J.Crew's Final Sale: Now with 25% Off (Online & In-stores)

As many of you have pointed out in various posts, J.Crew is offering an "additional 25% off" their "final sale" items online. J.Crew also sent an email (with an orange background) announcing that the stores are also carrying the "additional 25% off" sale items (note: Factory stores don't apply here) . The additional percent off sale lasts until Wednesday, June 25, 2008.

This additional sale definitely makes up for the fact that you can't return the items! ;)

  1. The one they sent me is orange and just says the sale is on sale...only in the fine print at the bottom do they say that all sales are final. Tricky, tricky.

  2. Mine also says in is online and in store.

  3. The great thing about the extra 25% off also being in stores is that stores, I believe, don't have the "no returns" policy - at least not that I've ever experienced. Of course, they also don't have the same selection.

Alexis: you mentioned in another reply you also have some of the wool bella jackets- which colors do you have? I first bought it in heather azalea (a color I love) and then also in heather graphite and black. It's a fabulous jacket.

(sorry, I posted this in the wrong category the first time).

  4. Hi All! I'm really happy to see the extra 25% off online, as well...just still wish it wasn't on a Final Sale...sigh. ;)

la belle helene: the 25% off in stores is "supposedly" FINAL, as well, though someone else posted previously that you have the option of buying it at "regular price", thus making the sale NOT final...I've never done that, so I don't know for sure. I WAS told by a store employee that you can exchange your final sale purchase for a different color or size, but cannot return it.

  5. la belle helene: I have the bella jacket in heather graphite and yellow. I get so many compliments on them!

alexis: I just want to say thank you for this fabulous blog--- I LOVE it!

  6. Hi Anonymous at 9:27 & 9:28PM: That is great that the additional percent off extends to in-stores! Thanks for letting us know.:)

Hi La Belle Helene: I think FabulousFloridaMommy is right in that some stores might carry the "final sale" policy as well. It varies between different stores though.

Also, The bella jackets are great! I own the Wool herringbone Bella jacket in the coral color. I own the Double-faced wool Bella coat (in black) as well.

FabulousFloridaMommy: I feel the same way! Happy about the extra 25% off, but wishing the final sale would go away. :)

Nicole R: Thanks for the really nice comment! I appreciate it. :)

  7. The extra 25% was in stores already all weekend long. It was just extended online today till Wednesday. But.. insider secret.. in-store prices are much cheaper compared to online. Items are priced by region in-store compared to one common price online. Stores in areas with extended warmer seasons (Ex. SC, GA, FL) will not have as many "summer" items on sale. Those items will sell through November really.

  8. I am jealous of all of you that have the bella jacket! I have noticed that things are not disappearing from the final sale a quickly as they used to. I highly recommend the lana top if you can still get it. It does fit a little on the big side. I find that I need a 10 in button up tops a 6 in A line dresses but the 8 was flattering. One thing to note is that it is a side zip top and a little on the long side so if you have any curves it may hit you in the wrong place.

  9. Yes, I am jealous you all have the Bella jacket, too! I had wanted to get one when I first saw it, but never got a chance to try one on, and couldn't spend the money at the time. I hope they bring it back!

Has anyone tried on the Jessie blouse? I like it, but worry about the fit. I hope to find it in stores this weekend to try on. It looks sheer and the v looks low. Any opinions?

  10. Hi anon, I haven't tried on the Jesse blouse, but I just took a look at the pic, and you're right - it looks really sheer. It is cute, though :-)

  11. My store in SC did not have 25% off the women's sale on Saturday. Only the men's and crewcuts had the extra percent off. I was very disappointed because I might have bought more. I wish I understood how it's decided which stores carry the different extra percent.

  12. Hi Anonymous at 11:10 AM: I don't understand store pricing (when it comes to sales). I have noticed that J.Crew stores vary in their sale prices: some better than online, some worse than online.

Yogichicki & Anon at 11:47 AM: The bella jackets are nice. A bit itchy (because of the wool), but still nice. I am sure they will be in the sale section again before the summer is over. :)

Math Teacher: I noticed that issue as well: some stores carrying the "additional 25% off" on all items, while some only have it for "mens" and "accessories".

I asked a J.Crew store associate why that was and he told me it depends on the store's profitability and whether or not they are meeting their quota. If the store is doing well, chances are their additional % off sales are more limited to certain items. If the store is not doing well, then their sale section is better.

This makes sense because the J.Crew stores I go to always are super busy and limited in their % off sales. However, some visitors commented on this blog have mentioned that their J.Crew's have additional sales with as much as 50% (which I have yet to see in my stores.) ;)

  13. Interesting about the reasoning for store sales! I only want two little items from the Final Sale. The selection isn't so grand... I'd like some of the swimsuits too, but I just don't feel comfortable with not being able to return them if they don't look right! The last thing I need is to feel even MORE uncomfortable poolside in a ill-fitting swimsuit, haha!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Amy: I totally hear you! Unlike a tee shirt, swimsuits have great variability on how it looks on a person (even when you know your size). That is definitely an item that you can't buy on "final" sale. I am hoping this "final sale" will end soon. :)

  15. I find it funny, or interesting, that even those of us who adore J.Crew seem to pretty much despise the "final sale." I guess it must work for JCrew or the company would cease having such sales, but given how much aversion there is to it, it's too bad the policy isn't changed and it's just made into a regular sale. If only J.Crew knew how much more business they would get!

  16. I just wanted to say that I am now addicted to J.Crew. I stumbled upon this blog quite accidentally; I never really gave J.Crew much thought until I saw all the lovely pictures of the clothes on this site. I went over to jcrew.com and I ended up buying the medium straw beach bag because I was looking for a cute straw bag for the summer. Then I started looking around at the dresses, because I LOVE dresses, particularly in the summertime. I fell in love with the Kayla dress, jersey tank dress, and tie-front jersey dress! I have fallen in love with many items since, and when I saw that I could get an additional 25% off the final sale plus free shipping, I threw caution to the wind. I was turned off that I couldn't return anything, but the prices were so good compared to how they normally are that I went for it.

I have taken to searching for sold-out items on eBay. It really is a terrific resource, if you love an item and know your size. I also figured that if anything from the final sale doesn't work out, I could probably sell it pretty easily (considering that a USED black tie-front dress still I saw there went for about $50.).

Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for keeping this blog ... I have already bookmarked it and I'm sure I will check it daily!

  17. I've noticed that some of the items that are final sale (aka eligible for the extra 25%) only contain a few less than popular sizes. However if you find the item via the item search/google, there are additional sizes available at the sale price, but don't get the extra 25% off. sneaky. I noticed this with a few pairs of heels I was going to purchase.

  18. La Belle Helene: You brought up a great point: J.Crew would gain a lot more business if they didn't have a "final sale". :)

Michelle: J.Crew's clothes & accessories are really nice. It sounds like you found some great dresses too! Happy to hear there is another J.Crew Aficionada! ;)

Erin: Other visitors, including myself and FabulousFloridaMommy, have mentioned in other posts about googling items as well as using J.Crew's item search. However, I think it is great to mention again in case someone missed it. ;)

  19. Has anyone tried on the tie-front dress? http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/product.jhtml?id=prod92883153&catId=cat90221

I tried it on in the store and absolutely loved the style, UNTIL I looked at my rear end... The material shows *every* lump and bump. I'm a size 2/4 and tried on a small---the fit was fine, but I seriously think I would have had to go pantiless to be free of any panty lines, and I tell you this dress highlighted bulges in my rear I didn't know I had! Anyone notice this too, and anyone find a solution? A slip maybe?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Anonymous @3:59pm...the Tie-front dress is really cute...maybe you could try it with a Shaper? Spanx and BareNecessities make them, and they are carried by most department stores and mass-retailers (such as Target and Walmart), as well. A full body shaper or hip and thigh shaper would probably work best and give you the "smooth" look you want. :)

  21. I absolutely LOVE this website. Thanks so much, Alexis!

One idea - since the stores vary so much in their sales offers do you think we could start a message board to share what stores have deals going on? I can report for LA, mainly the Grove shopping Center. I was just there this past weekend and they had 20% off. They also had a pretty good selection especially of summer knit dresses. I know not everyone will have time to contribute but it might be fun to hear from our J. Crew spies across the country to hear how much things vary and keep that in mind when we head out to shop!

And also, I was bummed to learn that the J. Crew outlets have clothes specially made for them - of a siginificantly lesser quality. They do get some J. Crew merchandise for their sale racks but mostly it's just previous styles remade in cheaper fabrics. Although, if there's a print you like from the past, you MIGHT find it reborn as a blouse or a cardigan. But again I emphasize, the quality issue is what gets me.

  22. Dear anon at 3:59 p.m. - I ran into this problem with Campo di Fiore dress from this past spring. It was a knit dress, yellow and orange with flowers on it, just so fabulous - and also so unflattering, I thought, when I tried it on and realized I wish they'd spent $20 more on it and lined the darn thing. I bought a shaper, but I still hated how it looked, so I returned both the full-body shaper and the dress.

Curious, now, if anyone else bought the dress and made it work for them? I just felt indecently exposed in it.

  23. Anon @ 3:59: I have the tie-front dress in soft azalea and adore it. I have seriously contemplated getting another in different color... I have found that a non-cotton thong solved any problems with the rear view. It is the perfect dress to wear on the weekend - You can wear it during the day with flip-flops and then switch to a pair of wedges or espadrilles for the evening. Add a cute clutch, and you are good to go! :)

  24. but why would some sizes be available without the final sale 25% off, when others are? I'd prefer to purchase the item at finale sale WITH the 25% off, then just the regular sale without the 25%, but my size isn't available in final sale, just the google search way. Any idea how to find it as a final sale item?

  25. Thanks Anonymous at 4:45 PM for the nice comment! I have posted a few times about sales in-stores, with visitors commenting what "additional percent off" their stores were having. But I think making that a weekly post for people to update, would be a great idea! :)

I will definitely start making it a weekly post. What day of the week do you think it should be posted on? (I am thinking Friday or Saturday, but not sure.)

Erin: One way to get "around" that situation is to call up customer service and let them know that you found the item available in your size/color but the shopping cart didn't reflect the additional 25% off. The cust rep will then place the order for you and honor the 25% off price. :)

  26. I have signed up for the email updates several times AND I am a cardholder, but I STILL don't get the emails (not even in my spam folder) **sigh**

I called the customer service line the other day to make sure they had my email on file...but still no final sale email today : (Does anyone else have this problem?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Jessica that is awful! Besides calling customer service, I am not sure what else you can do. Maybe you can create another email account (for free like with Yahoo!) and sign up again. Hopefully that will work.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Jessica, I am with you! A few months ago, I literally got an email every single day about j.crew. Now, I get one *maybe* once every two weeks, and usually about crewcuts! I've signed up again, so I am not sure why I am not getting more of them, or even why I stopped getting them. They're not in spam either...

  29. I have had a problem with trying to get J.Crew to send me email. I signed up three weeks ago and nothing from them. It gets frustrating to not get emails for promotions and the only way I know about sales and others promotions is if read this wonderful and helpful blog. :)

  30. Finding this forum proved to be dangerous for me.... After posting that question about the knit tie front dress and reading the responses (especially its-a-southern-thing's) I immediately went online and purchased it in Azalea. :) la belle helene's post got me thinking that I could actually have a lining put in (I did love it that much) and the extra 25% off was a draw. Thanks for making me $50 poorer ladies ;)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anon @ 9:25: I hope that you like the tie-front dress. I really think that you will (especially for only $50)! :)

Alexis: I hate to ask something of you since you already do such an amazing job with this blog :), but do you think you could start a "What did you get on sale?" post? I think a lot of us are beginning to get items from the 20% off sale a week ago and would love to hear reviews from others about items that are still on sale! Maybe it could help make final sale a little easier for all of us... And thanks again for bringing us all together! :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anonymoust at 9:25PM: I know what you mean- I have purchased many J.Crew items (that I normally would not) after reading the comments others have made here. :)

It's a southern thing: I think that post idea is great. I will make sure to have it for tomorrow. ;)

  33. Has anyone noticed Hanes (the tshirt co.) makes featherweight tee's similiar to JCrews? Last summer/fall, I checked their site after deciding I felt like I spent too much $ on what were essentially undershirts. Hanes even has the same model JCrew employed a lot last year (who is also in Gaps photo's this year). I never purchased from Hanes.com but just found it interesting.

Did anyone end up purchasing the City-fit buttery twill cargo pant Item 93763? I'm curious to know how other people felt about them.

  34. hey girls - i am new to site and love it! just had to make a comment about sale and how sneaky jcrew was...after spending monday and tuesday filling up my shopping bag, i was ready to check out on wednesday about 9pm. i did one more "peak" at the stuff and realized they ADDED new items to the sale (in that hour before it was done)...has this happened to anyone? So, I ended up getting the ocho rios cardigan in azul, the summer alexis dress and the clementina cashmere jacket in sweet orange.

  35. Jcrew is driving us crazy!! Today we noted that there are SEVERAL items in the sale section that were NOT there yesterday. JCrew seems to add and delete items around their sales. Although we LOVE Jcrew and check the site 3 times per day -- it is sooo frustrating! Today the following are back: silk linen solid swing, babydoll shirts, kate sweater, chessy jacket and tie front dress. where were they yesterday at 9:30pm??? And the sale sign actually was removed before it was over! It freaked me out! Anyone else frustrated by our beloved JCrew?
