J.Crew Bookmark's No Longer Work

As many of you have noticed and mentioned (throughout posts on the blog), bookmarking J.Crew pages no longer seem to work properly (we end up seeing a screen similar to the one shown above).

I too, have {unfortunately} encountered this. At first, I thought it was just me and maybe I had done something to alter my settings. Yet, after reading the comments, it seems that many of you have experienced the same issue, which got me thinking... "what's going on here?" To be honest, I am not sure why bookmarks no longer work, when they worked fine in the past.

Are your bookmarks working or no longer working? What do you think is behind this latest issue with J.Crew's website?

  1. It has not been working for about a week or so now. I think it's part of a greater website and inventory management problem that they where links are only accessible if they are from within the main site and not directly linked... hopefully they will fix it soon, it's annoying to have to give someone a bunch of item numbers to look at.

  2. ah, i find this so incredibly annoying! how else am i supposed to know if coveted items are in stock? :)

i think between this and the annoying continued presence of final sale, i've pretty much given up checking j.crew's site on any sort of regular basis. that's good anyway, since i um, am not supposed to be spending anything anyway, but i did like stalking items!

  3. I can't begin to guess what's going on w/the J Crew website and I suspect they don't know either. The white screen w/the postcard that notifies that the site is down is a real crack up. It says something about how even the best sites have glitches. They shouldn't even hover over the letters on their keypad that spell out best sites. They can't put themselves anywhere near that playing field and, therefore, shouldn't remind us how crappy their site is.

I'm signing at unforgivable site, but count myself in the many that still struggle through all the glithes.

  4. I think that for whatever reason J.Crew is disallowing deep linking unless you are linking from sources they allow. This seems to explain why bookmarks or even the links we include in our posts aren't working. Not sure what their reason is.

Over the last weeks, I have had problems accessing my account, performing searching within their site, and checking out. I either got error messages or was redirected to their home page.

I had to do a lot of fiddling on my end to get things working and successfully purchase anything.

  5. Is there any chance they are trying to make it so shoppers can't bring up items JCrew doesn't want out for sale at certain times? This does stink - all of my bookmarks take me to the greenscreen. Hopefully this is just a temporary glitch while they continue w/this website 'upgrade'.

Next thing to go will be the ability to key in qty's. We'll probably get a drop down # box by the end of this fiasco. :0

  6. I was in a BM store at JUST the right time tonight. Some sale items are now an extra 50% off!!! The SA were just striking red marks on the tags as i was browsing! Too bad i went straight from work... my rewards card came in the mail today!

  7. Yeah... When I think they couldn't come up with more tech problems with the website... they surprise me once again. Seriously, most companies I know would have fire their tech guys by now with all the problems associate with the website. But then, I guess if consumers are willing to put up with it, they won't have any desire to fix it.

  8. Anyone else notice that the canvas boardwalk city tote went UP in price? I swear it used to be 50 something.

  9. Not sure why it isn't working. I've always searched by key word or item number though and at least that still works.

  10. Heck, I wasn't even getting this green screen. JCrew's SERVER forbid me from even entering their site yesterday. I know it is their problem to...IT hubby. After 9 hours of this Forbidden crap-- and this happened right in the middle of checking out with 12 items--I had to unplug and reset my moden. JCrew really needs to fix their IT issues. I know people keep saying this but I really mean it. Yesterday pissed me off so much I wrote them and email. After I spend my rewards card I am taking at least a 3 month break from JCrew...there is more to life than continued putting up with their crap. I guess you guys are truly more dedicated than me to JCrew but after 6 years of steady shopping I have more than enough clothes and since the quality it truly decreasing and I am not a glutton for punishment I am saying "bye" for a bit. Can you tell yesterday was the straw that broke the camel's back.

  11. Just noticed that the sale section sign says that the Extra 30% off ends Friday now :)

They extended it (it was supposed to end today).

  12. Didn't this start happening right after the Presidential Inauguration? Maybe they messed something up continuously trying to get it back up and running that day...sad that they just keep breaking it more instead of fixing it. With all the resources Mickey has, I find it hard to believe that he can't call in someone to actually fix it once and for all...hard to imagine what the logic behind all of this could possibly be. It just doesn't seem like good business sense at all.

  13. The only way I can view J Crew items at all is when I start up in safe mode. And to think I thought it was on MY end and I started backing up files to wipe-out/reinstall my whole system.

  14. Did you mean "pourquoi" or "por que"? (No snark intended.)

  15. Yes, all my bookmarks no longer work. Even if you try to put they style number in it will not work.
I do agree on the quality this season. I purchased one of the new print Jackie Cardi's in bright sun this past week at my local B&M. I keep going back and looking at it. It is so thin and for the price $88 I cant get past the quality issue. It reminds me of the Jackie Cardi that you get from the factory store. I'm pretty sure that I am going to return it due to the fact I think it will get a hole in it or pull so easily.

  16. Hi just venting to my fellow JCA's. I recently & all of a sudden was unable to access my J. Crew Account even with the password resets was unable to access my account. As a result have had to place several orders over the phone. My last order turned out to be a complete horror. I ordered a Quincy tote it was $129.99 plus an additional 20%, however it turned out to be almost $170. I received a FedEx package withthe Quincy tote folded, twisted & bent without any packaging, tissue or even inside the tote stuffing. It was final sale & it looks like I bought it from a flea market or garage sale. Very disappointed. I called to get the adjustment and was promised by two CA's they would adjust it & they didn't. I'm now waiting for another CA that promised to adjust the price. No offer was made to return the item. Oh well :) Thanks for listening.

  17. Oh forgot to mention in previous post that not even the sales slip was include. Maybe I was charged for a different handbag. Who knows it turned out to be a monumental pain and quite a disaster.

  18. Not only bookmarks, but it looks like J Crew has been blocked in my entire country! I've tried 7 different computers and 7 different places, and the site tells me that Im not authorized to view the page. I can only assume it's for the entire country (Im in Asia).
    Booo Hisssssss

  19. IRL-with as many times as this has been mentioned & redeemed (qty determination guidelines), I guarantee this JCA "feature" will be soon be removed. They read this blog. They DO NOT want us knowing how many--they have trained their CRS reps to not disclose the amounts avail. I have had this actual conversation with reps before. They often keep repeating it is just low qty but never say HOW many--so i Asked them and they are not supposed to reveal the actual amt. It allows us to WAIT to make a purchase-they obviously do not want that.

I think it stinks that if they are indeed working on the various things mentioned--it is my opinion that those things are the LEAST of their worries with their website right now. I know everyone agrees with that!

  20. Oh and Anon 10:48am...

I can tell you where that bag would be going if it were mine--straight to Mickey with a note about the garbage he is allowing to be re-released out of nasty returns and the horrible lack of follow-up by customer service. Why would you even THINK of putting up with that nonsense--either send it to him or at least return it to the store for a FULL refund. You deserve more than a refund for the time and trouble already spent IMO.

  21. Anony with the crappy bag,

That would be enough to make me never shop online at JCrew again. You need to talk to somone higher. Email Mickey with the order number and it will likely go to his assistent but you will get a refund in full--mark my words or a new bag.

  22. Anon @ 8:52: I love this blog and mean no offense to the long-suffering Alexis, but oof, mangled foreign languages are like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. I've pulled up the blog a couple times this morning and the editor in me wants so badly to change it to "pourquoi" (or "por que," as you note). But I'm also miffed by newspapers' incorrect use of apostrophes, so I imagine I'm in the minority. ;)

  23. This is unforgivable! The end of the world as we know it!

  24. Anon at 8:52 AM & quelqu'un qui parle francais: I actually meant to use "por qua". :) I didn't mean to offend anyone- so I removed it. Incidentally, I speak Spanish fluently. ;)

  25. Hi JCAs!
I heard on NBC News tonight that since the inauguration the J. Crew website traffic has increased 400%!!!!! I kind of wish the First Lady didn't wear J. Crew, now there is going to be more competition for the great deals. :) Of course, the good news is that at least J. Crew will stay in business, they have a lot more customers now.

  26. FYI - You can get the style number off of your bookmark still. Go to Properties of your bookmark and it is at the end. Example (in bold) of the Lille heavy wool pique coat:

    http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Navigation/Sale/AllProducts/PRDOVR~99135/99135.jsp

Also, everyone needs to let the CS know about the issue when you call in to place an order, etc. The one I talked w/ tonight said she hadn't heard about it; the more we pester, maybe they'll fix it?

Long shot concerning how terrible the website is in general, but you know ... here's hoping!
