New Arrivals Expected at J.Crew Soon {wahoo!}

A big "thanks!" to many of you, including MCC, kitsmommy, math teacher (in this post), who shared the following {great} news with us: the next roll-out for new arrivals is expected to hit stores on September 15th!

Although I like the current Fall items, I am excited to see what additional new items are slated for J.Crew's Fall collection. For the most part, I tend to favor the items from the Fall collection more than any of the other seasons. Moreover, some JCAs have mentioned that the latest Fall collection didn't "wow" them, so maybe the next roll-out will. :)

Are you looking forward to the next set of Fall arrivals? Will you visit a brick & mortar (B&M) store to check it out?

  1. Ohhh yay, I love fall arrivals! Is it strange that I'm really excited about wearing jackets, coats, and tights and it's still 90 degrees here?

  2. Very excited to see their new arrivals. I love how they've been mixing polished, preppy pieces with slouchy, vintage-bedecked items. Very Sartorialist!

  3. Big warning on the Pleated Lombardi Ruffle cardigan. I ordered both colors and was so excited. Well they arrived and there was brown discoloration all along the edging of the ruffle on the grey one, like a brown staining about 1/4". It was really prominent. I was afraid the guava one would get that way as well, so I returned them both and when the SA saw the guava one, she pointed out that it had similar discoloration just not as bad. She called corporate as she felt it was a quality issue (her words) and they told her, no, the sample had that as well and it was likely due to the laser cut edges on the ruffle. She told them okay but they should probably expect some returns as it is not visible online or in the catalog. So, fair warning on Lombardi. And that ruffle does not look silk to me. It looks like cotton IMHO.

  4. I think the web description of the Lombardi says the ruffle is cotton lawn.

  5. Erin, I noticed that too, they changed it, before, it said silk naponi (?) or something like that. It even said it a few hours ago because the SA read it out loud and agreed it didn't look like silk to her either.

  6. I think the edges on the lombard cardi are supposed to look brown to make it look vintage? All the ones I saw in the store are like that.

    ReplyDelete
  7. If you know the edges are going to have a brown discoloration and you like that, it's no problem at all. I just didn't know and I personally didn't find that appealing. I wouldn't fault anyone else that liked it but, for me, it felt like I would be wearing a sweater with brown stains. If they add a close up photo of the ruffle so customers can see that, it would be really helpful. I don't pay J. Crew shipping lightly :)

  8. Boo, boo and boo for the silk on the Lombardi being cotton lawn and not silk dupioni.

  9. It seems like jcrew is so out of ideas. Maybe Jenna needs a new team of designers to help spruce things up! I haven't felt the urge to get anything this Fall...which is usually my favorite season. Boo.

  10. I am looking forward to the Holiday rollout and a change in the color palette. Fall 1 was better than Fall 2 rollout, I have purchased some much needed basic pieces and took a chance on a couple of others (cashmere) and some tees (hoping there are no holes in these ones).

    ReplyDelete
  11. It will be great to see some new pieces added. I think this rollout is supposed to be another smaller one with the larger Fall/Holiday rollout to arrive in stores late October...that's what one of the store managers told me last weekend.

  12. I am excited as always to see new arrivals but have been very disappointed lately. There are items I like but the color choices are not ones I need more of or like. I have only bought 3 items so far from both rollouts! Unheard of for me!

  13. Laura - I also had issues with the Lombard cardi - except that the ruffles on mine weren't laser-cut at all, they were frayed. And ITA that the ruffles are not made from silk habotai, like the description says. I have a pic on my blog: Click here.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Erin and Laura: OMG they DID change the web description! Yesterday it definitely said silk habotai, because I copied and pasted it to my blog!

    SNEAKY :(

Well my edges still are not laser cut. I wonder if they will change that soon too :P

  15. well, i'm generally excited about new rollouts, but can i go OT for just a moment and rant about jc's inventory control?!

this summer i've received less then 4 wrong items--the plastic says the item i ordered, but in the plastic is something entirely different--not even a wrong size, but literally i've rec'd pencil skirts when i ordered a cami! don't ya think they should notice that when they pack the bag?!

i also had 5 item cancellations--all for the same item but at various times! it's almost a joke at this point...i've been trying to order my daughter the same crewcuts item that popbacks (well, 5 times this summer!) occasionally--clearly they don't have that item b/c everytime i recieve a day or 2 later the 'news about your jcrew order' email.

but today i'm really incensed! as some of you might have noticed on the past few 'looking to find' posts, i'm desperately in love with the lace tiered cami and searching high and low for it! well, yesterday it popped back in a size 0 and i was over the moon! ordered it immediately! (literally, i think i ordered it the second it became available--i happened to be online around 5am and it wasn't available but kept was waiting for the sale page to update so kept refreshing that page and boom--size 0 came up and i placed order immediately--it went back to 'we're sorry but this item is so popular...' right after i placed my order)

somehow i just had a bad feeling about the order though and sure enough woke up to that dreaded email this morning--'we're sorry. we wish we made enough'...grrrrrrr!
i'm so angry! i've been understanding with all my popback screw-ups, but shouldn't they have a better hold on the inventory of $795 limited edition items?! i was hoping they'd be a bit more serious and controlled about those orders!

gah..i'm livid! been searching endlessly for the lace cami--it popping online was my best bet yesterday and now i'm pretty sure it's a lost cause.

how can we push the message across to JC to hone up on their inventory measures? granted, i shop online ALOT (you might say i'm a bit of compulsive shopper, but that's another story :)) so screw ups are more likely to occur for me, esp for all the sale/popback stuff i like to get. but for goodness sakes, an order for a $795 top should not be messed up! i order online all the time from various shops and jcrew is the only one that screws it up! babygap once sent the wrong size to me and they were so flabergasted, they immediately offered me 10% off my entire next order--no offer from JC customer service this AM.

so sorry for this tirade--i just didn't know who to vent to!

now back to regularly scheduled business!

  16. I am super excited about the next rollout. I am hoping for some great sweaters and I want to try those wool shorts, so I hope they are in stores!

I do wonder how long it will be until the next rollout since this one seems rather quick considering the last one was just a couple of weeks ago.

  17. One of the boards I frequent just had a post about the fiona jackets. Someone typed in fiona in to the crew's search box and A LOT are available!!! Just in time for actual fiona weather! I may need that Mediterranean blue one after all. :)

  18. I always look forward to new pencil skirts. My personal shopper told me that in October there will be some, not sure if they will show up in this mid-September roll out. I'm looking forward to the blue tweed, they're calling it the Sapphire tweed. There will also be a grey and black tweed called the Oona skirt.

Stef, I'm sorry to hear your cami got canceled!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I am looking forward to some new skirts and hoping for some different colors. I am tired of the washed out, faded look they have been going with lately.

Also, I think the current coats are very bland compared to the last two fall rollouts. I remember getting the Paris catalog and wanting one of each in every color! I am defitely hoping for some new coats.

    ReplyDelete
  20. ooh, thanks for the heads up on the 2 new pencil skirts--lace cami mess aside, i still love me some tweed pencils!

sigh, sorry again all for the super long rant--still frustrated but much calmer! i'll continue my hunt for the cami and in the meantime look forward to the upcoming rollouts...man, j crew really has me hooked!

  21. I stopped in my B&M yesterday and there were some new items in the store. I saw some skinny leather studded belts in black, lime, orchid color, brown, gray...all with gold studs on them. Very cute! I will try to post a pic later.

  22. DesertFlower,
I'm also looking forward to the blue tweed pencil skirt (or any new pencil skirts.
Thanks for posting info about Oona tweed.
Can’t wait to try it on.

  23. i'm disappointed that j crew hasn't had their "additional 30% off final sale" items yet. last year, they had already had it in august! i wonder if they're going to do it this year?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm definitely excited to see the new arrivals when they come out. I didn't buy anything with the recent rollouts so I'm hoping to see something that will grab me this time.

Fall is definitely my favorite season too. I love sweaters, scarves and jackets!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I can't wait for the new roll out. I am more of a Fall/Winter person, so I tend to buy more items during those seasons. I am very excited!

  26. MCC, I grabbed a sweet potato Fiona for about $51 last month, as well as last year's Plaza coat for $80 (as far as I could tell it's the same as this year's version, which is on the site for $325). If you search "jacket" you'll find a few gems from last year at great prices.

Shoot, I want a 20% off coupon code. Even though JC has dropped some prices (e.g., $188 peplum jacket compared to $230 FP on Lizza jacket) it is really hard for me to pay FP knowing that some JC customers are getting 15/20% discounts and that other retailers are offering better coupon codes.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Who knows when/if there will be a discount. Mickey is on a mission to be a full price and not a sale or discount brand. Remember he has made numberous statements regarding this lately and their stock levels are in line (compared to last years when they had excess)and their stock is up.....I wouldn't hold my breath...

  29. Leana,

Go for it! Some of their stuff is so cute. I wish I could fit into it:) Cheers!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Wow there is already a lot from the first rollout (August) in the sale section!!! None of it looks that appealing to me but if this is a sign of things to come I may not make many purchases until November or December once the October rollout goes on sale.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I am always excited to see J.Crew's new arrivals! I just hope (like always) they have some new offering in their petites section!

I also hope to see the denim jacket I have been eyeing back in stock!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Can't wait to see the new stuff. Can. Not. Wait!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Leanna, my 2 cents on wearing crewcuts: I'd be careful esp with final sale. I'm 5'4" 100lbs and while the shrunken look can be cute, a lot of the CC items are cut differently - not a lot of room for even a A cup. Things don't really lay correctly on an adult.

I can wear the minis but they are very short : )

Also some of the details are kids-clothes-ish (as they should be I guess!) eg plasticey buttons, seams showing. HTH!

  34. Has anyone heard when the new arrivals might be available online? I'm going on vacation for a week starting on Saturday and don't want to spend all my money if the new arrivals will be online soon. I unfortunately live nowhere near a B&M.

    ReplyDelete
  35. hi leanna, in regards to wearing crewcuts, i've noticed that they run small as it is. the SAs also told me the same thing so while I can fit into children's clothing at other stores, I can't fit into crewcuts, even in their largest sizes. hope this helps!

  36. A little OT... is anyone else's Maya cardigan piling? My cashmere cardigan is still perfect after 3 wearings, but I had to take a lint shaver to Maya after one. Didn't it used to be that the cashmere piled and the merinos lasted forever? I honestly thought the quality of the Maya was pretty lousy when I received mine, but it's sooo cute on that I kept it anyway.

  37. Stefanie - Did you call the Collection Store and ask them to keep a look-out for the lace cami for you? That sort of exclusive item probably has a hold on it for someone, so even though it becomes available, it is really already spoken for. You should call one of the corporate PS in Lynchburg or the Collection Store in New York. If something is sold out, I usually work to get it through an associate than wait for the popback.. Much higher level of success that way. Believe me.

  38. pixelant, i saw the studded belts too, but my store only had out grey and black. i can't wait to see orchid and lime! they fit like the skinny belts that had the same square buckle, i.e. nicely on the high waist. i took a quick cell phone pic of the black one:

  39. So far I'm not crazy about much of the fall line that has been released. I bought a couple of pencil skirts but that is it and I have no designs on anything else at this point. I hope there will be some cool colors and a few fresh styles.

Every few seasons it happens that there is nothing at all I want from J.Crew and I go off in another direction. Maybe this is one of those seasons. I guess we'll see.

  40. According to the Store Director at my B&M, the rollout in October will be filled with a lot of black and white along with graphic prints.

  41. Evening

OT: Does anyone remember which skirt(s) had an exposed zipper? I'm intrigued by the idea and want to have a second look. Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  42. That's funny about the black and white because I was just looking through my closet the other day and marveling over the fact that I used to have such a black and white wardrobe, and now it's all color with the exception of one black skirt I just bought at the outlet. Sounds like I won't do much damage to my wallet during October rollout. It will be a nice break :)

  43. I took a chance and ordered the Slub Cotton Streamers Tee #17987, what a mess, I just opened up the bag. Poor quality, the tee is so thin, thinner than previous seasons, frayed edges along the neckline, and the neckline finishing is haphazard, it looks like a school art project. Another return going back to J Crew.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Belle de jour, the Mica mini (14881) has an exposed zipper. Not sure if the Matelasse (sp?) pinwheel skirt did too. It's gone from FS today so I can't check. The Linen tweed Mica minis looked like they had it online, but when mine arrived the zipper was definitely covered. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  45. jessie b--thanks for the suggestion! i have called the collection store a bunch of times, but to no avail! after my rant earlier, perhaps i should be as pushy on the phone w/them!

belle du jour--not sure which skirts have the exposed zipper, but i just rec'd the cutwave dress that has one. love the exposed zipper part (very reminiscent of marc jacobs), but the rest of the dress looks like someone unrolled a roll of toilet paper around me! i hope they continue to do some items w/the exposed zipper feature though--i find it quite chic!

  46. Has anyone tried on/can provide information on the sizing and quality of the following?:

    corduroy pencil skirt
    long v-neck sweater
    cambridge cable crew (pilling?)
cashmere shawl (worth the price? some colors are already dwindling!)

    thanks!!

  47. I was at H&M today and got a skinny black patent belt for $5.95.

Of course it is not leather, but it looks great and way cheaper than the J.Crew or AT versions.

    Also comes in pink.

  48. Fall is the best time of the year, great weather (usually), the trees are colourful and the best clothes come out.

I've already sampled some of the new arrivals and am patiently waiting for them to show up. The Gramercy laureate cardigan in pony brown and the Youngstown flannel shirt in Bali blue.

Who thinks up the names and colours? The seem to pretty preppy, east coast sounding. And for me that just adds to the fun.

    ReplyDelete
  49. kendra: I reviewed and put up IRL pics of the cord pencil skirt a while back. You can see it here if you're interested. I found the skirt to be TTS. I really, really like it.

I also have 2 of the Cambridge cable sweaters. Haven't noticed any pilling yet.

    ReplyDelete
  50. leana - it sounds like we are built similarly, but like someone else mentioned, crewcuts may not work out. i have ordered a few things from there and the way the clothes were cut and laid on me was just off (too much of a shrunken look and seams at weird places but overall the clothes fit - just too short). is there a crewcuts near you that you can at least try the items on at? though i guess with the free shipping on CC, it doesn't hurt to order and then return to your regular jcrew store if it doesn't work out - i wouldn't chance it on FS though.

  51. I hope some pieces in the next rollout will reach out and grab me and say "buy me and look fabulous!" Nothing from the last rollout stood out, except for a sweater jacket that I got for full price. Maybe I saw a piece of jewelry from the new rollout at my B&M last weekend. It was like little strips of black gemstone, very tempting and I hadn't seen it in the catalogs. There was also another lighter color of it. Bring on the new jewelry, and new colors!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Would love to see some more of the majestic purple that was available last year. The plum purple is nice but I like the bluer purples much better. A royal blue like the color offered in the Camino coat would also be great for my wardrobe.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Stefanie,

I have had the same problem with several of the higher priced collection items being cancelled also. I think that the personal shoppers in lynchburg see that these things have come in and take them for their clients and then cancel them on us. Boo JCrew!

  54. Afternoon

Thank you for being so kind as to help me out. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  55. OF COURSE they're arriving on Sept 15th, because that's the expiration date of our "rewards" cards!!

  56. I'm looking for the gramercy laureate cardigan for my husband in a size small!!! Does anyone know where/how I can find one? There are none left in that size online...
