Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SPRING sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Yes, I am going. I have about 15 items to return from orders over the past 3 months--I kept 9 items from those orders that I really LOVE. I rarely have time to shop so it will be returns and a quick look around:)but looking forward to it.

  2. OT: Talbots fans: The Cheif Creative Officer will be on Oprah today doing 10 makeovers of O readers. I never did watch Jenna on Oprah but I am really excited about this one!

  3. I was in last weekend to make a return, and I placed a big online order yesterday after the new items were released. I won't be going in this weekend. Last weekend I scored the zebra tunic on the sale rack. The majority of sale was various tees and a small number of watercolor and peony skirts.

If anyone sees any of the new items IRL, such as the canterbury skirt or cardigan, I would love a report.

  4. Yes, I am going this weekend and haven't been to a store in a couple of months. I sadly did not see anything online in the new arrivals that I even liked but maybe I will find some sale items. I have LOTS to return as well from online orders just within the 60 days.

  5. I was in yesterday to make several returns. A lot of the new arrivals were out, and I have to say that once again many of them actually look better IRL than they do online. This continues to surprise me because it used to be the other way around. The sale section was PACKED FULL...tons of tees, shorts, grand ruffle shells, caprice jackets, denim minnies, as well as the other usual suspects.

Genny: I just blogged about Talbots being on Oprah today along with reviews of a couple pieces I recently ordered from them. I'm definitely watching the Oprah segment today. :)

  6. I have a bunch of returns boxed up and ready to send back from Canada. Just waiting for two packages that are "out for delivery" today, in case any of those items don't work out.

Like you Genny, I am returning most of what I bought lately and keeping less than half the items. It seems they are either poor quality for the price, similar to something I already have or the style/fit/color is a lot different than it appears in the catalog and online. This is a big change for me as I used to buy a lot and have so few returns I would wait and send them together once every quarter. I just sent a big box of returns last month and now have a bunch more.

Desert Flower, I'm curious what you liked from the new arrivals since I didn't see much other than the new pencil skirts.

  7. I might pop in quickly this weekend but has anyone noticed the skirts and dresses fitting smaller from this past release(late spring/summer)? I recently tried on the Eyelet Pencil Skirt, Gilded Jacquard Pencil Skirt, and Rugby Strip Ginny dress and I had to size up in all from my normal J.Crew size.

  8. I picked up the Crystal Milano necklace in the pale oak colour when I was in the states last week, and I LOVE it. I've been wanting a necklace with bit of sparkle and this one fits the bill. It's chunky and substantial enough to wear by itself without being mammoth, but it's also small enough to layer with other pieces. Love the pink/gold combination!

  9. xoxo,
May I ask how many orders and items you send at once? I have a lot like Genny does... I was seriously thinking about packing mine up and mailing to save me a wait in line and allow me more fun shopping time. I just wonder about confusing the poor return team with multiple orders and items. Thanks for any input.

  10. Genny and Fabulous Florida Mommy: I just received several orders from Talbots that I placed during their 20%off promo last month. I love the pencil skirts that I ordered and am impressed with the quality of their cashmere. I bought several cashmere sweater sets and the colors are quite lovely. Although I am sized out (the petite 0 is still too large for me), I love some of the prints and styles so much, I have just resolved myself to the fact that I will have to get things altered. The same is true for much of the J.Crew items I purchase. I am looking forward to the Oprah show today! Have a nice weekend everyone!
FFM: I love when you review Talbots on your blog.

  11. xoxo,
Yes, I understand about the returning of more than keeping as a newer event in my life with JCrew. I used to be the same like you--kept a lot more. Now poor quality and just not liking the item or not being wowed by it is making me return items. (I was esp. disappointed in the Liberty fabric cardigan quality for the price.)

    FFM,

Will go over to your blog and take a look at your Talbots post. I just rediscovered them as I used to shop there in the 90's a lot but quite around 2001 or so.

  12. Stella,
I have a cardigan sweater on backorder from Talbots due around 5/11 so cannot wait for it.

  13. XOXO, the one item I knew I wanted from the new release was the silk cargo dress. I ordered that in the honey color. I was going to order the canterbury bell skirt but 21" is too short for me. I also got some of the new linen suiting (I live in a hot climate so I wait all year for the linen and cotton suiting!). Then I ordered a fair amount from the last release because I had a 20% off code in my catalogue. I got the v-neck cotton cardi in the lynx pattern, in black and in natural, the perfect fit boatneck tee in white and vintage orange, the victoria ruffle cami in navy, blush and spicy olive and a few more things I'm not recalling at the moment!

On the matter of Talbot's, I took an chance and ordered the eyelet pencil skirt last night. I used the 20% off code, plus I had 10% off for my birthday month promo. I ordered it in the smallest size available, I hope it works!

    ReplyDelete
  14. By the way, the silk cargo dress is not my preferred length either, but my personal shopper said there is a good size hem on it and I plan to have it taken down.

    ReplyDelete
  15. OT: I believe there was a post (by egyptomanic) about a free canvas tote with any Land's End Canvas purchase. I got the code and pin but how do you get the free tote added to your order and/or which tote is it? Anyone? Thanks:)

    Code: MODERN
    pin 9281

If anyone wants free shipping:) will repost the above codes.

  16. I'd love to get something from J. Crew, but their summer tops are a bit flimsy for me. J. Crew has become a fall and winter store for me. Right now, I'm sticking with Ann Taylor, Talbots, and the Ralph Lauren website.

  17. i will if i have time ... i have 1 dinky thing to return. will try not to buy anything unless i see something super awesome on sale. happy weekend, ladies!! happy mother's day to my fellow mamas too. :-)

  18. I don't know how much I'll get done this weekend, but I have returns for JC, BR and Talbots.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Desert Flower: I have the eyelet skirt in navy from Talbots and really like it. In fact, of all the pencil skirts I ordered from Talbots, it is the one I did not have to have altered. I think it runs a little small.

  20. 15% off Ralph Lauren promo code for anyone who wants it: MAY0610

  21. Ugh. No I will not. I just washed a new spring Jackie and some favorite tanks and there is a hole developing in the neckline of the Jackie and two of my favorite tanks PILLED. They're 100% cotton. How does cotton pill? I'm so annoyed and understand the shopping bans everyone else is going on. I use mild detergent and cold water so what's the deal?

  22. Summer, I've sent as many as 10 orders worth of stuff at once. If you keep everything relatively neat (same item bags, return forms, etc.) your return gets processed really quickly. I've shipped via UPS (which is awesome with the prepaid return label, I just drop it at my local UPS store) on a Monday, JC receives it on Wednesday and usually processes it that day, then the credit shows on my card by Friday. For me it is SO much more convenient than driving to the store, and waiting in line for the returns to be processed. Plus, the last couple of times I actually did go to the store their systems were down so I'd have to leave my merch there and they'd process the returns the following day... another big pain! So I'd just rather deal with .com and bypass the B&M altogether.

Desert Flower and Stella, I got the Talbots eyelet skirt and LOVE it! I got the yellow and found it to be perfectly spring-y. Will probably go back for the white one soon. :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Stella and Silver Lining, I am happy to hear great feedback about the Talbot's eyelet skirt! I can't wait to get mine. FFM gave me some great styling ideas for it that I'm excited to try. I ordered the yellow, I already have the J. Crew eyelet skirt from last year in navy.

  24. This blog I read has a (short) list of JCrew items washed and dryed and what happened to them...

  25. Holy cow. I just was able to stack 4 different codes on gap.com and got the price of the shrunken schoolboy blazer down to $62 w/free ship! Now THAT is how you do it! (one of the codes was a $10 rewards card -- but still!)

  26. Summer, I have returned items from at least a dozen orders at once, including items that my husband ordered in his name, although I put them in a separate brown bag with their return slip inside the big box of returns.

As silver_lining posted, keep everything neat and in order and it should be no problem. I put items back in the original plastic and put all the return slips together with the returned items highlighted on each order. The only issue I ever had was something that I wanted to exchange for was sold out so they sent an email saying they were refunding instead.

Some of my returns used to be quite old as I did it only once a quarter and I received gift cards instead of a refund if over 60 days from the ship date. Unfortunately since they were different orders there was a separate gift card for each but easy enough to use them anyway.

Desert Flower I have the silk cargo dress in my cart, it looks like it will be really comfortable. Although I'm on the tall side at 5'9", I still wear 21" skirts in the summer so I'm considering the Canterbury Bells skirt but may just buy another double-serge cotton pencil instead of the printed version. I'm always worried the prints could look dated very fast.

  27. Genny --> I placed an order from Lands End Canvas the other day and just got the shipping confirmation. The tote bag (which I didn't even know about) was automatically added to my invoice, so you don't have to do anything in your actual LE order to get it. I was very surprised and pleased by that little bonus!

  28. xoxo & DesertFlower --> Please post a review of the silk caro dress when/if you get it. It's the one item of the new rollout that I like and would love to know what others think before I order it.

  29. Just scrolled through all the new arrivals and I must admit, I feel nothing. Nothing. I may actually be able to avoid the store for a while! Nothing feels new or fresh to me. Even basically re-issuing the supernova necklace and calling it something else ... laaaaaaaame.

It's just as well. Not like I don't have more clothing than I could wear in my lifetime anyway.

    I welcome the breather! :-)

  30. I won't be going this weekend. Happy shopping!

If anyone sees the Applique Art Tee (25138) in a Medium or Large please put them on hold for me. My mom saw mine and wants one, too. Thanks!

  31. Don't know if else anyone got an individualized code in their May catalog, but my 20% off code worked with the 20% off and free ship on knits today. It made trying out some of the knit dresses seem worth it!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I broke my ban on J. Crew for this month already :'(. I ordered the Jessie cotton dress and Softspun cotton cardigan that are 20% off on the current promo. Yesterday I bought the Linen Carter skirt in black and the Tailored Linen pencil skirt (item 25565) in orange sorbet at the B&M. Both skirts are very cute! I think I won't be visiting this weekend =p.

I'm also stalking the Golden Swirl Dress online - I have a feeling it won't look right on me, but it's still a pretty dress to look at :).

  33. I have been looking for the Neapolitan cardigan or pencil skirt for a while and of course, the day I found them in my size, they sold out online.

If anyone sees, or has the Neapolitan cardigan in a small or the pencil skirt in a size 4 or 2 please let me know.

  36. I don't plan to go this weekend, but I do have a return to make the next time I go. I bought an in-store only beaded tee in neon coral that is so pretty, but the beads are just too heavy for the material, and it's a thicker knit. I have to keep readjusting b/c the beads cause the shirt to "sit" on my chest - not a pretty look! :D

    ReplyDelete
  37. Also if anyone knows the name of the cardigan in this picture, sees it in stores, or has one to sell in a size small please let me know. I fell in love with it.

It is a pink/coral with roses around the neck and top part of the cardigan.

  38. I'd love to know how ya'll are styling the Cozumel (or should I say---flowered mosaic) tunic. I have it in champagne and it is beautiful....but sheer and lowcut! I'm going to the beach this weekend and would like to know how to wear it!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Has anyone worn or seen any of the tailored linen suiting pieces? The pencil skirt looks nice but I'm curious how wrinkle-prone it is.

    ReplyDelete
  40. A relatively unrelated comment - I received the luxe terry bloomer shorts in faded black last week and I'm CRAZY about them. They're actually very flattering (I'm a size 6, on the thin side and ordered a medium) and they definitely dress up with normal shoes and a sweater (I wore with the Long beach cardigan). I even wore them to go out at night last weekend.
I remember commenters being very skeptical about these but I really think they look good, and are soooo comfortable to boot!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Meghan - I think that is the merino rose corsage cardigan with the "petals" of the roses folded back so they don't sit so wilted looking. It looks like it's the vintage rose color. They are sold out now but you can still see the description online http://tiny.cc/w7d5s

    Good luck with your search.

  42. I went by today and they were just about to put out a few new arrivals, including the Canterbury Bells MINI skirt. I saw the pencil skirt online and may still get it but I like the mini. The material is cotton and is a basket-weave. It feels a little like tweed but, of course, isn't. Also, it is lined. I don't think I've ever seen their mini skirts lined. I'll have an IRL pic up tomorrow.

  43. I was wondering if anyone had seen the Roxie Ruffle Cardigan ($148.00 item 25858) IRL? It looks cute online and on the model but I am afraid that might be the only place that it looks good.

    Any thoughts on this one?

  44. Went to the B & M in Florida and there were no new arrivals. Really nothing in the store exciting. More T-shirts which right about now I am sick of.... I did see the Jaspe Sequin Sweatshirt and after reading sooo much about it, I was really disappointed. I guess in summer, in Florida, I just wasn't feeling it :) But if anyone is looking for them, the Boca Raton J. Crew had plenty.

  45. Stopped in my B&M yesterday and had to have the En plein air scarf in golden beach- very fun print!

I also received an order yesterday with the Dolce Cable Knit sweater (item #20683) $19.99 and I believe a hidden sale item?? I LOVE it and mihgt have to order another.

  46. Although Friday is technically not the weekend, I did buy a couple sun-dried Oxford shirts in all colors but mango and yellow, so I have to keep looking. Also purchased a belt and a st. thomas shirt. Although I don't care for workwear, I'm thinking about buying the nailhead oxford utility shirt.

Oh why is it that I buy so many clothes yet my closet still looks the same

  56. Twiga I received my 19.99 Dolce cable and shawl colllar sweaters too. LOVE the cable, the antique rose color is pretty and it looks handknit. A great hiddden find. The shawl collar went back today it is GIGANTIC in XS. How many pins did they have to use to get an XS to fit the model like that in the photo?
