Crewcuts Email: New Arrivals for Crewcuts + Free Shipping

"Thanks!" to many of you who let us know about Crewcuts latest email. J.Crew reminds us that there are new arrivals for their Crewcuts collection.

They are also reminding us that J.Crew is offering free shipping on all Crewcuts orders with no minimum (refer to the "Free Shipping For Crewcuts!" post). Just like the old days, this promotion requires no code (it's automatically applied)! ;) This offer expires 5/31/09.

Also, only Crewcuts items are eligible for this offer. So if you have non-Crewcuts with Crewcuts items in your cart, only the non-Crewcuts items will get charged for shipping.

Happy {weekend} shopping!

  1. Thanks for sharing the free shipping Alexis.

OT - has anyone tried the high-waisted super 120's pencil skirt item #86013. I am considering it in the tea rose. Does it fit TTS? Is it quite long?

    TIA

  2. The girls Crewcuts selection is really adorable especially the whimsical tops and all the sweet dresses. I contemplated getting the blue seersucker jacket and matching shorts for my little nephew but he grows out of his clothes within a matter of months and has so many still unworn with the tags still on. :I

  3. every time I see these crewcuts emails or photos, I wonder: Does no one at j.crew have a kid that plays? Do they only have fantasy kids who stay indoors and never spill and never mess up their pretty clothes? These clothes are out of touch with reality.

  4. I haven't bought Crewcuts in a while but my daughter wears their cute tees and polos and cotton sweaters and wellies and flip flops all the time to play in etc. They are much better quality than the women's ones....you should feel her "Jackie" like cardigans...the quality is so much better than my recent one.

  5. MY SON HAS THE TIE THE LITTLE BOY IS WEARING....$5 @ THE FACTORY STORE IN WOODBURY. THEIR TIES ARE WONDERFULLY MADE FOR LITTLE BOYS, JUST LIKE DAD'S

  7. Cap'nCrew, the highwaisted skirt is not really TTS compared to their other pencils, IMO the fit was quite problematic. In my regular size, it was too tight in the thighs but too loose in the stomach (and since it's high waisted, it just looked weird), and sizing up didn't help since even though the thighs fit, the waist/stomach was even baggier. I'd say it was a little longer than knee length on me, and I'm about 5'5". The color was gorgeous, though.

  8. JCrew does offer some things that are a little dressier but there are plenty of knits and other items. I don't know, growing up I had a mix of play and school, and more formal occasion attire. I don't think anything odd of their selection. There are plenty of brands that lean towards a certain client, think of Janie and Jack, a lot of their items aren't "get out and play in the yard" items.

That being said, I can't wait for the crewcut store to open up at the U Village!

  9. I agree that the high waisted super 120s skirt fits funny. I had to get 1 size larger than I normally get in JC pencil skirts... and I am not thrilled with the fit. It's a little loose but my regular size was just way too tight in the thigh area. And I don't have hips/thighs to speak of. I'd recommend sizing up. The length on me was normal (at/just above knee) but I am tall...

  10. I love crewcuts, especially their knit dresses and critter shorts. My niece always has several of their dresses and both my niece and nephew wear the critter shorts and pants. I wish they had more boys tees, though. I think they offer a better and bigger selection of girls' tops and tees than boys'.

  11. Thank you Em and Silver Lining for the fit info on the pencil skirt. Much appreciated.

  12. One of the reasons I love Crewcuts so much is because it is not like all other kids clothes. It is well made & unique and doesn't say OLD NAVY or GAP on the front!. I buy every single item on sale and much of it at the same price as an old Navy etc... you just have to buy off season for the next year etc... (I am currently unpacking my daughter's adorable Mermaid critter shorts from last Summer!- I paid $9.99 for them at the end of Summer) You also can't beat Crewcuts for any special occasion outfit. AND where else Can I purchase a golden roses puffy skirt for my daughter and a matching top for me!! Totally over the top I know, but you gotta love it!

  13. I LOVE the crewcuts and second the off season buying tactic. I got a silk shantung dress for my daughter to wear as my best friend's flower girl this summer for twenty five bucks!!! Their tights are the best, and my daughter is no little frilly kid, she plays hard, and the cotton tights stand up to her toughest wear. I also got her the next four sizes of cashmere shells at thirteen bucks a pop during the before Christmas sales. Sure, lots of the stuff is ridiculously overpriced at full price, but so is the adult clothes, and I won't buy that stuff for myself either!

  14. Anon 12:59 I second the "ridiculously overpriced at full price" for myself, and my kids. I buy lots but ONLY on sale at the end of the season, often FS because I plan ahead and try things on in advance. I found this week with the new rollout - and numerous comments from other JCAs -that 1)there are very FEW items new and different enough from my current things that are really motivating and 2)the price points ARE training many more than in the past to wait for the sale. I think there are many "quiet" JCAs out there that are getting priced out of J Crew, but are probably shy about voicing that opinion here.

  15. I'm with you girls! My kids have quite a few pieces of Crewcuts in their wardrobes, but all of them have been purchased at the end of the season for the next year, or at very low markdowns. I only shop this way for myself as well. I find that the polos and tees in Crewcuts are very durable, and to echo an earlier comment, DIFFERENT. My son is 10, and has the nantucket red critter pants, and has been wearing the cord critter pants for years, and ALWAYS gets compliments and inquiries on them.

  16. so it just proves anon's point - crewcuts are out of touch with reality - everyone on here says they only buy when the stuff's been way, way discounted. if it was that great to begin it, people would buy it at full price.

I much prefer hannah anderson - well made clothes with delightful prints and quality that stands up to playing outside.

  17. Kathleen02 - thanks for the reminder of Janie&Jack. I love their clothes and have purchased their often - very well made, great fabrics and designs. (Their affiliate Gymboree is just not my aesthetic.) I would still definitely consider Crewcuts for unique pieces and great colors for our family and for gifts for other children we know.

As for the play aspect others have mentioned, one of my friends dresses her two boys in head-to-toe Ralph Lauren and those boys definitely get out and play in them like regular boys do. And several other friends try to go organic as much as possible which gets pricey. To each his own.

On each weekly trip to my local JCrew/Crewcuts there are MANY and I mean Many people buying crewcuts at full price. Hundreds of dollars worth. I buy both on sale and full price depending on what my children need at that time. A lot of the really cute stuff sells out before it gets to sale.

This blog is just a small representation of the population.

  19. Today my daughter was wearing head to toe crewcuts (that's my gal) She dressed herself in bootcut jeans, purple/gray stripe tee, gray cable cotton sweater with hood and wellies. She looked adorable. I like Crewcuts a lot and they make up 90% of my daughter's wardrobe. I prefer Crewcuts to any other clothes for children b/c the qualilty is there and they are durable.

  20. OK-I have to ask....

The largest boy size is 12, which is often sold out. Are some of you ladies wearing crewcuts? I ask because there are some cute crewcuts sweatshirts that could be worn by a male or female, and the 12s are always sold out.

  21. or the kids could be fat and need a size 12.

  22. I love crewcuts for my daughter but wait till things are heavily discounted to get pieces. Overall I find crewcuts to be better quality than their women's clothing. At sale prices the dresses, sweaters are really good deals but at full price, they are way over the top.

  23. 20% off piperlime "N2MZQJDQ2DCG" it might be a 1-time use since i got in on a postcard...i'm not sure.

  24. Sorry, OT

Does anyone have any feedback on the editor satchel or tote? I recently received the uptown tote, but it's going back due to the poor quality for the price.

  25. I have paid full price for crewcuts if it's something my niece or nephew really wants or if it's selling out (or if I really want them to have it :D). Otherwise I try to wait for at least one mark down. Then, at the end of each season, if they have items ridiculously marked down, I buy for the next year's season.

  26. Leanne - I am actually shocked that your Uptown Tote was poor quality. Personally, I have two uptown totes and love them, you might want to exchange for another Uptown. Maybe you just got a bad one. Not a big fan of the editor bags because of the resin chain. The leather is not nearly as nice either.

  27. Hey anon 9:59
I had ordered one of the Italian Vachetta ones, and I found the leather to be really thin. Also, I knew from the description that it was unlined, but I thought it would feel more like suede, not sandpaper. I really like the design of it, but I guess for $300 I was expecting something sturdier.
