Darlings, is it time for a J.Crew coupon code?

A big "thanks!" to Lesley who shared with us this email from J.Crew announcing the private sale (mentioned in this post) with the promo code PRIVATESALEOCT for 20% off $175+. This promotion is also valid for in-store purchases. Just click on the image above (to take you to a larger image of the picture) and print a copy (with the bar code so the store associate can scan it). :)

"Thanks!" also to Maria who let us know that J.Crew is offering free shipping on orders of $150+ with promo code F10H7C. This offer expires 10/16/08.

Also, at InStyle there was another offer involving promo code SHOPNOW, which is also to take 20% off $175+. This offer should also expire 10/13/08.

{happy shopping!}

  1. Hi I am new to this blog and think it's great! Got a quick question - I just made a purchase yesterday, the order has been released but not shipped - is it possible to apply this 20% code retrospectively at all?

    ReplyDelete
  2. Call CS and politely request they apply the 20% off code. If you get a meanie, email CS. They have obliged my two requests recently, via phone and email.

  3. Anonymous at 8:43AM: I agree with Anon at 8:49AM's suggestion with calling J.Crew's customer service. It doesn't hurt to call and ask if they would apply the discount. However, just keep in mind that you may or may not get the discount applied. :)

  5. okay i'm getting really anxious my order placed on wednesday morning before 9am is still in open status...i have a feeling i'm going to get a couple cancellations on this order. eek.

  6. Any Canadain JCrew fans worried by our plunging dollar - I am saddened that I won't be able to shop JCrew as freely as I did so far. I hope JCrew start giving store-incentives to Canadians or finally open a store in Canada. I am quite sad about all this.

  7. anyone else notice that it doesn't say anything about not using it on final sale stuff? wonder if they would combine the 20% off in stores with this???

    ReplyDelete
  8. it works on sale stuff online!

  9. anonymous @ 9:23. Not to worry, watch the sale rack and buy there. Also I think the dollar will go back up again, maybe not to par, but back into the 90 cent range.

  10. I just placed my order using the "privatesaleoct" code - THANKS !!
My savings was $38, but the shipping was $15 - UGH !!

Could I have stacked the free shipping code with the "privatesaleoct" code??

  11. Thanks for the encouragement J_Crew Guy in Canada - I've gotten so dependent on buying JCrew that the thought of it being significantly more expensive per order (I order a lot..) made me feel like - oh no, back to boring store shopping in Canada. I do hope the dollar goes back up. I often wonder if with all us loyal Canadian shoppers, is Jcrew even considering a Canadain store. BR is staring Candain on-line next fall -yeh, and BrooksBrothers is opening a store. I hope JCrew is next.
Alexis - thanks for this great blog that I've just revently found!

  12. I still have an order from Wed. morning that is Open. It is the Simone sweater and there are plenty of them in stock so I think things are just SLOW as USUAL!

I now place online orders at JCrew on final sale stuff with the expectation that I will not get the stuff. (sad I know) but if I do then I am happy. It is the only way not to be continuely disappointed.

  13. Hi! Could give me some advice? I really like the Metallic Daisy dress in hibiscus shade (item #91141) from the past spring. But as I live in Mallorca (Spain), I can't check the fitting in person.

Anyone here has got this dress? Do you like it? How does it fit?

    I usually wear a 4 in dresses, I'm 5'1'' tall, 36C bust and a 2 in JC pants.

THANK YOU GIRLS! I LOVE THIS BLOG!

  14. Hi ladies!
Just wanted to let you know of a couple of stores here with LOTS of sale stuff...

First, the Brea (CA) store has TONS of sale stuff. Too much to list, but lots of Fionas, pants, Belle skirts, silky jersey tops, vintage cord skirts (all three colors), dream silvie dresses, plus a few Tartine sweaters and lydia blouses. They had more but this is what I can remember.

Second, the Costa Mesa (CA) store has lots of sale stuff as well, though not as much as Brea. One thing to note...they had lots of the Abstract Rose dress when I was there on Tues. It is now $109.99, so it comes to just under $88 with final sale discount. I had bought it at full price last weekend and got $89 back with a price adjustment - yea!

Both stores are offering 20% off final sale (as of yesterday). Remember, these stores are three hours behind you East Coast gals. I hope this helps!!

  15. Isla: I have that dress and it fits very true to size. Order your regular dress size and you should be fine. Good luck!

  16. Off Topic- I just got my mail and I received the Holidays issue!!! Can I scan the pages and post it here? They have the serge skirt in new colors!!!

  17. maybe i'm right - The short answer is that stacking has been eliminated as far as we all know.

jcrewguy - I appreciate your positive outlook! It's easy to get trapped up in what the media is dishing out. Of course we are in a crisis but I think the media is very excited to have lots to report on and they are milking it for all its worth. Some fabulous adjectives (plunging, battered, etc..) are being employed these days, impacting our worries.

  18. Question for you guys:

I have checked the order status on a few things I ordered this week (both final sale and regular-priced merchandise). There are a few that have tracking numbers listed, but that still list the order status as "open". Does this mean it's going to ship today, it just hasn't actually gone yet? Or do you think the items on that order could still potentially be cancelled, regardless of the tracking number in the order status?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Anon at 12:35 PM: Congrats on getting the catalog!!! :)

If you scan the images and send them to me (email:

  21. Does anyone know (or has anyone tried) using this with the student discount?

    Thanks!

    Jen

(Or, in-store, with the sale discount, this discount AND the student discount?) Times are tought for students!! I'm thinking about heading to the store to try, but wanted to see if anyone else has had luck.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Jen, I tried using this discount and emailing for the student discount, but they said the promotions couldn't be used together... Someone one another post wrote that if when they were denied, they wrote back saying that they had been given both discounts in store, so I'm trying that now.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think there should be FAQ portion on this blog to address repeat questions (can I stack codes, what does "open/released" mean on order status, how do I get them to apply the student discount to apply on an online order, etc.) That way the same questions don't have to be repeatedly answered in each post?

    ReplyDelete
  24. gigiofca- I agree with you. The media is fueling this meltdown. they just can't stop themselves. They overblow things to the point that their reporting causes events that they then report on. They are creating news with their own actions. I also blame the media for the proliference of the 'I'm a victim' and 'I'm offended' culture, where people gain leverage and power over others by claiming to be hurt in some way.

Sorry. I've lost my house down payment in this crisis, and I'm hurting.

    Steps off soapbox.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anon at 1:30 PM: I think a FAQ section is great! I will work on it.

For now, on the right hand side of the main page, there are two links under the educator & teacher discounts to help members find answers on those topics. :)

Covert5: If you are interested, the entire September catalog is available in this post: JCrew Catalog: Did You Get A Copy?. The October catalog is available on J.Crew's site: October Catalog. It's too bad J.Crew doesn't leave up the older catalogs.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anon & Jen: I was the one who said that I simply emailed CS saying I would have been able to get both discounts in a store. I made the point that I was frustrated with the inconsistencies, and they wrote back giving me the discount. It certainly doesn't hurt to ask! Good luck!

  27. Alexis -- are you going to be able to post images from the new catalog ?!

I am so excited to see them!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anon at 1:54 PM: I haven't received the new catalog yet. However, if someone sends me the images of the catalog- I will be sure to post them. :)

Also, if I get mailed the catalog over the weekend- I will post it when I get it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Alexis,
The FAQ idea makes me thinking that it will be very helpful to have a link as the one under “Current Offers & Sweepstakes” and name it as "Aficionada Fit Guide (or whatever the right word is)". In this section, there is a summary of all items have been talked in your blog with the real life fitting information, such as item # or name, tts or size down or size up in general. It is only a suggestion. I know it is a huge job. Thanks for listening. Love your Blog.

  33. anon @ 843am: The return policy on the website states price adjustments can be made if it is within 7 days of purchase or ship date. Good Luck!

  34. Erica-

Yes, every order from the red phone gets free shipping, regardless of whether it's one sale, bought with a discount, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Did anybody notice the following term: "Mass distribution and/or
promotion of this offer by any means, including, but not limited to, electronic transmission, is strictly prohibited."

    ReplyDelete
  36. Marta - I looked at my private sale email, and it had the same language, which made me go back and look at my other promotional emails from J.Crew. My most recent free shipping and 20% off final sale items emails didn't have that language, and neither did the private suiting sale email from September or the 20% off private sale email from March (in fact, they contained this language: "If you received this email from a friend and would like to subscribe to our email list, click here."). However, my most recent 20% off private sale emails, including today's, September's, and July's, did contain this new language. It's in tiny print though, and I'd never noticed it before. Plus it seems like they're only using it for certain promotions. How strange.

  37. Can anyone let me know how the Frankie camisole fits? Might run large given that what is left on final sale are large sizes!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Has anyone tried using this 20% off discount when calling from the store - to also get free shipping?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anon @ 3:22, I think you are mistaken. Only full price items have been getting free red phone shipping, since July I think. But if they are full price and you use a coupon, you still do get free shipping.

Erica, if it's important to you to get free shipping, call the store first and ask them before going there.

    ReplyDelete
  40. AT the end of September, I ordered a sweater from the red phone and it was on sale. I got the additional 40% off and free shipping. Maybe it depends on who you get on the phone!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Has anyone been able to use the private sale email along with the final sale 20% discount? The email says you can't combine promotions but doesn't say the offer is only good on full priced items.

    ReplyDelete
  42. My last red phone order was a sale item and I had to pay shipping. However, I had a cs tell me on the phone (on a previous call) that all items were free shipping from the red phone. So, I agree that it depends on who you talk to.

  43. maggiemay, the Franky cami is kind of a mess, which I think is why it was in FS forever. Because of the straps and the crisscross and the elastic under the bust, it's not very supportive, and if you want to wear a bra under it, you'd totally see it. However, if you were just purchasing to wear under a cardigan it would probably be fine. I found it to also run big.

  44. To Anon at 12:35 pm, please do send your catalog scan to Alexis! I would love to see the new pics! :-)

  45. Anon @ 4:25, I used the last 20% off $175 coupon (about a month ago) at my b&m. My order included a FS item which had an additional 20% off promo, and when I asked if the 20% off coupon also applied to the FS item, they said yes. I ended up getting the additional 20%off, plus another 20% off by using the coupon. Good Luck!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Re: anon at 3:22 PM and others:
I am an associate and the official J. Crew policy is that only full-priced and promotional items receive free shipping on the red phone and for sale items you will be charged shipping. Promotional as in matchstick cords are $69.50 instead of $79.50 and sale as in $39.99 with an additional 20% off. However, if you order any sale items with just 1 full priced item, shipping will be waived. Apparently it depends on the rep you get on the phone, but official policy goes against free shipping for sale items. I know if it is a long-standing customer service issue, shipping is sometimes waived, but don't count on it. Happy shopping!

  47. Rockaway, NJ had no percentage off final sale today, while Short Hills had 20%. Go figure.

  48. Anonymous @ 1:39 - Good point that the reporting causes more events that they then report on. Ugh! I am so sorry to hear that you directly suffered as a result of everything that's going on. Think of money as a tide. It ebbs and flows. It will come back. It always does. My dad told me that when I was 12 and I didn't believe it. However, I have countless stories supporting his statement. I am a freelancer so I always have to keep my mind on the positive. I highly recommend that attitude. ;-) Good luck and wishing prosperity to come back your way better than you could have imagined.

Christina - Sadly, it seems that the online status does not accurately reflect what's going on in the warehouse. It's a waiting game. I placed an order in Aug, and received it quickly. However, I never had a tracking number and it was 30+ days for my card to be charged. Crazy. Good luck.

Anon @ 3:22 - I agree with beachbum. I think they were more lenient at the height of the internet fiasco. I think you're going to have to pay for shipping unless the item is FP. I have also heard of people being charged shipping on sale items but not being charged shipping on full price items -- all in the same order.

Anon @ 4:25 & Marietta - I was in a b&m today and purchased all final sale (FS) items. The SA read the legalese on the email and said he didn't know if it would work or not on top of the addtl 20% on FS. He rang everything up and the coupon scanned an additional 20% off. I was very happy because I didn't know if I'd be so lucky.

  52. I went to the J Crew located at 30 Rockefeller Center New York, NY 10022 to find that the whole store was 20% off. I was told by the clerk that I could still use my private sale 20% off discount. I purchased $177.63 worth of items (white ruffle cardigan, sparkle argyle sweater, and skinny silver metallic belt). The clerk informed me that I would be eligible for the 40% off discount, but she had trouble with her cash register. The manager, by the name of Justin, very rudely interjected that I would have to "buy way more than just that" to be eligible for the 20% off $175 discount. I explained that since I was purchasing $177.63, I would be eligible. Then he could apply the general 20% off store coupon, which was what two different store clerks had previously said. He rudely told me that I was wrong and told me to buy more and then come back with the coupon. I was so insulted I walked out without purchasing anything.

The manager's name is Justin and he is a complete jerk!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. anon @ 6:44 -- Could it be that you had to spend $175 AFTER the in-store 20% off in order to be able to use your additional 20% off coupon?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Anon @ 6:44: I'm sorry to hear about your experience with one of the Managers.

Although I live in Canada, I shop at the Rockefeller Store regularly. After your post, I contacted the Manager whom I normally deal with to find out the real scoop on the discount.

She advised that the entire store is 20% off just like you said. They are offering the Private Sale at the store - meaning you do not need to use a coupon in order to get the 20% discount. I asked if I could use the 20% discount I received via email in addition to their store discount and was told no. The email I received is the promo at being offered at the store. In other words, I could not double up on my discount.

However, she did tell me that Final Sale is an additional 20% off. So, if I purchased Final Sale merchandise, I would automatically get 20% off my final sale purchases and IF my FS purchases totalled more than $175, I could then use the Private Sale Coupon.

Does this make sense? I hope it does.

Again, I'm sorry to hear about your horrible experience. I believe there's always a gentle way to delivery policy. Obviously his way wasn't very successful with you.

    ReplyDelete
  55. anon @ 6:30,

I wouldn't recommend ordering a size down on the brewsters. I bought a size 7 and I normally wear a 6-6/12. They fit very comfortably and there's enough room to wear with my skinny jeans. Hope this helps!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Associates at KOP are being stingy with the student discount. You used to be able to use it with anything that was not final sale, like things on "promotion." You can't do that anymore. I tried to use it with the Private Sale coupon and they wouldn't let me. What a bummer :(

    ReplyDelete
  57. I went to the Menlo Park store in Edison and used the red phone. As of yesterday, they still had 50% off final sale. I ordered the Simone jacket and the Super 120s dress in royal violet. I paid $74.99 for each; therefore, I won't even bother with the measly 20% off or all of the difficulty surrounding the percentage off. Why should it be so complicated? I did ask about exchanging the Super 120s dress if it's too small or large, and the CS agreed. The measurements for that dress seem way off! Ask before you order! Good luck!

  59. I'm at the Rock NY store at least once a week (always purchasing). I have had some of the worst customer service there and i swear it's because it's such a crowded NY store which to me is not an excuse. Some SA actually had the nerve to tell me they had a "meeting" saying that the student discount would no longer be honored with the FS discount. The catch is I had purchased an item earlier that day and nothing had been mentioned. She was VERY short with me but I bought my things anyway. I have purchased maybe 10 times since then with no trouble using my student discount with the FS discount. I much prefer to shop at my parents house...the Chester and Rockaway NJ stores have the most DARLING sales reps!! They seriously bend over backwards for me even if it's to get me my $4 rosette belt in camel black over the red phone! BTW Alexis, my boyfriend says this blog is my new "family." I don't post too often but I read every post and comment :) and appreciate all the wonderful information everyone shares! I seriously tell coworkers about new outfits FFM has posted and my whole office just thinks they are lovely!! Thanks for everything!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I have never been a fan of the Rock Center store. Because of the volume of shoppers it is almost always messy. If you are in NYC, try Fifth Ave. They usually have as much merchandise and much better service.

  63. Anybody has the Silky jersey pleated top in bright rhubarb? Is the color like the other bright rhubarb? I'm asking because the picture shows like it's a fuscia. Also, this top run true to size? Thanks...

FFM: I remember a while ago you mentioned that there was a top that you highly recommended it...Was it the Silky jersey pleated top? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  64. ny0311 - I have the silky jersey pleated in a few colors, but not the bright rhubard. I feel that it is TTS, but I think others have felt the need to size down. It's a top that has a little bit of volume and not meant to be fitted, imo.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Anyone know if the hammered silk will go on sale? I only see black on sale for 59.99-I like the dark slate although I'm not sure how similar it actually is.

    ReplyDelete
  66. anon @ 10:19 -- Dark slate is a very dark grey. Almost black. When I ordered a slate in dark slate, I could have sworn it was black. Having said that, why would you want to get dark slate if it's not on sale but black is?? Bright rhubarb is also on sale..

    ReplyDelete
  67. gigiofca: thanks for your comments on the pleated top! Just curious- What colors do you have? I am thinking of buying two or three different colors.

  72. I called Rockaway on Friday, October 10. They informed me that they no longer had 50% off and, that as far as they knew, 50% off sales was over in all the stores that had offered it. However, other stores that have 20% off sales items are also honoring the 20% off coupon for purchases over $175. So, not all hope is lost for those who were planning to make large purchases. Does anyone have any info about stores still offering 50%?

    ReplyDelete
  73. A few things:
Free shipping according to company policy applies only to full priced items, not FS.
The silk top is on sale but online offers only the black. Dark slate is a beautiful versitile color that you will find works with all of your questionable colors. Happy shopping!

  74. St at 8:12: What does the super 120s dress fit like? Is it larger or smaller than stated? Thanks! I've been eyeing this dress but still am not sure if I'd wear it.

    ReplyDelete
  75. super 120s dress fits oddly, IMHO. Long story--had to try three sizes and still have major alteration. Based on my experience, the dress runs short amd wide--recommend sizing down and not ordering P unless you are truly a P.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Pleated Silky Tanks are big--size down.

I have it all colors but the deep persimmon. I love the rhubarb--it is true to color IMO. It's a pinky red. Size down.

I heard the long sleeve version is huge but haven't tried it myself.

    ReplyDelete
  77. The 3/4 sleeve Luxe knit top, item 96810, is cut fuller than the sleevless pleated top. I just held the size XS pleated tank over the size S 3/4 sleeve pleated top and it looks like the 3/4 sleeve pleated top is double the size! I'm going to tuck it in anyway so I can live with it.

I had to get my regular size small in the luxe knit top because the 3/4 length sleeves were way too tight! They remind me of the sleeves on the brushed fleece popover hoodie from holiday 2007. If you have any extra baggage in the upper arm area, size up. If you're stick arms, you're fine with sizing down. They're marked down in stores to 20% off $39.99 = $31.99.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I love the luxe knit top. I tried on a smaller size, and while I didn't have arm problems, I didn't notice that it was tight across the back (possibly b/c I am larger chested). So, I went with my normal sweater size - I normally size up in the fitted tees. I tried on the top that ffm recommended, but it was HUGE even after sizing down so I didn't get it.

    ReplyDelete
  79. oops - I mean I DID notice that it was tight across the back.

    ReplyDelete
  80. COVERT5 - the italian boucle skirt in honey glaze is back on the FS page in a size 4!!! I don't have your email address, otherwise I would email you. Good luck!

  81. Does anyone have either the Julianne or Matilda dresses? Opinions? I'd tempted, but scared by the FS aspect...

    ReplyDelete
  82. Anon 11:15 - I found the sizing on the Julianne to be problematic, as in the top was too big and the bottom was TTS/a little small(kind of like this summer's Josie dress). The wide scoopneck leaves a lot of room up top, and kind of goes even more off-the-shoulder than on the model.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I am sooo sad because I really wanted the Tartine in black but my PS didn't even know that the cardigan existed and told me "Sorry but I can't help you with that". I know its online but I don't want to pay full price for it when I know its on sale at other b&ms. I have read before that the CS isn't buying the offer about people calling in and saying some b&m's are sold out of the items and buying it at the sale price. Can someone help me with this dillema? Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Thanks Silver lining, I just got back from my local store where they had some Julianne's. I got to try them on in 4 and 6, and it just didn't seem to have any shape to it. But I did get a pair of high heel flare jeans for $32, a bow tissue tank for $7 and a marcella blouse for $30. I ordered the giraffe coat at the checkout- I told the SA I didn't want it if i couldn't apply the 20% store discount plus my 20% private sale coupon, and they seemed to say it would work but the CS associate on the phone said it was $103. If I get it and the receipt doesn't show that the 2nd discount was applied, I might insight on them taking it back. Though it's also sold out online so maybe I'll want it anyway...

  86. ny0311 - You're welcome. I have dark slate, I think it's called. It's a dark grey. I also have deep persimmon (orange-y) and black. I think I also have it in sour lemon. Sea salt is on its way in the mail. I am a 34C, usually wear S and got S. I feel it runs TTS. I know some people think it has a lot of volume, but I didn't feel that way.

I can't recall seeing the lydia blouse in bright saffron, but I have the bright rhubarb and I saw the orange color. They're very strong. Very rich like cirque du soleil colors. Not circus-y -- just deep, rich and unmistakably bright, imo. I may be scaring you w/my description, but don't worry. They're not obnoxious.

  87. laura - I got the bow tissue tank, too. It's so cute. I'm glad I didn't buy it at $29.99. I got navy.

The Towson, MD store had black tartine cardigans on FS yesterday. It looked to me like they had plenty. Try calling the store. I have found all associates to be helpful at this store.

  89. ny0311: I have the Silky jersey pleated top in bright rhubarb. It is not like the fuscia. If you held the two colors side by side you'd say fuscia is more pinky and bright rhubarb is more red. I sized down to XS. I have one in size S and can wear it too it's just a little more voluminous, but I do prefer the fit of the size XS better.

  91. Can anyone let me know how I can check how much inventory they have for a particular item online (like if there's only one left in stock)? thanks!

  92. I just placed an order and used the 20% code. I called in instead of ordering online. I tried to give them the free shipping code . . . she said only one code can be used. I pleaded and finally she cut the shipping costs in half!! woo-hoo! It was worth the try :)

Has anyone noticed the states are not in alpha-order on JC's site? The states are in alpha-category, state's beginning with 'M' are grouped together, but not alphabetized.

  94. I used my coupon to order the Juliet heels in driftwood. Used the red phone and got free shipping. My store had every color but driftwood!

I also got the green boucle jacket. I LOVE it. It was $150.00 w/ the 20% off sale. It had originally been $275.00.

  95. anon @ 2:50: many times when I think an item may be low in stock, I type in the max amount in "quantity" (usually 99) and then whatever they have in stock will show up in your cart when you add it. I've found it to be pretty accurate...I once ordered a pair of jeans when it was showing as the last pair available, and I ended up getting them. Hope this helps!

  96. Just an update on FS and this current 20% off coupon: I was at the Santa Fe store today and stocked up on over $250 worth of FS. When I got to the counter, they used my coupon, but didn't give me the FS 20% off. When I asked why, the sa and manager both said that they can only use one coupon/promotion at a time. I let them know that many of my "virtual" friends have received both offers on FS this weekend and they still said no. I wrote to CS when I got home and they replied within an hour and let me know that under no circumstances can this coupon be used with the FS 20% off. I was peeved that I drove 60 miles to go this store when I could have just ordered online. Also, what's with the stores having things on FS that are still full price on the web??? Ridiculous business practice. I'm going to take a little break for JC for a while. Thanks for letting me vent!!

  97. On sizes, for ny0311 and others:

I got the silky jersey pleated top. I usually wear a small in sweaters and tanks but got xs due to ffm's comments. She was right. It runs big. . . and long. Shorter women may want to get it hemmed. But the fabric's great.

The Juliet heels are gorgeous, but I think they run a half size small. I can usually wear a 7 in j. crew shoes, but these were way too tight. I'd do what audrey says, get a half size up and add an insole if there's still room.

  98. Thanks everyone on the feedback regarding the silky pleated top!

I bought the tartine cardigan on sale today...I was able to use the FS 20%, plus the 20% for spending$175, AND my educator's discount. It was great.

One of the items I bought was the herrington cardigan with a flower near the collor. There were no signs that they had a promotion on it. It was $128, but at the cash wrap it rang up $88. Another of the secret promotions you don't find out unless you buy them.

  99. Oops, "herringbone"..not "herrington"!!

  100. ny0311: can you tell me what store you shopped yesterday that let you used all three discounts? I'm in a battle with CS who told me "no way". I would love to be able to contact your store directly. Thanks so much!!

    ReplyDelete
  101. I think you are not really supposed to double stack the promotions, never mind triple. Read the fine print at the bottom. To those who were able to do so, that's great. I think they will do that as a 'one time courtesy' if you insist, but no guarantee of success.

But if those who cannot get the double promotions complains about it, I think all it will end up doing is that NOBODY will able to double up the promotions... AND get the stores that do in trouble.

  102. ny0311 - I got the herringbone cardi also for my mom. Christmas gift. In my store they were signed as $88, not on secret promo. The yellow wool cardi, the grey wool cardi and the black herringbone are also at $88.

  103. If the computerized cash register allows both discounts, then how can a store get in trouble for allowing both? If JC doesn't want them both used, then they should program the cash register to not allow both. JMO

    ReplyDelete
  104. Math Teacher: Right on!!! That's my point. Ann Taylor's registers don't allow them to stack, so if JC is so bent on making sure their stores don't allow it, why wouldn't they just program their registers that way. Oh right....they seem to have a little issue with "programming" these days! LOL!!

  105. Leslie & others: I shopped at the Jcrew in Americana, Glendale, CA. I was actually shocked when they told me they had no problems applying the discounts. I wasn't expecting that at all. Last time I used my PS 20% at a different location and they told me that they couldn't apply the educator's discount.

My take is this, the reality is that CS can always stack codes. When they say "the register won't take them," it's more of an excuse. They are simply following rules set in the store, not that the register won't allow them to stack codes.

I agree that consistency is important. That's why when they deny combining codes, I accept that they are simply following their rules. If it's an item I really want, I don't mind not getting that extra 15%. When I do get lucky and they allow me to stack codes, I just feel like a kid at Christmas time!
