Dear FFM: Help Put Together A J.Crew Outfit For Me

FabulousFloridaMommy (FFM) regularly guest blogs on outfits she creates with items that you, the members, request. :)
FFM has done it yet again! A big "thank you!" to FFM, who has created a fabulous outfit for numerous requests on styling J.Crew's "new arrivals" in the "Dear FFM: Help Put Together A J.Crew Outfit For Me" post!

To view the wonderful sets, click on the links below. (The name of the link relates to the request for an outfit.)
Are there any items from J.Crew (that you either own or are thinking about getting) that you would like FFM to create outfit ideas. Feel free to include additional info like: the climate/season you want to wear the item/outfit, as well as age bracket/lifestyle. :) After a few days, FFM will select a few items (from the feedback) to create a couple of Polyvore outfits with those items (which will then be posted for all).

What J.Crew pieces do you often wonder how to use in an outfit? What J.Crew items would you like to see an outfit created for (please include item name or item number)? Do you have any J.Crew items in your closet that you are unsure how to style with? Please, let us know! :)

  1. Very nice job as usual and cute blog. Requests for next time, please: classic cashmere cardi in bright fuschia, to wear to the office. Trying for a something a little more interesting than a black cami, skirt or pant to go with. Also, some ideas for one of the ivory wool pencil or a-line skirts. Thanks!

  2. Nice job as usual.

O/T Sharon Case on the Y&R wears alot of JC, today she had on the Boyfriend Cashmere Cardi in Blade Green with a white ruffled shirt with the gold metalic belt with jeans it looked really cute together. The blade green is bright!

  3. confetti bateau top: I know I can wear this by itself and with shorts in the summer but I am looking for other ways to wear this in fall/winter and/or spring...casually. I prefer to wear flats or sandals. I am 39 and live in a moderate 32-65 degree year round climate:)
    Thanks:)

  4. Thank you cass and casual-crew! It was fun working with some of the New Arrivals this past week, too. :)

Cass: I will definitely make a set for you this week, but in the meantime I will suggest that you try Bright Blue, Navy Blue, Honey Glaze, Heather Acorn or Heather Wheat, Camel, and Charcoal Gray with the Bright Fuschia. Also, try the Ivory Wool Pencil Skirt with a Honey Glaze cami/tank or Honey Glaze Jackie Shell, the Bright Fuschia Cardi, and Gold Accessories...or a Bright Blue Cami/Tank/Jackie Shell, the Ivory Pencil Skirt, Bright Fuschia Cardi and Silver Accessories...let me know what you think. :)

Do you own the Victoria Cami in Bright Fuschia? If so, try it with the Cardi and Ivory pencil skirt, too.

  6. FFM: I have noticed that you have many outfits created with the Favorite Fit Cord Pants with the trouser leg, and was wondering if you think these pants run TTS or large (the chinos seem to run large). Also, any outfit ideas with the Penny jacket in Honey Glaze? Thanks!!

  7. I love love the garden olive cami with the avocado Melanie. Question FFM, which colors of the cashmere heirloom henley would the garden olive Victoria go with besides the golden gyprus?

  8. OT: So today I wear my gray herringbone bella to work with a mint green turtleneck and charcoal gray dress pants. I wore my hair up in a ponytail so you could see the collar. The first comment I get is are you cold. I say no, it's a blazer, not a coat. Then the person asks if the collar is supposed to be up like that. I told him yes and he walked away. Has anyone else gotten questions about the collar when wearing their bella? It irritated me for some reason. Ok, thanks for listening to my rant.

  9. OT: I just saw a photo of America Ferrera wearing the French Serge Day coat (I think that's what it is called) while filming an episode of "Ugly Betty".

  10. Anon@9:00 - the JC employees wear the collar up, so I think you're doing it right. Just ignore the fashion-challenged. ;-)

FFM: Fabulous job as usual! I still vote for the Watercolor floral Madison dress (96102) and the Lucia jacket (Italian (90816) and python print (91295)).

  11. FFM - I love the cashmere with the Pembridge-dot pencil skirt sets! I also love the Maggie jacket with the Pembridge-dot skirt set.

The dotted Victoria cami with the blue cardi or blue pencil skirt is sharp! I will have to try that color combo. I also like the pink Victoria cami with the honey glaze cardi.

    Always a hit!

  12. Dear FFM,

I think I had requests every time this topic was posted on the blog, sorry!

Instead of making sets, could you just give some suggestions on:

    1. Brushstroke rose bateau top (93621)
2.Soirée jacket in dark kelly (96125)
    3. Katie sweater jacket in navy (92958)?

    TIA

  13. FFM: Is the Merino turtleneck in Snow that you included in one of your Maggie looks very sheer? I am thinking about purchasing it, but I am afraid it is see-through. Would you mind describing the weight/sheerness of the Merino turtlenecks?
    Thank you very much!

  14. Alexis, I think you should do an entry on Michelle Obama on the Tonight show last night! She was wearing a fabulous outfit from J. Crew, and even talked about how she shops there! Love it!!

  15. I've found that every season there are items I love that don't seem to be too popular (ecole) or items that seem very popular on this blog but just don't do it for me (tartine and victoria cami/shirt.) Maybe we could have a post saying what items a person likes that haven't seemed to popular and what items seem very popular that somebody personally doesn't like.

  16. FFM: Could you put together an outfit with the Golden Roses Renee Coat?

  17. Love the way you styled the victoria dot print cami -- it was delivered to me today and I was disappointed - same as the victoria white ruffle shirt, neither of them fit me very well. I fit almost perfectly into anything size 2/4/small by JCrew and the victoria shirt and cami both feel too wide. I got the shirt for my wife too and I think it will fit her better and look better on her because she "fills out" shirts more than I do :)

  18. Ffm please please the audrey dress with winter shoes! I had to plead again, this is the third time I've mentioned it and it didn't make it the last two sets

  21. FFM: I hope its not too late for requests. I recently purchase the lydia in orange. While it is a beautiful blouse in a gorgeous color, I don't have a clue as to what to wear it with. Please help! TIA!

  22. leanne - thanks for the heads up about the Victoria. You can never tell how anything will fit nowadays! Some people have mentioned that it fits a less loosely than the Lydia and Elizabeth. Did you find that to be the case?

  23. FFM: How about the tafetta a-line skirt in any of the colors (or all).

    Thanks

  25. I just got the green victoria last night and tried it with the ivory maggie. Fabulous!

  26. More super sets from FFM! great job!
About the fit of the Victoria cami - I did think it was a little "wide" in the body. Needed to go down one size. I have broad shoulders and a skinny body, so I usually size down with camis from JC.

  27. I will definitely miss FFM's sets while this blog is on vacation!

  28. I wanted to give a quick review on the maggie jacket i received yesterday (sorry, didn't know where else i could add this and figured some ppl might appreciate the feedback).

so i ordered this in blk sz0, which is my usual size. I have to say that the hand feel of the fabric is very nice, nicer than my herringbone ecole or last year's lexington imo. The jacket was fitted on me, which i think would mean that other might find that it fits small. Just to give some point of reference, last season's lexington was a perfect fit for me but the shoulder was a tad too wide. Anyhow, I definitely feel that the armpit was a little tighter than I would've liked. The jacket is definitely canot be worn as a coat as others have mentioned. The jacket hits me below my waist (it covers the waistband of my jeans). The double collar isn't too noticeable, at least not on the black. When worn, imo front looks quite ordinary but the back button and pleating details definitely adds a great touch, i love looking at it from the side and the back. I think anyone who's considering it, should definitely get it, it is a great jacket. If it goes on sale, i would probably get it either in pink or the yellow.

  30. Anon @8:10 am: Unfortunately I have not been able to try on the Favorite Fit Trouser Cords since they are Catalog/JCrew.com only. I would suggest calling CS for exact measurements of the size in question...is it possible for you to purchase 2 sizes and then return the one that doesn't fit?

  31. Roxy: I made a Polyvore set for you with my color combination suggestions Click Here .
