J.Crew Offers Additional 20% Off Spring Sale :)

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Chanel Fashionista, Naomi, & Sherbie (in this post) , as well as Anne & Sudi, who let us know about J.Crew's most recent promotion.

J.Crew is offering 20% off their sale using promotion code EXTRA20. This offer expires 5/1/09. J.Crew also sent an email (shown below) announcing this additional percent off.
Happy {online} Shopping!

Are there any items you plan on getting with this promotion? If so, please share! :)

  1. Alexis I don't think the extra 20% makes it final sale this time. I don't see anywhere where it says the sale is final? It's just the regular spring sale, and 20% off that...right?

    ReplyDelete
  2. I Think: You are right! Thanks for catching that. :) I guess I am trained to expect the "final sale" with offers like 20% off now. LOL! ;)

  3. I bought lots with the 30% off so will be passing on this one unless new items are added to the spring sale. Everything is the same old same old that has been there a while now.

If there was 20% AND free shipping then I might buy but since JCrew does not allow that it is a definite pass.

  4. They raised the price of some stuff--the denim pencil skirt is back to regular price, as are the premium bistro pants that had been marked down. I haven't checked anything else, but I had those two in my shopping cart so that is how I know.

I hate it when they do this. I am so annoyed I will probably skip the sale this time.

  5. I'm considering the Rivulet cardigan (item # 12521, shortsleeve cashmere with little horizontal ruffles covering most of the front). Does anyone know how the sizing compares to other cardigans? I usually size down in cardigans like the cashmere Jackie and merino Michelle, but size up in cotton-nylon Jackies and the brand new summerweight Jackie. I looked through the blogroll and didn't see any IRL reviews. Thanks!

  6. I'm curious about the Danielle sandals - I saw them on an SA and they looked super-cute. The site says that they have a leather footbed AND sole - is that right? Anybody own or seen these IRL?

  7. Of course this would happen after I submit an order yesterday!

Oh well - we will see if CS is feeling charitable and would consider doing an adjustment.

  8. I got the faded-chambray seaside pants and citron Beatrice driving mocs this morning, I love placing a sale order with extra % off knowing I can return them later!

  9. Anonymous 7:32am

I have the Rivulet Cardigan and it runs VERY large. Definitely should size down in this one since it is "open" in the front with 2 hooks up top. The knit on this is so beautiful. The sweater has extra weight to it from all the ruffles, but they are so cute and look adorable on! This is like a statement piece in my opinion, very special.

  10. the crocodile cocktail jacket is in the sale. i have this jacket and it is my go-to piece.

    i highly recommend it!!!

  11. silver_lining,

I have the Danielle flat sandals and I love them! Super cute.

I also ordered the Danielle chunky heel sandals a while back, and returned them. They were SUPER uncomfortable.

  12. Just an fyi: the buttercup color in the chino shorts is a very pretty, subdued yellow. It must have more green or brown in it but it is not BRIGHT at all. Sorry I can't give a better description but wanted to share since I was pleasantly surprised when I received them and they're currently on sale.

  13. Danielles Have Leather SoleApril 29, 2009 at 8:51 AM

Danielle flats in the non-metallic styles had leather footbed and sole - true to web description.

If not, you could ask JC to return them and refund the shipping since the item did not meet the web spec.'s.

  14. Hi Soon to Be PhD: Just a note about the seaside pants: I have them in all 3 colors and they are short. The inseams are 31" as I recall. I was excited about this as I am always hemming or having to wear significant heels. BUT, do not put in dryer or you lose another inch. My store manager is letting me return one pair where this happened. I am 5'6". Also, the sizing is different in the differnt colors, not that you said you were buying anything but faded chambray. I love them, just with those caveats. Before they got shorter, I would wear flats and very flat heels. then i could only wear super flats. i will be back to normal flats after return.....and no more dryer! I found the sizing to be more generous than usual for me in JCrew. I wore a 10 in chambray and often wear 12 in JC pants. I got 8 in the other colors...

  15. I finally placed the order on a couple of items I had in my shopping bag since last week, I'm soo glad I waited. I ordered the Canvas Magazine Tote and the Pleated Silk Georgette Tank. I still hate paying 12 bucks for shipping although the extra 20% knocked me back into a lower shipping rate.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Does anyone else do this? After I placed an order this morning, I felt compelled to go back and see if "my" items are still available. A couple of things are not showing up anymore, so now I feel compelled to keep checking my email to see if I get that annoying email telling me that my some items have been cancelled.

I know it is a huge waste of time, but I can't help myself!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Thanks Maggie May! I am 5'3", so this is awesome news about the inseam- they will be perfect for me without hemming. I bought two different sizes, hopefully the smaller one is okay. I was considering the other colors too, good to know I should size down from the chambray.

  18. I hate to be synical, but a few things in my cart were marked up too :( Like, they are more now with 20% off than they were yesterday. . . It does seem like some things are the same price though, so the 20% is a good deal. It's nice to have a promo with no min :)

  19. the sea-side pants look straight out of the 70s.

  20. Hi, I was wondering if any of you has seen the rolling ruffles tank in you your store? (I do not want to buy from ebay and XS is sold out online).
Also, do you know if the Silk tie-neck tank (13307) runs true to size or big. I am usually a P0, and they have only 0.
    Thanks

  21. The EXTRA20 does stack with the free shipping now at Crewcuts, so if you are shopping for kids it's a great deal.

  22. Sorry if this is off-topic, but my Merino Michelle cardigans are not holding up well to washing. One of them already has a small hole after only one wash (delicate cycle in cold, no dryer). They are also a bit weird in the neck and shoulder area--they look stretched out. This was true even before washing though. I got them on super sale, so I don't regret my purchase, but I doubt they will last past this season. Disappointing.

  23. I'd thought I was all shopped out on J. Crew and didn't have anything left that interested me (and I'm not a big spring/summer person anyway), but enough of the things I'd been stalking showed up on the website this morning. And I'd forgotten I had a 10% discount from opening a J. Crew credit card. Dangerous thing -- overall, it tempted me into buying two coats, a jacket, a tank, and a pair of pants. Plus no shipping fees because one of the items counted as an exchange...all in all, it was less than 25% off original prices.

So thanks for the heads-up about the sale! At least until the credit card bill shows up :-) ...

P.S. To Anon @ @ 9:11 am: When I order something on sale that's the last item of its size/color in stock, I do find that it then drops off the website immediately after I finalize the order. So far it hasn't caused problems with shipping yet. So I wouldn't get too anxious for now about the item no longer showing up as available. Hang in there!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am passing on this promo and holding out for another 30% off maybe in May? With the shipping being so high it just makes sense when not much has been added for this sale...

I did use my red 25% off to purchase one of the new arrival jackets:) Thought that was better:)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Just when I thought I had everything I could possibly want...

The Belle Satchel was finally marked down too - plus the 20% off.... And the Michelle Cardigan, and the Georgi High Heels with Tassels in Warm Sandstone and Fresh Guava...my credit card needs a break!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Has anyone tried the Magdalene strappy flats? I'm just wondering how they fit...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Nope. I'm not going to partake in a 20% off when I can still use my red card. I'm going to Crewcuts to use my rewards (with red card) on my kids.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Like Rats on Parade, I purchased the Belle Satchel. I've been waiting for it to be marked down since it arrived on the site and I am very happy with the 20% off the newly discounted price.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Is the site working for anyone? I am so mad. I have been trying to get in all morning and it seems it is down. I really wanted to order something. Im about to cry and freak out on someone soon!

  30. Did the website update today?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Why do they always send the promo I don't need?? I really want to buy one of the new summer dresses that is NOT on sale, but I'm waiting for free shipping or a 20% off code...

  34. Yeah, I agree that it doesn't seem to have updated with any new stuff, just some different prices.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'd really like the 40% off sale items promo to show up in stores again

    ReplyDelete
  36. I ordered another Silk Double Cami. The first one was beautiful. They run true to size. A pretty basic piece, but hangs beautifully and is not too long for shorter women.

I saw the molten metallic tank yesterday in the store. It looked like it ran huge. . . pretty, on sale now, but no extra smalls.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I've had a few items in my cart for a while so I will take advantage of the promo for another pair of dark matchstick jeans, a library shawl cardigan, and a couple of silk tunics.

There is also one other item I ordered and did an inventory check prior to placing the order. I know, I know, we can't count on the inventory listed in J.Crew. But I'm curious.

After placing my order I went back to try and add 99 of that item into my cart. There were 28 when I first checked, now there are 21 "available". I'm going to leave 21 in my cart and watch the inventory dwindle during the day, just to see what happens.

And yes, I realize that people will probably think I'm whacked and may make comments to that effect. I'm online working all day today and it's only a few clicks and it will be interesting to me.

    ReplyDelete
  38. site just updated now!

    ReplyDelete
  39. They definitely took some items off the sale section - bistro pants as someone mentioned earlier were 78, now back up to 88 (full price), and the 3/4 sleeve cotton button down shirts were 48 yesterday and now back to full price of 58, so no percentage off either of those. dirty...

    ReplyDelete
  40. Something interesting just happened when I tried to place my order...I have a black cashmere hoodie and a 9.99 skirt in my cart - both steals I think. My first card was refused (I forgot that the MC put a hold on b/c of "suspicious activity" which isn't any diff than my usual spending patterns - 3rd this has happened this year - anyone else experiencing this?) Anyway, by the time I put in the info for my second card, the skirt and hoodie were taken out of my cart. Since those were the things I really wanted, I said hooey on the whole order. But I'm glad that they've finally update their systems or something, in the past I would have checked out and then gotten the OOS email.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I was wondering about the rivulet cardi too. Cute? Worth the price?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Just snagged the crocodile jacket for $67 and the CS rep let me have free shipping!

  43. This is a little off-topic, but it looks like J.Crew isn't the only one to make photo goofs... if you scroll over the model's left shoulder in this pic you can see her bra strap!

  44. Like Rats on Parade and Melissa I purchased the Belle Satchel.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I would like the Belle satchel in pink, but not the pebble color. Guess I'll have to stalk the website.

  46. Much as I would like 30% the sale, I am happier with 20% off and the ability to return - that, to me, is priceless.

  47. GapKids deal vs CrewcutsApril 29, 2009 at 11:44 AM

For Crewcut shoppers, don't forget to checkout Gapkids before you purchase from JCrew. Gapkids has buy one pair of shorts get a second pair 50% off. On top of that, you can use the "Friends" code and get an add'l 20% off your purchase.

I just saved a good deal of $ checking Gap before ordering my kids shorts and simple tee's from JCrew (although I love Crewcuts I can't justify spending extra $ on kids clothing!).

  50. Love J. Crew! I placed a huge order yesterday (3 dresses, skirt, shirt, etc.) and when I saw they had this promotion, I called and they did a one-time adjustment for me, and I still got the free shipping deal on the original sale.

  52. I'm the Anon @ 7:20am who asked about the Rivulet cardigan. Thank you, Mags @ 8:35, for your thoughts, they are very helpful and did nothing to dissuade me from buying.

Does anyone know the fit of the 'Featherweight cashmere short-sleeve cardigan' (item # 15534, the v-neck style with subtle ruffling on the edging- neckline/placket/sleeves)? I can probably run to the store to check but it doesn't open for 45 minutes. :)

I will most likely get the Champagne Rivulet and a Black Featherweight. Thanks!

  53. I was kind of annoyed the last time they did this promotion - I ordered the items and put in the code, submitted the order...and realized they hadn't actually taken the 20% off! So I immediately called CS and the nice lady agreed to take the $20 and credit it back to my card. Well, over a month later when I get my credit card statement, there's NO CREDIT BACK. I called CS again this time and the woman looks at the order and says, "Oh, well the 20% was already reflected in the individual item's prices." I told her I have NEVER seen J Crew do this (why would they call it an "extra 20% off" if it's already been incorporated into the prices) and would not have ordered the items at those prices, but she insisted that this is how it is done and refused to take a return now that I'd taken the tags off. When I look back at my receipt, I feel like I'm going crazy. Can anyone confirm this is actually the case?

  55. Has anyone done searches on random things such as "skirts" or "cardigans" and one day see a skirt in red in your size with no other colors and the next couple days look for this item again and the red is gone but now this item comes in brown? Very very bizarre. Its like JCrew is holding back on items and not showing realistically what is in stock. Jcrew could have shown the brown and red skirts at the same time if both were in stock. Very weird.

  56. Anon at 12:17:

I love both of my feather-weight casmere cardigans (the short-sleeved ones with the ruffles and crystal buttons). I have it in slate and misty lavendar. LOVE THEM.

I wear a size medium in J. Crew cardigans, and find this cardigan fits like the others. The only warning...it is a bit long...about mid-hip on me (I am 5'8" with a short torso--keep that in mind). If you are looking for a shorter cardigan, this is not the cardigan for you.

Not only is the cardigan beautiful, it is also so very soft. :) Hope this helps!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Jamie B- you probably forgot to "update order" after you input the code. you should have realized that it you didn't get a promo if the price was still the same! the credit should have gone on your card within 7 business days. if it didn't show up by them you should have called instead of waiting for the month to pass by. its obvious that you must not watch your money very well.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I just pulled the trigger for the flora sandals (I have a similar pair from last year and love them- the small heel helps), the caribe espadrilles, french terry cardi in pewter, origami cardigan, and featherweight short sleeve cardigan. It is already 110 degrees outside here and about 60 in the aircon so these should come in handy. Will take awhile before I get them though to review because my mom will have to send them to Dubai.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I have had to have JCrew credit my account a number of times for various reasons. I would say that more than 50% of the time, it is not credited as they say it will be. I always check my credit card by phone/online 5-7 days after and call right away to let them know if it didn't go through. Call me cynical, but this has happened so many times that I'm starting to think it might be a strategy.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Jamie B -
I had a situation where J.Crew was going to credit my card with what I had paid in shipping. They said it would take up to 30 days, so I waited 30 days and called and got the "oh, err, yeah, we're working on it." It showed up like two days later. Pretty sucky to have to call twice, huh? :( Sorry about your situation. Sounds frustrating

    ReplyDelete
  61. Jamie B.: How awful! That would make me so mad! I would call CS again and try to get a supervisor, sounds like you might have gotten a bad cs rep on your first call. Hope they get it resolved for you!!

I'm not planning on taking advantage of this 20% off, I just bought a fabulous Michael Kors trench from Bluefly with their recent extra 15% off and am now on a shopping ban until the end of May!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Great timing! Picked up the Daphne suiting dress in navy to go with my Liza's. I *hope* this dress with work with my Liza's. Also snagged a Meringue Sleeve top in Tea Rose. I just love that color!

  63. 12:33, welcome to the world of JCrew online shopping. You've never noticed this before? Some people might believe that they are honestly restocking returns piecemeal; others (myself included) believe this is all part of the game.

    ReplyDelete
  64. 12:33 and 1:24 - I just cannot believe for a second that the crap website and inventory management are capable of allowing jcrew to play a game with merchandise availability. Not that they wouldn't want to do it, I just don't think they have the tools.

    ReplyDelete
  65. OT - does anyone know how the cotton tie-front dress fits? Any opinions on it? Seems so cute and summery!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Sometimes when a CS has promised a credit, they actually open a case and send it to Support Services for approval. Some credits get denied if the item has been reduced. This happened to me awhile back.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Can anyone tell me how the Library cardi runs. I usually like to wear a Medium in their shorter cardigans, but this looks like it has the potential to look sloppy if the size is too big. I usually wear a six in all the tops.

Also any opinions about the pink color of the Maisey. I think I have asked this before, but I couldn't find the response. I wanted the charcoal, but that one is all sold out. I don't want to look like a big pepto bottle, but I really do like the jacket.

    Thanks in Advance.

  68. I used it to buy a bikini (french top and foldover shorts). Since I can only buy them online, I've been waiting for an extra % off deal without final sale.

  69. leaderboys, I have the library shawl cardi in M, my usual size for JCrew sweaters. I am a 4/6 on the bottom and the cardi fits properly around the bottom, it is not tight and it is not floppy either. I didn't feel it had extra room in the top but you may prefer a S if you want a snugger fit.

I just ordered another in the other color today, really a great deal on a good quality cardigan. So comfy and soft with minimal pilling.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Has anyone tried the faded-chambray seaside pant? Is the fabric very thin? Is it TTS? TIA!!

Leaderboys: the Library shawl cardigan fits TTS. I would not size down. The arms are fitted and the body fits relatively close to the hips without hugging too much. Hope that helps.

    ReplyDelete
  71. ^ leaderboys, I should add that although I usually take a M in JCrew sweaters, I do often have to pin the cardi plackets closed. I could go up to a L but then they are too loose around the waist.

  72. Cashmere professor cardigan...DO IT!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Danagideon @ 12:42, thanks! That was very helpful. I scanned your blog and didn't see the shortsleeve cashmere featherweight cardi, but your Brigitte strappy heels review was excellent. I was debating the neon orange ones and now I *really* want them. Gah! This board is so good, but so BAD.

  74. Can anyone comment on the fit of the swiss dot melody dress? I am a 2 in most skirts but usually have to go with a 4 for JC's pencil skirts.
    Thanks!

  75. Could someone tell me how the boyfriend tees run? If I take a M in perfect tees would the M in the Boyfriend be too loose?

    ReplyDelete
  76. anon 2:36: Size down they run big, and the light color ones are see through. They also do not hold up in the wash very well, my two from this year has come apart at the neck seam after a cold water wash.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I would agree that the boyfriend tees run a size big. I have had no
problem with them with repeated washings. I do delicate wash and low dry.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Hi, Anon at (now) 2:22: I am glad I was able to help.

I love those heels. Very pretty, even if a bit impractical. :)

I have not worn the cardigans out yet because it has been SO hot here in the mid-Atlantic...I think I might have to pull one of them out to wear tomorrow (should be coolere here). I do love them a lot (can you tell), though!

  80. I have the silk/slub Melody dress and I find it TTS. I am a 2 in JCrew pants (although I have a 0 in the Saturday pants) and it fits TTS

    ReplyDelete
  81. #1 anon@2:36...I have the "other" melody dress, but I assume it runs the same as the swiss-dot version. I am also between a 2 and 4 in j.crew bottoms but got the 4 in this dress. It is a perfect fit, IMO, since it is a slimmer-fitting dress.

#2 anon@2:36...agreed on the BF tees...size down. Mine have held up great so far, but the lighter colors are indeed a bit sheer.

  82. Well, its 12:30 pm in Seattle and I just got my 20% off sale email!

Makes me wonder if west coast folks are losing out on sale items on the website since we often don't know about it until hours after many other folks have had an opportunity to shop.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I bought my husband a pair of shorts and a polo shirt, and I got myself a french terry cardigan - anyone already have one of these? I'd love to hear what you think of it. I'm eight months pregnant and it was so exciting to buy something non-maternity today, even if it's more of a fall item I won't be wearing for awhile - I've missed regular clothes!

    ReplyDelete
  84. The store has a nice promo on the new S/S cashmere tee for $78 (orig. $98). So far I've only seen it in Natural, Pewter and Misty Lavender. Too bad I let my friend borrow my red 25% off card which CS ended up writing her name on it so I could no longer use it. It would've made this an even better deal. Yet, I still went ahead and bought one at the store with my $25 SUMMER REWARDS card (that I received 2 days ago) and was lucky enough to snag the Misty Lavender one online for 20%. So all in all, I'm happy.

    ReplyDelete
  85. What am I missing with the French terry cardigans? They are all showing as full price for me. When I put them into my cart they are still full price.

    ReplyDelete
  86. French Terry CardiApril 29, 2009 at 3:52 PM

Same for me. I also tried a mock checkout and the price was not discounted, still FP.

    ReplyDelete
  87. The french terry cardi didn't show up at sale price on the first try for me - I had to go back to the "knits and tees" category, selected to view 90 items, and then I was able to click on it and see the two sale colors (pewter and natural, I think - I got pewter).

    ReplyDelete
  88. I remembered that, because it happened to me once. At that time, it's 20% off sale and 15% student discount, & free shipping, they applied to everything on my order, except one which wasn't availble at that time (but the CS said she would find it for me and I will get all the discount). A week later, I got the shipment (the last one) from the store, but less discount (only 20% off sale applied). So, I called CS, the lady said it might take 30 days or next billing circle. I waited for 30 days, and nothing happened. I called CS again, the lady said I should contact my CC company because they credited already. So, I called my CC, they said they didn't get anything refund from JC, and would like me to ask JC for the evidence that they sent me money. I called JC, the CS said they're not allowed to do so, and had me fax them the CC statement for 2 months to show that I didn't get any refund. Finally, I called the CS again and asked for supervisor, which she said she will credit back only for the shipping fee, but not the student discount. So, I decided to end the story there because I already wasted 2 months with numerous phone calls and got enough up set of calling back and forth.

Lesson learned, if there anything suspicious during order (e.g. they forget to discount or anything), I just have them cancel my entire order and reorder again.

  91. Question about ordering, if anyone has advice:

I placed an order with J.Crew three months ago and never got it (my apt manager had been away for awhile so I couldn't check to see if it was in the office, and then eventually I forgot...oops). Anyway, I checked today and my apartment never received the package. The order status online says that it was shipped. Do you think I should try to call J.Crew and get a refund or is it simply too late at this point (plus it says they shipped it...)?

    ReplyDelete
  92. ^ Call J.Crew, they will do a trace on your package. UPS and FedEx lose only a small % of packages a year, but it adds up to thousands lost of millions shipped.

I placed an order with VS that never arrived. They traced it, came up empty and then refunded me the entire amount incl. shipping. About a year later, the package showed up looking as if it had spent a year traveling g-d knows where. I called VS and they told me to keep it. I imagine it's pretty unlikely yours will show up but you should at least get a refund.

  93. Anonymous @1:00pm - your comment was unnecessarily mean and rude. I actually did update my order but if you use J.Crew a lot you'll remember they had a lot of website problems for awhile. I'm disappointed someone like you is on this forum.

Thank you everyone else for the helpful advice - the CS rep did tell me it would take up to 2 weeks for the credit to be placed back on my card and I just trusted that they would do itI definitely but Iwill be more on top of things from now on. I've never had that happen before from a company.

  94. Can we combine extra 20% and teacher's discount? Thanks...

    ReplyDelete
  95. Yes, b/c it is not a global promotion. That is one JCrew rule I know for sure!

  97. Allison, it's good to see another preggo still shopping at J. Crew! Not being able to shop for the past 8 months has been difficult!!! It doesn't help that I'm constantly on this website seeing what everyone else is buying! I'm having to restrain myself from buying the dressy jersey strapless dress. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Allison: you will LOVE the french terry cardigan. I got the weathered stone color about 2 weeks ago, wore it everyday, and ended up getting the white color. They are wonderful to just throw on and make your look more put-together. Check out Slastena's blog for IRL pics! :)

  99. No, bec. w/ the shipping, you're not saving that much.

  100. Lauren, glad to hear I'm not the only pregnant woman who keeps having to hold herself back buying regular clothes - today even I was thinking "well, that looks pretty stretchy" - fortunately I have a few J. Crew dresses in particular that I'm sure will be pretty forgiving and good to have for summer. Good luck to you too!

AppGal, thanks for the review and the link on the cardigan - great to see it on an acutal person and in a few different outfits! I have already thought that if I like this one I'll probably buy another, I nearly bought the navy but went for one of the sale colors. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Allison, Lauren H-I am also pregnant! 7 mos! I totally feel your "pain"-see, I am still on this blog. It's hard to restrain. Fortunately the past few months have been BLAH compared to previous seasons.

I bought the frency terry cardi and have been able to wear it...unbuttoned but it looks very cute. I sized up to a medium. I have gotten a ton of compliments and it's AWESOME to wear jcrew with my belly :) I also got a michelle merino and have been wearing that (unbuttoned)

    ReplyDelete
  102. I returned my terry cardigan, it hugged my butt and it was too long on me, it would look good on a tall person though, for short people like myself it is too long.

  103. Did anyone here order the Underwire French Top (bathing suit top) in the D-cup (item 16480M)?

It never showed up online and when I called to order it from the catalog they said it was already sold out!

I don't know how that's possible since it was never online and the May catalog is the first catalog it appeared in.

    ReplyDelete
  104. We should have a preggo and can't give up the crew post. I am just 6 weeks in and know I should stop buying my normal size stuff it some styles, but just can't yet! There are luckily some "forgiving" pieces out right now!

  105. Anons 6:48 & 8:17:

I know clothes are such a trivial thing to be concerned about while pregnant but I'm tired of maternity clothes!!!! I just finished working a week ago and so now I have all this time to fill (which I seem to be filling by obsessing over the J. Crew catalogues and website). My resolve is seriously struggling right now and I have about 5 things in my online shopping cart (3 weeks left until my due date!!) Giving up the Crew has proved to be harder than giving up all the dietary things they restrict.....

    ReplyDelete
  106. Lauren H-ha ha ha. I totally agree! It's true, in the larger picture not wearing jcrew isn't THAT big a deal but geez, I wish Jcrew did a maternity line...mat clothes just are blahhh. Just think, buying jcrew clothes will give you motivation post baby. We should have a maternity jcrew support group!

  107. I need help. Have you all seen the bow pencil skirt that comes in the Robin Egg Blue (Tiffany Blue) and Melon? What color should I buy and what to wear it with. All i know is the skirt is adorable and I want it.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Leticia, I got the bow skirt in the tropical aqua & love it. I also tried on the orange, but, for me, felt the tropical aqua would go w/ more items in my closet, so, I got it, and it is super cute. Love, love it. Either is a winner, IMO. But, what do you already have that would go w/ the blue or orange?

    ReplyDelete
  109. Caliglam, if I purchase the blue, I was thinking of wearing it with some kind of cami in ivory, like the victoria cami or the solid silk garland cami and then a cardi for a more office, church, sunday brunch type outfit. The cardi would be another pastel color or some print.

Then I think a black elbow sleeve tee with killer pumps will make it look downtown chic.

Check out these links of how these ladies wore theres, both which are adorable by the way:

  110. Has anyone seen the crocodile jacket in a NJ store. I would rather get it with the red card.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I am 7 months pregnant and I asked if they will be doing a pregnancy line and they said no. I have kept the jcrew habit alive with shoes, sweaters, bags & jewerly.

There are some wonderful maternity lines out there --try Maternal America line. I am loving my stuff from there!

    ReplyDelete
  112. I wore Japanese Weekend maternity during both of my pregnancies. The clothes are so well made and designed (read: they don't scream pregnant--unlike some of JCrew's tops, LOL) that I still wear some pieces.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Can anyone comment on the silk-linen ruffle cardigan? It looks so cute in the picture but how is it IRL? Also, how does the sizing run? I can go between two sizes but they don't have the color I want in the larger size so any help would be appreciated before I pull the trigger. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  114. Letitia, yes, saw those blogs, cute. I think what you have suggested w/ the blue bow would be really nice; so far I've worn it w/ a white cami, and the michelle cardi in the darkish taupe color.

    ReplyDelete
  115. J. Crew maternity clothes would be great - I did buy a crewneck sweater a size up from my usual and that worked really well in the winter.

For the six weeks pregnant anonymous poster, you may end up being surprised how long you can wear some of your normal clothes - for me, the issue eventually became that shirts would no longer be long enough, so I had to pull them out of my normal rotation. I can still wear a few of my non-maternity skirts that are stretchy, even though I'm now so big half my maternity tops are now too short. :)

    ReplyDelete
  116. I've been wearing all of my J. Crew cardigans throughout the pregnancy and even purchased the dusty rose spectator peeptoes (I couldn't help it!!) but I'm definitely ready to be able to shop for "normal" clothes again. I think my husband is terrified of me being able to purchase J. Crew again.....hehehe.

  117. anon @ 1:37 regarding the Cotton Bow Dress: I got one in Navy in an XS and sent it back. I am 5'5" and felt like it was too long for me for the summer. The fit was also generous. The style and material is very nice, though.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Pregant J Crew ladies:

Gap Maternity has several J Crew-like items and they have great markdowns and coupons. Gapcard customers get 10% off every Tuesday for the next 6 months in stores (possibly online too-not 100% on that)

    ReplyDelete
  119. I have the cotton tie front dress and am unsure about sending it back. It definitely runs large--I had to size down. I did not find it too long, but I am 5'7".

The neck is cut very wide, so much so that youd have to wear a bra with especially wide set straps, or go strapless. This is the biggest (and only real) negative for this dress. I dont feel like I have enough support in strapless bras (they always feel like theyre falling down), and dont want to have to buy an extra bra for a casual dress. Also, the wide neck makes it impractical for even a casual work setting.

    HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  120. Thanks for the feedback on the bow-tie front dress ladies! I think I'm going to pass based on your reviews since it sounds like it'll be too long and too wide/loose at the neck for me. Thanks!

  121. I bought 3 super cute Crystal Jewel Headbands in Yellow (YL5517), Pink (PK5821), and Navy blue (BL8133) colours.

The yellow and pink were $9.99 (sale) and the blue was ~$18. I used by red card (extra 25% off) valid until April 30th to save some money.

I think they are sold in-store only, as I couldn't search online. I was curious to see if they come in any other bright colours.

Have any you ladies checked them out in your local stores?

    Cheers.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Silk Gladiola jacket is what I got with my 25% off red card AND my rewards card. I cannot wait to get it. It is already sold out today in my size so glad I ordered yesterday! sizes 10, 12, 14 are all gone and limited in other sizes!

    ReplyDelete
  123. Has anyone tried the Spaced Dyed Cardigan on #15401, I am wondering about the sizing of the item?

    ReplyDelete
  124. Got a note from my SA reminding me that today is the last day to use my red card and this note below: Anyone else heard of this program? I haven't made it into my local store to ask about it.
I did use my rewards card online to order the silver sand jacquard jacket- down to $99 from $375 + 20% off-hopefully cute in person:)

And be sure to ask about our new “Shop and Share” program- where you can save money by encouraging your friends to shop at J.Crew!

  131. I ordered a good amount of stuff this morning using the EXTRA20 code because there some things that I missed before in particular colors that I wanted. I am really sick of the fact you can't combine promotion codes when it comes to free shipping. I just called and they would not apply it additionally. This is so irritating almost every online retailer gives you free shipping on flat rate orders over a certain $ threshold. I guess paying for shipping is the price we JCAs have to pay for bargain shopping.

  132. Twiga: Re silver sand jacquard jacket

Congrats! I actually wanted to see it IRL and called the Madison Ave store (I'm in NYC) but they said they don't carry it, which baffles me as the website clears says only the collection store has it.

  133. Would someone be able to text me or give me a ring when the website updates tommorrow Please ? I live in PST, but i really wanna score some sale items before the promotion ends in 2 days..

I tried to apply both the 20% off coupon and my student discount to an order and CS said coupons cannot be doubled up. I didn't think, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

  135. I just received the D-cup glamour top and solid retro hipster in tea rose (I missed the Extra 20 promotion by a day, but used my student discount). I must say that the tea rose looks NOTHING like it does online... in fact, it is more of a coral color. I have really fair skin, and am not sure the coral does it justice. Also, much to my chagrin, the top does not provide much in the way of "no show-through".

I bought them Burlingame,CA store. They just had a few Yelow ones left and no longer have those thin crystal jewelled headbands (Pink and Blue crysal ones).
