Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SPRING sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I stopped by the outlets this evening and they had a bunch of new stuff! Some similar styles to this season too! They had a lot of last year's items with various %offs. The clearance was packed with all sizes and had additional 40% off! I walked away with a lattice pencil skirt for only $24, a poplin blazer for $24, some pattern shorts for $18, a check scarf for $12 and the medallion print top for $18. My mom even got a metallic belt for like $3! It's definitely worth stopping by this weekend if you're near an outlet. HTH!

  2. Ashley,
Sounds like a great time. Glad you found so many nice things. No outlet near me but nice to hear about them:)

  3. Ashley, you just made my day! I am heading down to Chicago for my brother's graduation on Saturday and am making a stop at the outlet on my way there. I might have to make another stop there with my parents on the drive back to MKE for MY (!!!) graduation on Sunday! Hooray!

  4. I saw the outlet look book and was quite impressed. I got the lattice skirt as well but not for 40% off ;-( Going to try there this weekend. I still can't figure out the relationship between crewlet and retail- last week at retail almost bought the dip dye tote in purple. Later that evening at the crewlet same bag same color with retail sensor was $5 less. Fabric and styles are no longer 1-2 seasons behind. There has been a dress similar to the Lorelei (solids and prints) there since spring- now about $35.

  5. As usual, I will probably do a roll-by, just to see if I can snag the sunshine peony skirt in my size for $39.99. My store is still showing it at $64.99. WTF? I'm also hoping to find the vintage bateau tee in the camel color at some point. Other than that, I'll peruse the new arrivals, but I won't buy. I spent ~ $500 during last week's sales, so that will tide me over for a while!

Also, I WANT TO GO TO AN OUTLET. lol. Closest one is 4 hours away in any one of 3 directions. Boooooo.

  6. Wait wait wait, outlet lookbook? What is this, and where is it? Info please! TIA!

  7. Oh and FYI: the blazer I bought for $24 is a direct copy of the liberty print poppy floral blazer from a while back.

    Here's a pic:

such a deal! Ontario mills has a bunch of them in all sizes if you're interested! Hth!

  8. PTO prep: Sometimes you can find retail items at an outlet store, although I never know the reason why some items make it there and some do not. There was a whole rack of retail denim minnies at my outlet last week. I've also found a retail Sanur dress and boyfriend chinos at my outlet. Everything else is made especially for the outlet but oftentimes the prints and items are similar to that of retail. It's hit or miss.

Whenever I visit an outlet, I do a quick scan of everything and look for the tell-tale absence of the 2 diamonds under the "jcrew" tag. :)

Ashley: Sounds like you found some great stuff! The outlet medallion top is so cute.

  9. Ashley - way to go! I might have to check out our crewlet since I'm only about 20 minutes away.

I'm doing a private shopping party with a bunch of my friends and the one girl's personal shopper tomorrow AM. I'm pretty excited. We get 20% our purchase if we spend more than $125, which never seems to be much of a problem for me haha. I'm thinking about trying on the Frankie dress (item 26571), even though I have absolutely no reason to have it. The last store I was at had the orange one styled adorably with the Fiore cotton cardigan (item 25696). I also want to grab a pair of the neon madras shorts. I'm loving the bright neon colors the crew has had out this season! I was getting sick of the drab grey/burnt orange color palette.

Anyone have the luxe terry bloomer shorts? I want to try those, but I'm afraid my legs might not look very good in them because of the band at the bottom of each leg. Are they loose or pretty snug?

  10. I've never heard of Outlet Lookbook...I'd love to get one.
If only DH wasn't sick I'd be going to the outlet for that lattice pencil skirt and blazer.
    Wow, great score, Ashley!

Elain, I bought the Sunshine Peony skirt on Wednesday (someone had returned it) and it wast still ringing up to $64.99. All the other watercolor pencil skirts were $39.99 (pastiche, and purple one). I too had thought it was that same price but SA insisted it was the price ringing up. Do you know which store had it for $39.99? Maybe they can do a price match?

Pretty much the same old tees, plenty of cargo pants, some dip dyed shorts, linen wrap cardigan (but I realized these are so prone to holes!).

  11. I will go to J.Crew this weekend... and am soon moving to a town that is 10 minutes from a Crewlet! I am so excited. The crewlet poppy floral jacket is indeed an excact copy of last year's. I tried in on a couple months ago, and loved it but didn't want to pay even $60 for something that is basically as thin as a shirt.

The retail stuff that shows up at the outlet is always in the sale section, in my experience... which makes it a steal. I have gotten several of the more "out there" collection items at the crewlet for like, 90% off original price.

  13. Ashley,

You think you could show a pic of the medallion print top? Also, does it run TTS? TIA

  14. Would love to hear more outlet updates!! They are so hit or miss! It's hard to know when to go so it's worth the trip - it's a hour away so kind of a time committment

bought the sunshine peony skirt today for $39.99. Rang up $64.99 and I asked if the sa could call new haven ct (it was the only one I could remember but alexis' post store out in my mind fortunately!) to confirm the price. The call turnded into such a long ordeal with a new sa who had to ask how to do everything (we've all been in his shoes!) and then an endless hold that finally the mgr approved the price. So definitely ask your store to match another stores price. It is ridiculous they aren't the same to begin with.

Also bough the dressy jresey ruffle dress (pretty sure that isthe name) and FINALLY!! a JCree jersey dress for those of us with breasts. Would have bought every color but don't like heather grey. Dark pewter is divine - wearing it out tonight!! Happy shoppig everyone!!

  16. I have been quite lucky with the outlet(s) near me. Just scored retail cashmere cardigans from Spring 08 for under $45 but not sure if it is part of the cashmere problem.

AppGal- I get the 2 diamond stuff ( I do the same scan for non diamond merchandise ;-) ) but do they use the same manufacturer for the clothes and why do they mimic retail so closely? I was really surprised by the tote selling in both retail and crewlet on the same day. My crewlets are both about than 20 minutes from retail stores.

Sorry to get everyone excited - The lookbook is not published but at the counter at the crewlet more to show the store set up but had styled outfits for mannequins but individual shots which I found easier to look at especially as some mannequins wind up on the topmost shelves.

    Happy Shopping!

  17. does anyone who has been to the outlets lately know if the silk garland cami is on sale? i missed out on the item in stores and would love to score one--especially if it's cheaper!

  18. I can't believe size 2 and 4 in the wildcat ombre pencil skirt sold out online. I called my local B&M and thank goodness they had one in my size (last one there) so rushed over to buy it along with the chambray barbara dress (27042)$78 - its a dark pink color with embroidered (grey and white thread)bell shaped sleeves and bottom ruffle.

  19. You all are too funny talking about the outlets!!! I went to the very newest one last night with drewablank (the Potomac Mills one) and when I had some time today, I went ahead and snapped some photos of the gorg new arrivals. :)

    Here is the link:
    http://mysuperfluities.blogspot.com/2010/05/yummy-new-j-crew-outlet-items.html

P.S. My outlet is so new there are no poppy floral jackets!!! The one I bought last year is now WAY TOO big and I need to replace it with one from the outlet. LOL. I would 100% be willing to pay cost of item, plus shipping, plus a little something something (you know for helping me out) if any of you see one in a size 4! :) If no one can, it's cool, but if someone is able, awesome!!! My e-mail is dinagideon AT aim DOT com.

Having said all that--is there a way to buy it over the phone and have it shipped? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Dinagideon, I have done charge sends over the phone with the outlets several times. I live no where near an outlet so if someone reported a great find I had to have, I'd call. It helps if you know exactly what to tell them to look for - description and item number. They don't seem to know their stock very well in my experience. Shipping was usually something in the $7 range. HTH.

  21. Went to B&M by me today (Friday) and had to return some items, but scored some great skimmer pants in gray for $44.00. My mom also found some great Metallic mesh flip flops (she paid for the full price gold ones using my student discount) but the silver are marked down to $14.99.
I saw the fade-out sailor tee in gold and I was in love! I love that shade of gold and I blame it all on my Marsala flats! However when I got closer I saw why they call it fade-out! More like just a giant gap of print is missing in the bottom front corner of the top (which is not shown in the picture online) It looked awkward to me and I was so sadly disappointed. It reminded me a lot of the Vintage Bateau tops which I loooove! Oh well, maybe if I tuck in it wouldn't be as bad to me. Would love to know what you all think about it!

    ReplyDelete
  22. dinagideon..

Yes, the outlets will ship to you... have done it before :) Good luck. I'm going to mine today. If I see a 4, I will put it on hold and email you.

  23. Desert Flower and millcrew:

    Awesome info!!! I 100% appreciate it. :)

I think I will give Ontario Mills a call later, as that is the outlet that has a lot left, but I will wait until after I hear back from millcrew, as one on hold is a lot easier for the associates to find.

LOL at the comment that the staff doesn't know the stock as well as we do, that is so accurate! I don't think they go home and spend many hours looking at the catalogs and website...although I know there are at least a couple of SAs who are as obsessed...they are usually the ones that rush up to me and go "OMG, I love that ____bag, it goes so well with your ____Capri sandals and your _____cardigan."

Thanks again, and millcrew, thanks for extending the offer to me!!!

  24. I stopped by the B&M and the outlets yesterday -- they are only 15 minutes apart from one another.

I tried the Starfish print dress at the B&M. Wow, is it tiny! I'm a true 0 in J.Crew dresses and the size that fit me best for this dress was a 4!! I couldn't even zip up the 0. Not sure what they were thinking! I really love the print, but it is short (even the 4), so I bought it, but not sure if I'm going to keep it.

I had better luck at the outlets. They have some really pretty prints as others have mentioned. I got two scarves -- one in the medallion print and one in the regal paisley print (this print was a swim-only print last year). I also got a cute a-line skirt in the regal paisley print and a pencil skirt in the blue ikat print (which only came in a dress last year). Also bought a cute beaded bracelet.

For those of you close to a crewlet, it maybe worth a trip :)

    HTH!!

  25. Just back from my b&m. I have several loves: the ikat skirt (TTS), the sequin necklace tank (sized down), the sequin falls cardi (TTS), the piped and twisted pocket cardi (TTS), summerweight shorts in a lovely teal color (sorry, too lazy to go get the receipt upstairs :D) (TTS). I hated the gingham blazer (TTS). It was really bad on me - maybe smaller chested women will be okay? My ps said it looked like a 70's flight attendant. :) The sale had tons of tees, a few random cardis, jackets, and pants, a certain colors in the scout cropped pants. I would have loved to have bought all of my favorites, but I planned to choose one item and went with two: the sequin necklace tank and teal shorts.

    ReplyDelete
  26. math teacher,

I am planning on ordering the gingham blazer. What is so bad about it? Flight attendant? Really sounds harsh? Never seen a flight attendant in gingham.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Genny, I tried on my regular JC jacket size and when I buttoned it, it kind of splayed open at my chest while creating wrinkles that came out sideways from my chest. I have no idea if that makes any sense. The gingham is really small - I walked by the jacket twice, finally asked my ps if they got it and he had to point it out to me. The fabric is cute, but the fit didn't work for me. And, I've never seen a flight attendant in gingham either; not sure where that comment came from. :) HTH

    ReplyDelete
  28. math teacher,
Thanks that helps a lot. I was going to order my regular size after getting measurements from CS. Is the fabric nice at least or did you think not worth it?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Genny, I thought the fabric was nice and it is lined. I hope you love it and that it fits you well.

    ReplyDelete
  30. OT: Gap b&m stores have a buy one, get one free sale on all men's and women's tops and shirts this weekend. The sale includes their new flowered (faux liberty) print shirts. The prints are very cute and I saw several colors in store that are not available online. Unfortunately the shirts are "boyfriend fit" so they're loose and boxy, not fitted. I tried sizing down, and the body of the shirt looked great, but the sleeves were kind of tight, so that didn't work for me. If you have thin arms, that might be an option.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hi math teacher and Genny - there was talk in another post about the gingham blazer being partially lined... do you recall that being the case? I'm not a fan of partially lined blazers.

    ReplyDelete
  32. silver lining, I remember there being lining in the top back. Since it was not good on me, I didn't inspect it. Just got it off as quickly as possible. I noticed the lining b/c when I hung it back on the hanger, I got it caught on one side. There are like 2 flaps of a liner across the back - I've never seen anything like it. I don't remember for sure if the rest was lined, but I think so.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think the online description says partially lined. I wish and/or hope it is fully lined but if not will be cooler to wear in summer. May have to call and ask before I order.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thank you both! Yeah, the 2 flaps are considered the partial lining, so I'll probably pass on this one at FP.

    ReplyDelete
  35. If anyone is still looking for the watercolor all cotton cardi, the Somerset Collection has a bunch in XS-L, for $59.99. (I can't remember the actual name, it's the floral that's mostly purple.) Sale was mainly racks and racks, ENTIRE WALLS, really, of tees. I'm always bummed when I make the journey out there and come home empty handed. Sounds like I should have hit up the outlets instead!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Stopped by my B&M to make some returns and before going i swore i wasn't going to get anything, BUT, the sale section was overflowed and they were having an additional 25% off on all sale items (final sale though). I ended up getting the zebra stripe skirt for $30, watercolor garden cardi, tie-dyed wednesday skirt for something like $37, the sequin slouchy collection tank also $37, linen charter skirt, and a tee. So much for self restraint haha. They had lots of the printed pencil skirts, mini skirts, sweaters, zipper matchstick pants, faded mini's, and lots and lots of t's. I tried on some new items but nothing really i had to have, so i'll wait for a sale. The store was super busy and I overheard the SA's saying it felt like christmas Lol. They also said it one of the stores getting all the sale items. BTW, the store was the one in Brea, CA. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I am going to order the gingham blazer. My grea PS is helping me out a bit with a discount as I had several HUGE JCrew screwups lately. I don't mind the partial lining. Sounds fine to me:) for coolness factor AND IT IS MACHINE WASHABLE. YEAH.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Lots of tees, printed watercolor cardigans, and printed shorts on sale at the b&m i visited this weekend.

I saw the painted silk Bridget dress and thought it was cute if a little on the thin side. It seems to be quite popular because only two sizes were left. The painted print is so pretty. I would love to see it in other pieces.

I took some pics of the new releases and posted them on my blog.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Just back from my b&m. I found Watercolor garden pencil skirt sold only for $9.99!!! Although it is non-returnable, it is an absolute steal at this price:)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Naomi: can I ask which B&M and did they have any left?

    ReplyDelete
  41. jcrewphd:
The shop is Carmel CA (Tel: 831 624 2803). Several garden skirts were left; size 2 for sure, maybe size 6, 10, and 12(???). HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Namomi,
Amazing price. Is that store a big clearance, sale store?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Genny: my B&M is just a normal J.Crew shop (not factor outlet). I just happened to find this skirt in the sales section. Actually, the garden skirts had been at sales section for a wile: the price was $59.99 two weeks ago and $39.99 last week. And finally it was marked down to $9.99. The SA told me it was non-returnable. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  44. @ Naomi: Thank you! I called and they didn't have my size left. Thanks though. :-D

    ReplyDelete
  45. Naomi,
Thanks for letting me know. I paid about $80 for mine. You are very lucky indeed! Congrats. I wear a 10and thought about calling but sometimes have to let it go. If you see any other great deals in the future be sure to post! I will call and order from that store:) Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Genny: I understand your feeling; the cardigan I purchased at full price last year was marked down to almost 1/10 during the winter sales:( But sometimes we can benefit from other good deals. So I will post here for you if I find other great deal!
