Starting Today: Take an Extra 30% Off Final Sale

A big "thanks!" to many of you, including flygurl, Janet, Marietta, & Ketan, as well as Heidi (in this post), and Kristen (in this post), who let us know about another offer from J.Crew.

J.Crew is offering customers 30% off any purchase from their Summer Sale {no minimum} and free shipping (over $150 *after* discounts applied) with promo code EXTRA30. This offer is good through this Thursday, 7/29/10.

I am happy that this a-m-a-z-i-n-g offer is back online. However, if you live near a brick & mortar (B&M) store, it may be worth a visit. Although, the stock at your local B&M is probably no where near what it is online, there are better deals to be had. Just like many of you have reported, the following are some price discrepancies (before 30% off is applied too!):
  • Spots and Sparkles Cami (Item 27283; $98.00, now $49.99)— $9.99 at B&M
  • Natalia Dip-Dyed Leather Ballet Flats (Item 26277; $118.00, now $89.99)— $29.99 at B&M
  • Natalia Dip-Dyed Satin Ballet Flats (Item 26276; $118.00, now $89.99)— $29.99 at B&M
  • J.Crew Hidden Pearl Ribbon Necklace (now $19.99)— $9.99 at B&M
  • Twirled Metal and Crystal Necklace (Item 30691; $49.50)— $9.99 at B&M
  • Spring Buffalo Check Scarf (Item 23284; $42.50, now $29.99)— $14.99 at B&M
It seems like J.Crew has a lot of Summer merchandise they have to move quickly to make room for Fall.
Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Are there any sale items you are interested in getting?

  1. Seriously, I hate these crazy price discrepancies. I did not order the Natalia dip dyed flats just because it's $60 cheaper (before discount) at B&M!

I did order some CC for my daughter and some polo shirts for DH. I'm upset since JC put back the sequin ballet flats for girls to full price while the black was on sale few days ago.
Since sizing is so off these days I did not want to risk ordering Final Sale items for myself.

  2. SUCKER. Sucker. Just call me a big ol' sucker. I had a really strong feeling this weekend that extra30 was coming on, so even though something I REALLY wanted from last year popped back, I resisted!

And yes, the price discrepancies are very upsetting. Those are some HUGE differences! I'd be livid if I had no B&M near me.

But of course, like a fool, I go and place a big ol' order this morning. Very happy to be able to get a smaller size in the tailored rinse denim pencil skirt (size down, ladies, size down. i agree with those who say it runs a little big -- I think because it's cut full through the hips).

If anyone needs it in a 10, check in with me in a few days when my order arrives -- as long as my 8 shows up, the 10 will be for sale!).

So I got that suckered gingham shirt, which I LOVE, in dusty shale and wild blackberry (had to get 2 different sizes, but yay anyway), the denim pencil skirt, the tissue ruffle tank in Paris Pink and Neon Citron [both for when we hit Disney in late Sept. -- we are going to ROAST!), the linen-cotton shawl cardigan in pumic [have this in the pinky color and LOVE it), and a tee for my son.

I fear a lot of stuff isn't going to show up. Stuff is disappearing like mad, including dropping out of my cart while I was loading it up. Arrgghhh.

And of course I just spent $100 at ON late last night during *their* 30% off and free ship promo. But I'm excited to get several things due to positive customer reviews, including a white chino welt-pocket skirt and a super cute longer-silhouette denim jacket that all the reviewers went crazy for.

It isn't even 9 am yet! Law!

    :-)

  3. I really want a couple of the Victoria tissue camis but the 30% pays for shipping and tax. While still a good deal it galls me that shipping is 8.50 for a couple of shirts that can't weigh more than 8 ounces!

Oh well - need to be saving for baby anyway.

  4. Also wanted to add that when I clicked through to look at my order and saw the status was 'submitted' and then i clicked on it, a little timer showed up near the top of the screen with the # of minutes i had left to change my order! I don't think i've seen that before, but then again i usually don't look at the order right after i've submitted it. is that new?

there was also a link at the bottom of the screen that said 'cancel entire order.' i have never seen that either!

  5. Elaine,

That has been a feature for quite some time now. Close to if not going on a year now......

    ReplyDelete
  6. I bought some Crewcuts for my daughter.

If they had free shipping no minimum for women I would bite--- but I refuse to pay shipping and definitely not $150 worth of stuff after the 30% off that I need.

Would rather save my $$$ as I hate final sale.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I had a feeling this would happen, that's why I kept things in my cart all weekend and woke up this morning and hit submit! lol I am very happy with the 30% off...although some things are not coming up FS in shopping carts...no complaints.

  8. I scored the Denim Minnies @ B&M for $13.99! They we're marked as $39.99, so there must have been some additional markdowns in there somewhere (otherwise the math doesn't quite add up.) At that price I couldn't find the willpower to say no; these darn sales get me every time!

For anyone in the central NJ region, pass up the Cherry Hill B&M and definitely opt for the Marlton location- IT'S FANTASTIC.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Where can I find that "Spring Buffalo Scarf"?? Sold-out online!! Has any1 seen it at there local B&M??

    ReplyDelete
  10. I scored some popback purses last week - Bisbee Satchel & small Georgie satchel and glad I did not wait as sometimes things disappear quickly as attested to by Elaine :)

Ordered 2 pair of the Tall city-fit Super 120s classic trousers and a bling button cardi in black (you gotta get these, they're awesome!) from the promo. I'm certainly pleased!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Speaking of Super 120s, I got the cropped trousers last promo and am quite pleased! I think they're like $65 with the promo.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I ordered the Cape-Stripe underwire tank swim suit since they conveniently have my size after the swim sale is over. I also ordered the Linen-cotton V-neck pullover in bronzed clay and the
Ruffled Rainey blazer in black. I hope it fits well since it's on final sale. I've been eyeing it forever and since I recently got the Jcrew credit card I figured why not.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Here's how to save an 70% off your order. Don't order at all. It's hard to say yes to ordering more crap.

    ReplyDelete
  14. This comment has been removed by the author.

  15. Elaine, I feel you! I ordered from the Gap stores with the 30% + free ship AND JC with the discounts, so that's gotta be it for awhile for me. Not to mention the free ship at Anthro! Yikes.

With both orders, it's all stuff I know will be worn and quite good deals. A new jean jacket was $20 (ON), the Haya hoodie for $35, and the cashmere chiffon ruffle cardi, $56, for me, and lots of CC and baby and kids Gap stuff for DD. The amazing thing is not even me going overboard due to sales, it's the nigh incomprehensible fact that I avoided buying the Hockney tote or the almost-too-girly beaded bloom clutch. Will wonders never cease?

    ReplyDelete
  16. I was hoping this kind of promotion would happen and I was ready! I ordered several things I had been keeping my eye out for: The ruffled sweater vest, Impressionist pencil skirt, 7 in chino shorts(which I had ordered previously at FP and then decided to return and wait for a sale!), falling ruffles tank and fatigue shirt jacket (I think this will work well into fall) and one of the cotton caprese tunics in stone blue (runs big on me, but at 30% off, I can make it work). I'm just not ready to spend on fall items I can't wear until November (in TX). I am going back to the B&M to check out the ballet flats and see if they have some in my size for the prices mentioned here!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Tempted...but resisting! I'm trying to walk the straight and narrow for the rest of the summer. (:

    ReplyDelete
  18. I was at my local B&M (Dadeland) this weekend. I saw a few pairs of Natalia dip dyed in Tan-Rose. I didn't look to see what sizes. I was just so happy that I found the midnight ocean (blue) ones in my size for $22.

    ReplyDelete
  19. There are some deals: the Super 120's Andre Dress is a beauty for only 70 bucks. Would be nice in the fall with a cardi over.
Must resist going back to the website in the morning, you just know the sale stock will be up with popbacks etc. Must -stay-strong! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I reordered a summer dress to get the better price with the promo, and threw in a new fall shirt for the free shipping. I am done with summer clothes, I have everything I wanted. I am not even tempted with what's remaining!

For those that purchased the anchor ball necklace that was in the sale section recently, beware! I wore mine out for the first time on saturday, and not only did the chain tarnish a gross pinky salmon color, it turned my neck black! Thank god I was wearing a strapless dress, I would have been really upset if it discolored a top! Needless to say, I am bringing it back today, with major complaints. I have never had this happen with JC jewelry.

    ReplyDelete
  21. DaniBP: How does the sizing of the Andre dress run? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Mulling the Andre dress. For that price I could have the tailor stitch the neck closed or something. Of course, it's a complete crapshoot on what size to order; maybe I'll call for measurements.

Also, am I crazy or was there a CS chat function available recently on the JC website?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hmmm...tried to google some reviews on the Andre Dress and it seems like people were complaining about the low, low neckline! Adding a cami or shirt beneath may be an option, but that may not work for everyone...Hmmm, Plus it seems like at B&M was on sale for 59,99?

All of this not helping me pull the trigger...

    ReplyDelete
  24. can anyone comment on the sale selection at Northark (Dallas)?

    Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hexicon,

Yes, there's a CS chat function that randomly pops up as you're browsing the website.

    ReplyDelete
  26. For most of the wool suiting dresses I wear a silk scarf tucked inside to offset the low neckline and conceal my cleavage. The bonus is that it also provides a buffer between my skin and the wool as I am quite sensitive in that area. I like the look of a scarf much better than a cami. So easy and you don't need to worry about an extra layer.

    ReplyDelete
  27. ^ Commenting in response to the other posts about low necklines on the Andre, and other dresses, BTW.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Captain Crew, I agree that a scarf can be a good solution, especially because even a cami can suggest lingerie and that's dicey in my office. (Can I add that I work in a field that demands conservatism yet is full of perverts?)

But, I resent that it's even necessary. I accept that skirt lengths are going to fluctuate with fashion, but cleavage and big swathes of bare skin in the clavicle/bosom area are never going to be appropriate in a traditional workplace. (For example, the Caryn dress may not be low enough to show cleavage, but it bares a lot of skin.) So, why does JC keep making low-cut business attire? I used to buy two or three JC suiting dresses a year. I'm not saying they have to make everything into a turtleneck, but I wish they'd understand that we can't all wear cargo pants, sky-high heels, and sternum-baring tattered chiffon camis to the office.

    ReplyDelete
  29. newyork0311: I am taking a chance with the sizing: I ordered my usual size 2 and am crossing my fingers. Sorry I can't be more helpful!
I always love the suiting dresses, though I completely agree with Hexicon: they show too much skin! I work for myself with no perverts around (lol) so I can get away with it, not so for others I know.
I do wear a slip under my dresses, but again that is very "lingerie" and not perv-proof.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hexicon, it is unfortunate that such lovely dresses require an additional piece to be appropriately modest. It takes away from the ease and simplicity of wearing dresses, after all.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anyone know if the estella espadrilles fit TTS? I am a 7 1/2, so I am thinking of trying an 8. Is the melon color as pretty in person as it looks on my screen?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I was up late last night doing some work I should have done earlier in the weekend... and was excited to see 30% off pop up! Most of what I ordered was crewcuts - great deal on girls shorts for $9.99-minus 30%! But also scored the new Prairie paisley swimsuit for $47! They were still marked down + 30%:) Thinking about the Gabby hobo, but am concerned about how the leather will hold up to scratches...

    ReplyDelete
  33. Amy,

I would say the estella espadrilles run 1/2 to 1 size small. I am a true size 6 but the 6 was tiny on me, while the 7 fit much better. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Does anyone have the Minnie pants in Wild Blackberry colour? What colour is this, exactly? I can't tell on my monitor, and forgot to check them out in the store. TIA

    ReplyDelete
  35. Rose, the wild blackberry color is basically a navy blue. The minnies in this color are $29.99 before the extra 30% off. I saw them in my store last week and they are really nice.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Thanks, DaniBP! I hope the dress works out for you! I agree with you all...It seems a hassle having to worry about that low-neckline everytime we want to wear the dress...However, look at the bright side...At $188, it'd a serious concern for me, but $70 for a well-tailored, wool suiting dress? I think it won't be hard to make it work at that price! Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  38. imo Andre dress runs TTS. There is quite a lot of room in the chest area so go with your waist/hip measurement. The top is cut low but you can very easily pin it or stitch it up because of the pleating. I did not like it with the cardi though because the pleating creates some bulk in front and you don't see the nice tailoring which makes the dress imo. For me it was much more of going out/coctail dresss than a suiting dress. hth

    ReplyDelete
  39. Thanks, Michelle!

Also, does anyone know how the tailored denim pencil skirt fits in comparison to the ombre and the fleurette skirts? I take a 2 in those and am thinking of getting a Petite 2 just so that it is a bit shorter.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I know - crazy low necklines drive me nuts, even on the more casual summer dresses. LOL @ the office pervert discussion. I think every office has one - if not a full-on perv, then at the very least a not-so-subtle chest-looker.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anyone tried Caden wedges? Do you really have to size up if your are half size? They say that on flip flops as well but the sized up pair was too big on me.

    ReplyDelete
  42. It's good to hear all the comments on the Andre--that is why I love this site! I think AJC's notes about the pleating in front clinched it for me--if the Andre's bulk in front means that it doesn't look right with a cardi or jacket then it's a pass for me. I have the same issue with the Jayne dress from last year--I got it in the beautiful tea rose color but the drape detail in front means that it looks good only when worn on its own.

But for those who can make it work the Andre is a heck of a deal, esp. in that pretty plum color.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The Andre dress is available in every size & in every color ... usually a sign it only fits a select few. I don't think I'd be one of them - that neckline looks it'd be exposing me to all manner of lewd stares...

I almost bit and bought a prettily colored cashmere tee, but was having trouble reaching the FS mark and while doing so came to my senses and remembered why jc cashmere is on my do-not-buy list, lol. Gosh, but their colors are divine, though ...

    ReplyDelete
  44. Thanks Jackie, I ordered them in the Melon size 8, so that should be perfect. I hope they are comfortable. Oddly, again, none of my items said final sale except for an item I tried to add today, so it's all returnable. I'm not sure if it's b/c I am typically shopping at 3am that it happens, or what. I also ordered the linen detache cardigan in XS. I am usually a S, to XS. It looks cute, but if it looks old lady when I get it, going back. Tempted by another silk pockets linen cardi, but they run huge and only smalls were left in the color I want. Plus, they are SO DELICATE. Wow, the sale stuff is really getting down there. What am I going to stalk now? There's nothing left.

  45. Can anyone comment on the fit of the
Natalia Dip-Dyed Leather Ballet Flats (Item 26277)?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Rose,

I have the fleurette in a 0 and the tailored denim in a P0 so I think the P2 will be a good fit for you. Good luck!

  47. Penny: I made a review on the flats on my blog here:

  48. Hi all,
I bought a silk top online a few weeks ago and when I wore it for the first time one of the ruffles unraveled to the point the top is no longer wearable. Will I be able to return it although it's been worn once? Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Thanks so much Momoberry.I like your styling ideas. I am still not sure I can bite online. I've tried the zebra ones, and they did not work in my size. I have very flat feet.

    ReplyDelete
  50. MDPA - You should have no problems returning a defective top if you still have the receipt. I returned a pair of cargos after one month of wearing them because they developed holes around the pockets. JC associates were great and I had no issues returning them.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I admit, I have no willpower (but I DO look darn good) when it comes to purchasing J Crew clothing, shoes and accessories. Today I purchased the following:

Perfect Fit Cascade tee in Neon Rose (plan to wear with Wildcat Ombre Skirt that I purchased during the last promo)

Marina Stripe Perfect Shirt-Deep Atlantic (perfect shirts are the perfect thing to wear on mornings when you aren't sure what to wear!)

Wild Batik Cinema Short-Pewter (I love these shorts...very comfortable)

Neon Madras Short-Seaside (I have been eyeing these shorts for months because I LOVE all the neon colors J Crew is offering this summer!)

Festival Shell-Faded Black (the faded black color looks wonderful on me since it isn't quite as harsh as basic black which sometimes makes me look washed out)

Petite Flutter Fold Shell-Blush Stone (I also have this in Neon Peach...very feminine and pretty...comfortable as well)

Surf Blossom Shell-Light Citron (I got the crinkled chiffon tunic and loved the fabric...so elegant...hope I feel the same way about this top)

Fringe Tunic-Soft Petal (J Crew tunics have been my "go to" pieces this summer...I get the XS and have to shrink them, but after that they are pure heaven)

Vintage Cotton V-Neck Tee-Neon Rose (as I stated before...I am having a love affair with J Crew's neon pieces)

Featherweight Cotton Bling Button Cardi-Black (quite simply this is the perfect cardi...soft, comfortable, looks great, washes well...be sure to size UP however, as it runs somewhat small)

Shimmer Bib Tee-Quarry (plan on wearing under the paper poplin perfect shirt in orchid shadow)

    Morning Glory Art Tee-Bisque

    Watercolor Beaded Tee-Buff

Perfect Fit Ruffle Henley Tee-Abyss Blue

  52. My first comment after lurking a while and it's a question: if it doesn't say "final sale" in the shopping bag at check out, can I return? Seems so from some of the comments. Also, a tip: if you use an Amex, you have "return protection" and can return final sale items directly via Amex.

  53. I've updated my final sale guide to irl pics/reviews in this post.

  54. YES! Finally caved and am trying the Alecia suede platform peep toes. so excited the extra 30 worked on those as well!
