab a new catalog.

I tried on the Waxed Utility Jacket (on special for $99 in stores) in sizes small & medium. My normal size small 'just fit' to feeling a bit constrictive in the shoulders, & the medium was too boxy. I also couldn't get past the stiffness of the jacket. (I didn't care for the Downton Field Jacket from last year either.) Maybe someday they'll offer a 'broken-in' fit w/cinched waist.

I also tried the Solid Ripstop Field Jacket (w/the interior drawstring waist & lining). It fit & felt the best even though I could only try it on in a medium. It's a pass for me in olive or twig. Maybe a nice black, or dare I say, grey! The sa said this has been a best seller.

I really wanted to see the Marled Shawl Collar Cardi in both colors. It felt soft but that is as far as I got. The Saddle color didn't really draw me in & at some point I was pretty bored & didn't care to look anymore or try anything on.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Purchased the starry donegal tweed pencil skirt and the washed bayberry scarf. The skirt really is nice - tts, nice fabric. Tweed normally isn't my thing, but this is lightweight and not rough or thick. I also tried the Fallyn skirt. I do think this is tts, but it fits a little higher on the waist and perhaps is a bit snugger in the hips. Also shorter, like the skirts from this summer.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The glen plaid minnie came home with me today. I love this minnie pant. It is a looser fitting minnie than the new restyled bi-stretch wool minnie. I thought the bi-stretch minnie material was too thin, and the cut was kind of funny. but the glen plaid minnies.....oh how I love them!!!! Kind of a slouchy minnie. I think these are my new favorite pants. I paired them with the dotsalota cami and a black jackie, and thought I had gone to style heaven!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Kris--what colour tweed pencil skirt did you buy? I'm wondering about the moss and if it's very green IRL or if it's brownish like in the photo online?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Clicquot-

I bought the gray (a light gray with darker flecks). My store didn't have the moss. I'd like to see that irl as well.

    ReplyDelete
  49. JRuby18 and gem twin, thank you so much for the jericho information. When you receive your bag,I would be grateful to see IRL pics of the bag and get your thoughts on the feel/quality of the leather (would you consider posting a review?). I thought I could use the bag year round. As gem twin mentioned, perhaps I can pair it as a pop of color against the black and greys of the fall/winter season, much like JC mixes bright coats with darker clothing choices. With the 30%, it's very tempting to purchase a non neutral bag. Still, $120 is $120. LOL

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Also OT: Yesterday I received a mailer from Ann Taylor with two coupons (good until 9/26) for 20% entire purchase ($100 online) and 30% off single priced item. Let me know if you want the codes. Why can't J Crew do this???

    ReplyDelete
  51. LizzyT: I would be appreciative of those codes :-) My email is labellehelene at sbc global dot net

Thanks a million - and agree on sentiment it would be nice if jcrew was equally thoughtful!

    ReplyDelete
  52. CMG & Jrube18
I have seen the purse in real life it is true to the color. Very pretty and soft. I have been debating between the tote & hobo. I think I'll end up buying he hobo since it's on salsa. It will also go nice with jeans, browns & champagnes.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Question about the Vintage Bateau tee: does the fabric have a rough, stiff feel? I saw some striped tees in my b&m that looked like the Vintage Bateau tees, but I was surprised by the fabric.

    ReplyDelete
  54. The Vintage Bateau tee is a thicker cotton with a grainy weave or a normal weight tee with some stretch to the fiber so it is heavier. It kind of reminds me of an old fashioned sweatshirt that has bevome very very worn thin--that kind of grainy.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Just got back from my b&m where I tried several items on. I like the toothpick cords, but kind of wish the zippers weren't there. I had high hopes for the ciel etoile cardi and it is gorgeous, but the natural is actually a very pale shell pink which is not a good color for me. If it sticks around through several markdowns, I'll get it. I'd get the black, but I already have 4 black cardis (one is sparkly) so I don't need another. The confetti cami is too much ruffle for me. The fountain cami is flattering in its cut, but again the color isn't best for me. I would get it after some markdowns. It would be great under a cardi, too. LOVE the ruffled jersey dress. My b&m had black, which I don't see online. This one is really cute with the infinity cardi over it and then belted. If it had been on promo in stores (or if I had known for sure it was promo'd online), I'd have gotten it. Now that I see them online, I think I'd rather have the charcoal or shadow, so maybe I'm glad I waited? I like the crystal patterns necklace - perfect for me and my lifestyle. I definitely want to pick this up at some point. I like the tissue tux henley - very cute. B&m colors are not online and I'd rather have the dark plum. All the sa's and my ps liked the silk and wool ruffle shell on me, but I didn't. I love and bought the peekaboo sequin cardi in wisteria. So pretty, and I can wear it now in my classroom (although I'll have to take it off for the HOT car ride home :D). I also bought a tank to wear with it and a (not final) sale skirt for my niece. I saw the bayberry blouse and the material is beautiful! I don't think I'd get a lot of wear out of it, so I didn't even try it on. I'm hoping they make a cardi or skirt in this print at some point.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Just posted a review and IRL pics of the Marled Hoodie and the Marled cardi in camel on my blog.

    ReplyDelete
  57. math teacher: I saw the jersey ruffle dress in my b&m today too and LOVED it. It was surprisingly flattering and wouldn't have even tried it if an SA hadn't brought it to me.

I will have some more reviews and IRL pics up later on. I tried on a lot including the starry tweed pencil skirt, a new gingham perfect shirt (teeny gingham checks!), the cotton-wool ruffle popover, the new toothpick twill pants(?), and some dresses. I only walked away with one thing, which was the marled hoodie.

    ReplyDelete
  58. @Jeanne--I think the tees you saw are the St. James tees from France. They are very think and heavy and sort of rough (and they last for decades) the vintage bateau which is my favorite tee shirt is soft and drapey but not stretchy like a perfect-fit tee. They look sort of aged but not distressed or phony. Hope that makes sense.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Went to the B&M and was surprised at how few of the new items from the catalog are there. The knit "blazers" are not lined other than the sleeves. How stretched out of shape is that jacket going to be with wear? Saw the light plum Tomboy shirt and not sure it will be a keeper when mine arrives, it looks a bit faded. The others look good. The white tuxedo style button down is positively see through. Minimal shoes, one bag, one cashmere style, just very limited. SAs were really helpful but I will have to order most items. Catalog looks gorgeous.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Not my auction, but in my eBay travels there is a size 8 Greenwich Tweed coat with a BIN of $79 (item 230510187215). I love mine - such a classic!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I went this weekend, and the only thing that came home with me was the metallic beach cardi (for $56, a deal IMO!). I took my mom, and even she was underwhelmed. She said it was like walking through a world of beige.

I did hit Talbots yesterday, and posted some reviews on my blog. (no camera pics though, sadly)

  62. OT/SUN: NEW MARK-DOWNS
Sailor-stripe always cardigan $29.99 in the white with navy stripes

Beaten twill popover in the grey $39.99 (thought this was pretty much brand new??)

lots of recent past and several new items in the FS section today.

    ReplyDelete
  63. All colors of the Bettina cami are on sale (FS, but sale...)

    ReplyDelete
  64. I picked up the bettina cami in tuscan olive ($49.99 in the store vs. $59.50 online), the valerian cardigan, & the vintage bateau top in olive ... i LOVE everything i purchased!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Here is a post on some dresses I tried on yesterday, inc. the Ruffle jersey dress in black and the Super 120s Tuxedo dress.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I made it to my B&M yesterday evening and was pleasantly surprised. We have officially become a LUXE store and received many of the new shoes, handbags, and collection pieces. I saw numerous pieces I would like to have, but only came home with the Marled Shawl-Collar cardigan in Saddle, Paris Tee, and Beady Falls tee in an in-store only pinkish color. I posted pics of all 3 items here on my blog. :)

Btw, the store director had on the sequin bloomers and they looked fabulous on her. Most sizes were sold out in the store (including mine) but they are back online as of today in numerous sizes and on promo, too. I placed an order for a pair this morning...not sure if I'll keep them, but I'm curious to try them on. They could be adorable for a holiday party with a pair of black tights and heels.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I know some of the JCAs were interested in Talbots new items, and I just posted some pics here

    here.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Love all the Talbots items you posted. I was there as they were putting out many of these items last Wed. I am planning on buying the tweed jacket. I don't see a single JCrew jacket that I even like this year and usually I buy several!!!!!

I got the new Talbots catalog with the denim colored cover. I looked at it last night and marked several pages for items I like as well as styling ideas. This is exactly what I USED to do with my JCrew catalogs!!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. shopwithm - love the pics. Now' I'm wanting some Talbots pieces. I'll definitely have to stop in and try some things on. :)

    ReplyDelete
  70. Went to a B&M about 2 hours away & had such a bad experience that I called customer service as I was walking out of the store! I had to return the Mixed Stone ring. I loved it & thought it was perfect for fall, however it was too large. The SA was so rude to me when I had to return it. It was only a week since I bought it and I had the receipt.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Just had the opposite experience. Maybe they are all stoners at my store--they never bat an eye at my returns, are always cheery and usually complimentary of my outfit or something.

So many new things! Hard to see it all. Didn't like the new catalog so much. some of the sets looked like flop houses to me. I like the more clean and spare JC.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Fawn L...I feel for you. I have had very similar experiences with my local store. It got so bad I started driving to a further location (50 miles away) for better customer service. I also filed a complaint with my online PS.
Before I started visiting the other store, I would remind myself that if sizing, item descriptions online been better, I would not need to return at all (like in the good old days!).

    ReplyDelete
  73. Has anyone tried the Lightweight Cotton Beach pants? They are $9.99 and I'm wondering if they are worth it. Any reviews?

    Thanks!
