Happy Labor Day! {celebrating w/ J.Crew?}

Happy Labor Day weekend everyone! Okay, once again I am a bit early with this, but I still wish everyone a great Labor Day and safe travels. :)

Since a lot of us will be attending various outdoor parties, events, and traveling to visit family and friends throughout the weekend- I thought it would be fun to get ideas of what to wear during the weekend. Especially since I have no clue what I will be wearing. (The weather in New England is so weird right now, first it was getting cold now its super hot.) ;)

I am hoping that after reading your {fabulous} outfits, I will get inspired on what to wear. (It really amazes me how a JCA mentions an item or shows an image of her outfit of the day, which then immidiately inspires me to wear the same or something similar. You all have such wonderful taste!) :)

What are you planning to wear this Labor Day weekend? Are you planning to go "head to toe" J.Crew or parts J.Crew?

  1. Anyone still looking for the Alessia heels? Popbacks in 8, 8 1/2 in honey glaze. These are so pretty, but too pointy for me.

Today I'm wearing the Marrakesh top in white with a cami underneath (darn is that thing sheer!!!) with whatever jeans are clean an the vineyard flips from last year. A big day of taking DD to the park and watching Flight of the Chonchords! Enjoy the holiday, everybody!

  5. I am wearing my white strapless beach dress today with one of the pale gold skinny belts and some red ballet flats from a year or two ago. I have the small pale gold gallery hobo (LOVE) and for when I get chilly later on- a red tartine cardi. Have a great day, all and enjoy the day off tomorrow!

  7. I have no idea what I'm going to wear today...Ohio is about 70 right now, supposed to get up to 80 with a few showers...Showers ruin everything!

I'm writing because I think someone needs to create a J.Crew App for the iPhone...like a sort of outfit of the day, tip of the day, item of the day sort of thing...wouldn't that be absolutely fabulous? Alexis, who can we get on that? ;)

  8. I went to a last summer BBQ yesterday and had some J.Crew on. I was inspired by the Sept catalog and layered the Duchess Necklace in pink over the Crystal Symphony necklace in pumpkin. I paired it with the Honeyhouse Dress from Anthro, a summer cardi in green from the Gap and a pair of Frye sandals. It was a hit. Other than that I'm staycationing so my outfits mostly consist of shorts and a tank top. :)

  9. Roxy,

I like the idea of the layered look you did also. I am wondering how heavy the Duchess necklace is and are the stones very big IRL?

    Thanks!

  10. The weather is lousy here and I will be painting my spare room, so I'll be wearing a ratty tissue tee and bermudas that I save for these kind of occasions.

Hmmm, I'd like to celebrate with a Private Sale code . . .

  17. Hey hey everyone!

    Happy Labor Day :)

I went to a wedding last night and I was totally Crewed out :). I wore a black Poplin Brynn dress with my evening primrose cardigan and Heirloom flora necklace in the chocolate color.
I got tons of compliments on my necklace and cardigan! :)

Tomorrow I won't be too crewed out because I work at a brand new school and we're still setting things up so I may be slouchy.
But come Tuesday when school starts--I will be wearing my Minnie Pants in black, Tory Burch flats and a Jackie Cardigan. :)

  18. Sydneygirl, the stones of the Duchess Necklace are not insignificant. They are the length from the tip of my thumb to its knuckle. About an inch. It's not very heavy. I wore both necklaces all day yesterday with no problem. Here's a pic to show you the scale. It's a lovely look -- hope this helps!

  19. I love these three red/white/blue looks!

I know what you mean about New England weather. I was at a wedding yesterday - sweating at the ceremony at 3:00 and then freezing at the outdoor reception at 8:00.

Make sure to carry a cute J.Crew cardigan with you ;)

  20. I'll be wearing my new knox sweater jacket and an unnamed JC dark grey tee with black scroll graphic, with some medium wash jeans and a blue pearl pendant necklace. I think it'll rain on the bbq I'm attending, so I'm bringing out all the greys and blue.

  21. today i'm wearing a slate slub cotton ruffle tee, my portland cardi in champaigne, with my GAP jeans and jcrew ballet jelly flats (prob one of the last days i can squeeze out of them) - it's been cool in MA this weekend!

  22. Roxy,

Thanks a lot for that info - and the pic. They do look very pretty and not too big at all in the photo, and it was more the weight I was worried about. I will have to go and see if they have it at my local store.

    Thanks again :)

  24. I was at Citifield for the Mets game today, it was sunny but a bit chilly so I wore light beige cropped pants (BR), ivory cami (AT), JC cotton corsage cardi in mist, Coach beige wedge sneaker sandals, JC shimmering teardrop earrings, mushroom charm necklace and gilded daisy ring. I have n idea what I will be wearing tomorrow, it all depends on the weather.... they're saying rain, unfortunately. Happy Labor Day, all!

  26. My sister passed away suddenly and unexpectedly earlier this week. It is a very sad weekend for our family. I wore a dark J.Crew pantsuit to the prayers Friday evening and a black Prada dress, bag and heels to the funeral on Saturday. I'm back home now and wearing the stamped paisley tee in dusty thistle and a pair of rip-stop cargo shorts that are about 3 years old but it is comfort I need right now. Trying for a bit of distraction reading this blog that I so enjoy. Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe weekend. If you're spending time with family, treasure every minute.

  27. Everyone: Thank you for sharing your J.Crew-ed out outfits. It has been super helpful for me.

ShuLvr: I am so sorry to hear about your sister. My condolences. I hope you and your family take care of yourselves!

  28. Oh ShuLvr I am so sorry to hear your sad news. I wish you strength during this difficult time. I will say a prayer for you and your family.

It is typical fall weather here in Calgary, Canada and I wore a pair of chino shorts with a perfect-fit tank and flip flops today, then changed into matchsticks and the long-sleeve sailor stripe top for dinner. I'm wore my favorite Ralph Lauren high-heel slides, showing off my new pedicure, which will soon disappear into boots for the winter.

I just read the post about J.Crew coming to Canada and that is great news. I see a lot of people think the locations would be Toronto and Vancouver but I'm not so sure. Toronto, definitely. But Anthropologie has stores in Toronto and Edmonton and Crate & Barrel has a store in Toronto and one to open in October here in Calgary. I don't think Vancouver is necessarily the automatic second location in Canada anymore. Alberta has a very young and educated population, more education per capita than anywhere else in Canada and I think that translates into attractive retail markets. We'll see I guess, and I'm glad to read that it is finally going to happen.

  32. I wish I wore something J Crew fabulous over the weekend. But I like the red/white/blue combination on the post! Wanted to get out there and take advantage of all the sales going on, but never made it the retail holiday I was hoping for!
