J.Crew News: What's Happening Today? {Thursday Edition}

As mentioned in an earlier post (refer here), I am on vacation! Unfortunately, I won't be able to keep up with all the latest J.Crew news, promos, and the like.

So this post is the "catch all" for J.Crew Aficionadas and Aficionados to share with one another the "current happenings" for today. Feel free to post your comments here- from current J.Crew promotions, sales, emails, and even questions on products (regarding fit & size), and the like. :)

P.S. There will be a daily "J.Crew News: What's Happening Today?" for the rest of the week- in order to keep the most current news on the most current post. :)

What comments do you want to share or ask of other Aficionadas and Aficionados? What is currently happening (in terms of promos, sales, emails, products, and the like)?

  2. Oh, I love the dress in the photo. My sister has it and it is adorable on her. What I wouldn't give for another fall season like the 2007 Paris catalog. *sighs*

  4. Did anyone score anything awesome with the EXTRA20 code? I (finally) ordered the Belle Clutch in the light olive color. I also ordered the prism bracelet and the silk pleated ruffle tank. Everything else disappeared out of my shopping bag rather quickly.

  5. I bought the Dazzling Dots Shift Dress and a Jackie Cardigan. I really hope the dress works out.

  6. Emily - I love the belle clutch in the light olive. I had to resist that one. :-)

Susan - I hope the dress works out for you, too. It looks like it could be good. The skirt in the mint color was definitely pretty.

  7. Jean,

You posted yesterday that the store you went to had some good markdowns. Which store were you at? I would like to call them ASAP:) Thanks.

  8. Used EXTRA20 to get the silk garland cami in sand & the silk charmeuse pencil skirt in both orange & bronze twig (interested b/c of Gigi's post, will still need to figure out which one to keep). Also got a short sleeve cotton cardi in spearmint & the gauze ruffle cover-up dress in white.

  9. Thanks Gigi! Did you find the material of the dazzling dots skirt to be substantial?

I was at my B&M yesterday. The SA had be try on a bunch of things-including a new tee with a cluster of beads near the shoulders. The one with the blue beads were already sold out in most sizes. I didn't expect to like it (seemed gimmicky) but it was cute. I believe it was priced $58 and probably won't make it to the sales rack. Most other things have been reviewed on Ema's lovely blog.

  11. Need help! Desperately seeking Washed Ruffle Collar Trench (sz. 4 or 6) in Khaki or Grey. If anyone sees one as you are scouring the sales racks, can you please email me? annchangshops at mac dot com. Thanks!!

  12. The Rockefeller Center store in New York... also at the Columbus Circle store. You might want to check it out at your local B&M. I believe they have marked down the items I mentioned yesterday too.

  13. Am I crazy because I ordered the Sherpa lined down puffer jacket?!? My excuse is I live in Wisconsin! I KNOW I will be happy when it's snowing out in November and I can pull that baby out and know I spent under $60 on it!!! I also ordered the hemp jacket in papaya and the crocodile print cocktail cardi. I am a sucker for percent off plus free shipping.

  14. Lot of popbacks in the sale section on the website right now. I saw a tiered ruffle skirt in a size 6 for 49.99 and the Havona (a 6 and a 10 I think) for 89.99.

  15. Jean,
Thanks. I do not have a local store.

  16. There is a 4 and a 10 in the Havona but I had to search for it...

  17. Free Shipping

    SURPRISE extended through Sunday

    For $150+

  18. Has anyone been to a distribution center sale in Lynchburg? It looks like they're having one this weekend. Is it worth the 3.5 hour drive from DC?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Pam: You're not crazy! I have the Serpa lined puffer vest from last fall and wore it to death (I'm in Canada). You'll be so happy to have it come October...and $60 is such a bargain!

  20. Call the stores... both stores have alot of sizes of the dresses. Even the SA was surprised with the newly marked down prices.

    Columbus Circle store - 212 823 9302
    Rockafeller Center store - 212 765 4227

  21. Bebeweight:
I saw several Washed Trenches in sz 6 on ebay bit they are pricy $99. That is a really cute jacket BTW!

    Nichi:
Did you get an email about the free shipping being extended?

  22. Yeah, the extra20 code pulled me over to the 'dark side' once again. I was sure I would waited for a summer blow out, or possibly fall. But the code got me. A coworker and I combined an order. A got a shirt while she picked up some full pop items. But the good news is my $23 shirt (sale price) gave the entire order free shipping.

  23. Diana - That's tough. You may get more versatility out of the bronzed twig by trying to take it into fall. I hope to wear that color w/black tights & a black turtleneck later.

Susan - The dazzling dots material is not flimsy. It's nice. It's just not heavy like a brocade. The dress is fully lined, so I imagine the weight feels good but not too heavy.

SBinDC - I believe AppGal (Musings On the Mountain? Check home page of JCA) recently went, but I can't recall. Twice I have heard there are lots of shoes & dresses. If you love those I'd imagine it could be worth it. Drive in Smart Car to ensure you actually save money by driving 3.5 hrs for a sale. *lol*

  24. I totally missed the EXTRA20 promotion!! I was totally ready to do a world economy boosting type of shopping spree. I hope JCrew starts being more like Banana Republic and has a 20% off sale every other week. There are still so many cute things on sale, but I'm scared to hold out on things as I'm afraid they'll sell out (I live in Japan and can only do online orders obviously). Somebody quell my fears, please!!

  25. I've been to the distribution center before, as it is just an hour detour (each way) between my trip between school and home (Blacksburg and DC), and my boyfriend's mom has also been another time. We both agree it is not worth the drive. I've seen cheaper stuff in stores during final sales, and by waiting for good coupon codes. The cheapest dresses are $49, shoes were no more than 50% off.
I was excited to hear it's relatively close to me, but disappointed on my trip there...sorry.

  26. mags, thanks so much! i just checked the measurements and would definitely need a 4. if anyone else has leads, please let me know!

  27. I took advantage of the extra20 discount and one item I picked up was the super 120s cropped trouser in coal (already have the jacket, pencil skirt, and dress in coal and love them). But this is very strange -- yesterday the pants were in the sale section for $98 (said originally they were $118). I had been eyeing them in the catalog when it first came out and thought I had remembered the original price as $98. I double checked the catalog and I was right - they were listed as $98 (even double checked the item#). But since they were in the sale section, I got them for $78 with the extra20 discount so I didn't really care that they said the original price was $118. I was looking at the website again today and saw that they were back in the regular section (not on sale) with the price of $98!! Isn't that odd?? It doesn't really matter since yesterday I got an additional $20 for them being in the sale section but I think that is weird!! Has anyone else noticed this with other items?

  28. Mags,

Yes, I got 2 emails this morning from JC that stated the code was extended through Sunday. I haven't tried it though.

  29. OT promo--

urban outfitters / free shipping on $75 or more / code: hellosunshine

Got the email this morning. Not sure how long this promo is running.

  30. Anyone still have a copy of the 2007 Paris catalog they wouldn't mind parting with?

  31. Just read an article on the WORST credit cards. Macy's was the worst, but coming in second with a few others was the JCrew Credit Card.....factors were interest rates charged and benefits (or lack there of in the case of JCrew.)

  32. On the EXTRA20 sale, I bought the silk treasure tunic in Blush. I've been coveting that tunic for a long time, so I finally pulled the trigger. Picked up a few perfect v-neck tees and a summer-weight cashmere tunic in Spicy Guava (love that color). OK, enough. I'm officially starting a shopping ban!

  33. MN2NY, yes I saw something similar. A day or two before the 20% off sale the mandrain henley was $9.99. The day of the sale it went up to $24.99. I haven't looked today as, I am done until the new arrival items hit the site.

  34. I ordered the bauble butterfly bracelet & the box arrived empty :(

I'm going to look for it on eBay. Although a friend of mine said it's huge. Does anyone own it?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I ordered a pair of the capri flip flops in the guava color :)

Didn't get free shipping but really didn't need another $120 worth of merch.

  36. Anyone been to a store with a good sale section? In particular I am looking for the Shawl Terry Cardigan Sweatshirt--A Weathered Stone in Small or Medium.

    Thank you!

  39. LizPoms - try the Palo Alto store, they had several in S/M/L/XL (no XS) in the weathered stone and the ivory/cream as of yesterday. The sale section was large, but I ended up getting the full price new black/navy swirl print mini : ) very cute!

They also have the white/navy polka dot dress in sz 2, 4, 8... it was obvious it wouldn't work on me so I didn't try it.

    ReplyDelete
  40. For those interested in the printed Claudine dress (the white with navy dots) - watch out for the lingerie straps. Both mine broke as I was putting the dress on to show DH. I haven't even worn it yet! I am debating whether to fix it myself or take it back to the Crew and let them deal with it :P

  41. jcbellemarie: I love that skirt! I posted a pic of it on my blog :) According to the SAs, it's going fast. Congrats on such a cute skirt!

  42. Thank you JCBelleMarie! I put the item on hold, you really helped me out!

  43. Check out the article below:
    http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Banking/CreditCardSmarts/the-worlds-worst-credit-cards.aspx

This is the one that names J Crew as one of the worst credit cards to have.

  44. FYI - went to the outlet store in San Marcos and they had a collection skirt from the Paris catalogue - it was all silk and had had some sort of library print on it for $34.99 and then you could take an additional 30% off. When rummaging I saw sizes 4, 6 and some larger sizes - might be worth a shot for some of you.

    ReplyDelete
  45. LizPoms, you're welcome! : )

lilac cupcake: thanks! I actually got the "Balustrade Mini" that Audrey showed on her blog, not the Jakarta one. I tried on both and liked the cute detail of some pocket-seaming (as in, looks like pockets but they don't have to open) on the Balustrade. Unfortunately, can't see that detail on Audrey's pic, or the lovely fact that seam is in the center back and mid-thigh in the front, avoiding the side-mismatch that plagues some other minis.

BTW I was worried the print would be too large but it is REALLY cute on. It runs TTS/ a teeny bit big - got a zero when sometimes I like to have a 2 in minis to wear lower on the waist.

    HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Actually on second thought, looking at Audrey's IRL pics here again, maybe there is only the one seam in the center back...sorry, don't have the skirt with me! But anyways, super cute! Not sure if it's in-store only or will be online..I hope online so I can grab some pretty pics of it : )

    ReplyDelete
  47. Sorry for the confusion jcbellemarie! That skirt is cute too ... I saw 2 people buy it and one SA put it on hold for herself while I was in the store :) Great purchase.

  48. Bebeweight: sorry this is so late in the day, but Oak Brook IL had the Washed Ruffle Trench in a 4 in Khaki a couple days ago. The sale section there was pretty well stocked, same items mostly that other JCAs have mentioned today, but in multiple sizes.

  49. Been eying the Holly Linen jacket for quite some time, and it finally was marked down from $99.99 to $69.99. I bought it in flax, and it was the only one remaining. I wanted to use my teacher discount but the SA told me that they don't honor it any more. That was news to me since I never received an email regarding that. I persuaded the SA to honor just this once and she finally agreed. I love a good deal, especially when it comes to J. Crew jackets/coats!

  50. The article was on the MSN home page--there was a link concerning good/bad credit cards to have or not to have. Probably under the money section now....
